  1. Here's the concept: 'Glass Shield' - 1 ally gains an aura that protects them from a state. After a state is blocked, the shield shatters. Basically, a pre-emptive buff that dispels 1 state. If someone would be kind enough to help me figure out if this is even possible, and if so, how to go about creating it, that would be swell, as I'm at my wit's end after having just spent the past 14 hours attempt to get another one of my "brilliant" skill ideas to work, to no avail.   3. Hello everyone~ ^~^ I'm just wondering if I could make an event or a common event that makes the players HP and MP go down by 1 for every step they take? The idea is, I don't want a % decrease but rather an exact 1 HP/ and MP lost I want the player to receive a game over if either the HP or the MP goes down to zero. Since my idea is that the player traverses into two dungeons, the first dungeon reduces HP while the second reduces MP. Any help would be appreciated meow ^~^♥
  4. Hiya! I compressed my game today and noticed that when running the compressed version that my custom music has been overwritten by the default music. When I first built my game, I used the default music but gradually changed it by importing my own music. I renamed my songs to the same name as the songs that I had already used (i.e. "Dungeon5", "Battle2" etc) so that I wouldn't have to change every instance of BGM in the whole game. The problem is, the compressed version overwrites the custom music with the original version of "Dungeon5" for example. I have to include RTP data since I do still use some default graphics. How can I fix this? Any help is appreciated.
  5. Hiya! I'm very new to the forum and this is my first time asking for help on RPGMaker VX Ace. ^^ The thing is, when the player want to use a consumable item they go into the menu and choose items, right? Then they pick the item (a potion or whatever) and the game brings up an "Select Actor" screen where they choose who should use the item. They remain on this screen until the press the back button, even when they run out of the consumable item they picked. I want to change it so that when they have zero of the consumable item, they automatically go back to the "Select Item" window instead of remaining on the "Select Actor" window. To put it another way; When they use the last item, the effect is applied and then the "Select Actor" window is closed. Any help is much appreciated! I don't know if this requires scripting on not, so I posted it on the Support Forum. Sorry if that was a mistake. Anyway, thanks in advance, guys!
  6. I have an event running with a stepping and turning animation placed in a corner, but for some reason, it makes a couple wall tiles beside it passable so the character can just walk right up the wall. How can I fix this?

I recently changed the font on my game by replacing my "Main" with this: #============================================================================== # ** Main #------------------------------------------------------------------------------ # This processing is executed after module and class definition is finished. #============================================================================== Font.default_name = ["Courier New"] # Edit as you see fit. Font.default_size = 20 # Edit as you see fit. rgss_main { SceneManager.run } This worked wonderfully, but now a [] symbol appears in all the item descriptions in my game. I know that [] means that the font doesn't have the symbol that I'm trying to use, but the problem is that I'm not using any specific symbol. The [] appears as the final symbol on the first row of all my item descriptions, as if "new row" is a symbol. Let me post an example: "This potion is made by mixing[] herbs with purified water." I would be very grateful if anyone could help me. I like the font I am currently using, so it would be cool if I could keep it.

    Event is gone (VX Ace)

    So, I have this one particular questing event where you have to take a letter from one student to the other. Sounds pretty simple, right? I just can't figure out how an event is supposed to work if it doesn't show up in-game... I have supplied screenshots. Have I overloaded RPG Maker? Is this event simply too much for it to handle? (FYI, he does have a walk cycle where he looks at part of a bookshelf, moves once, looks at the next part, etc., then moves back and just continues this cycle of pacing and looking at the bookshelf.)
  11. For my game, I have a skill that runs a common event which lowers your defense after using it. I only want it to decrease it in battle, but the defense stat stays lowered permanently. I want it to be stackable, and I don't know how to make stackable states. How would I do this so the defense stat only lowers in battle and reverts on the field?

Hi, í'm actually working in my own rpg game, i want to create my own character sprites but i don't like the chibi models, so i would like to make my characters with a mack model, but i can't find any tutorials on the internet to make them, i need tips because it's really hard (at least for me) to make a mack sprite compared to a chibi sprite, any useful help/tips/information will be appreciated. Also, just in case, the difference between those two models... Chibi sprite: Mack sprite: Basically, the mack sprites are larger and have a normal body/head size, meanwhile the chibi ones have a huge head and a tiny body.
  13. 1) How can I keep a random moving npc confined to 1 area while still being able to go in and talk to him myself? 2) For some reason I can't get any "Newly made" character transporters to work once I go pass 34 made maps. An example: I just made the 35th map, I put a transfer player event going in and going out of the map......I go in just fine BUT when going out of the map it freezes, can't do anything. I went less then 35 maps by putting some together (which I would rather not do) and the Newly made transporters start working correctly.

    Footstep Sounds

    Footstep Sounds with Region ID Tutorial on Footstep Sounds with Terrain Tag here. This is a very easy tutorial on how to create footstep sounds with using region ID's. To make things easier, we are not going to use the common events tab and will keep this event on our map. If you want this as a common event, you will just make it as a parallel process and connect it to a switch. Step 1 is to create our map. For this tutorial, I am going to have a wooden floor and a carpet area (I wanted to do grass, but we don't have any in the interior tilesets). Next, we are going to add the region ID. In the top area where the blue character is (the event button), click on the button to the right of it. It should be a square with different colored boxes. When you click on it, you should see all these numbers pop up in the tileset tab. I am going to use 1 for the wood floor and 2 for the carpet. Fill in the whole map with the region IDs that you want to use. Now switch back to the event tab. Create a new event and have the trigger be parallel process. The first thing we need to do is set up the Player's X and Y. To do this, just create two variables called Player X and Player Y. Now, set the variable Player X to Player's Map X in the Game Data area. Do the same exact thing with Player Y, except have it go to Player's Map Y. This is how the event should look so far: Next we are going to set up the region ID. Go to the third tab in the event commands and in the top right corner should be an area called Map. Go to the last button in that area that is called Get Location Info... and click on that. Create a new variable called Player Region ID. For the info type, you will pick Region ID, and click Destination with variables. Choose the variable Player X and Player Y. Now you are going to make a conditional branch. You will have the if the player region is equal to 1, else if the player region is equal to 2. This is how the event should look so far: Now make another conditional branch and have it where if the up button is being pressed, if the down button is being pressed, if the left button is being pressed, or if the right button is being pressed. You will do the same exact thing in the conditional branch where the player region ID is equal to 2. Inside the new conditional branches we made where we pressed the buttons, we are going to add a wait command so it doesn't sound like a machine gun is going off when we walk. I like to use wait 15 frames myself, but you can play around with it and see what speed you want the footsteps to be. Inside the region 1 conditional branch, we are going to add the sound effect. I chose the "knock" SE that come with RPG Maker. Place this under your wait commands. In the region 2 conditional branch, I used the "blow6" SE since that was the closest I could find to a carpet sound. Here is what the finished event should look like: And that is how you create an evented footstep sound. You can add as many region ID's as you'd like and can turn it on or off on any map.

I was making a simple event for my game when, and when I playtested it didn't work, she doesn't do the whole talking part of the event, she just goes up to the character and stops there, I'm sorry if the solution to this problem is obvious. here are some screen shots to show the issue more closely. I thought this was kinda broken since it was easily spammable, and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to decrease the accuracy of it if it's been used already, so it misses more and more after repeated use. Please help!

I found that while my character speaking is too quite -.- 2.How to insert the video before the game start when new game?     One Actor Balancing

    So, i've decided my game will only have one playable actor. I have a question about balancing a one actor system. Can classes still work? You will be lacking in options if you have one class with one viable strategy/ability, as far as I understand. Pretty boring, and you will get pummeled by enemies that counter your class well. Can they still work in any capacity? Also, I'm new to RPGMaker, and i'm wondering if you have any tips for balancing in general. Any Tips/Advice are apprieciated.

    Item Pickup Screen Tutorial

    Today I am going to teach you, I used NO SCRIPTS to make my item Pick up screen, using events and pictures. : First you might need a little understanding of Variables and switches before you begin, i suggest you read tutorials on variables and switches. First you need to do is sort out all the items you will be getting in the game, as you will need big pictures of them to fit in the square about 100x78 will probably do, Here is mine : You will need pictures of the text 'will you take the' and 'Item name' and 'yes/no(one picture) and the arrows. The arrow is what we will be moving using variables. then you will need pictures of the screen, I forgot to make my screen bigger, so I have gap so you can see the maps when you open this screen. So make a picture of the background, your game screen size. : the text for choices are seperate files, so you have yes and no pictures and the 'Will you take the' and the item name as well. all are seperate picture files. Place all of it in Graphics/Pictures folder, give it a name that is easy to recognise and easy to find. Then goes the hard part, setting the variables and pictures. When you click on the item you want to pick up, set a switch : You can see i just set to action, and its also set to stepping as I have a sparkly graphic, and the switch activates a Autorun event, so when you have the screen for the item pickup, player can't move at all, until the pickup is complete. Here's the Events for when the switch is on This step is sorting the variables and switches so the Arrow Actually moves when u wnat to press yes or no, Here is how mine is set up, Remember its only two choices. Its may look complicated to some people, but once you take a good look, its a very simple and easy concept. Thanks if you use my event, be sure to credit me

    Script Help?

    Not sure if this is the right thread to post on, so correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, I've been having an issue with scripts lately and it's been going on for several weeks. Basically, a script that was working perfectly fine would just randomly stop working, without me changing anything. It happened with Yanfly's Input Combo Skills script today and I was wondering if anyone could help(I've used this script for several other projects before). Basically, I have a combo skill that my character knows and it would work perfectly fine. Just today the script stopped working and the skill wouldn't show the Combo Skill Menu thing. Please help!
