  1. Hey everyone! My name is Rita. I am a freelance animator and illustrator. I have focussed on Animation over the last four years, coming from Illustration and Fine Arts background. I am a professional artist of academic training and more than 10 years of freelance experience, working in versatile media. I work with both traditional and digital tools, in particular seeking to achieve collaboration between the two. I am a big fan of aesthetics with passion for detail and high-quality craft. In the process of animation, my favourite stages are character and background design. To help you get a better sense of my skills and fit, my selected work can be found here: · My website: http://www.smallinkart.com. · My showreel: https://vimeo.com/224053115. 2. I am currently looking for a background artist for my visual novel. The art style will have to mesh well with my existing character art and will be modern day, Japanese style settings. Please PM me here or on Discord at Necromedes#4690 if interested. (Note: I am more likely to see your message on Discord.) Be ready to offer a portfolio or examples of your existing work. Payment is negotiable and will be made per piece provided. I don't pay by the hour, sorry. Feel free to contact if additional information is required. Final Note: Actual work will not begin until further into the year. At the moment, only a few pieces for a demo trailer will be needed but when work does begin in full, I will expect timely results and the artist will need to be readily available to work with me. This is going to be a rather large project and I will be needing my artist for a good long while. Please only apply if you fully believe that you can provide these services for the long haul. Thank you and I look forward to working with you.
  3. Hi there, In Ace, the dark blue transparent color was very convenient, but the white one is a pain (some tiles I can't even see!). Is there any easy way to change that color?

[SOLVED] Have the Parralex Background not scroll

This may sound like a strange request, but... I have made a map, taking advantage of how the map looks in the editor. I've made the map 17x25 in size, and gave it a Parallax Background. This resulted in the background image being repeated below the intended 17x13 area, but I've covered that up with grass, and the result, at least in the editor, is a really nice looking map with a few into the horizon. Unfortunately, as it turns out, the map is displayed differently in game, because the Parallax Background moves. And I want it to stay stationary. So here's what I want from a plugin. I want to make a list of MAP IDs, and for each of those maps, the following will apply: The Parallax Background is simply displayed in the 17x13 area from the top left of the map, and then... Just make the Parallax stay stationary, and not scroll when I move my character around the map, so the Parallax Background stays where it's at. To help better understand my request, I'm going to attach a picture of my map. I really like how I designed this map, and I want to keep it without re-designing it. But for that, I will need the Parallax to be stationary in the top area. EDIT: I found the solution myself, it's described here. http://steamcommunity.com/app/363890/discussions/0/483368526573251186/ Nice to know it's a built-in feature.
  6. Due to recent changes, you're now able to upload your own background, that will be displayed in your profile page. It looks like this (look at the sky background): Now here are some tips and general information about that feature to help you customize your profile efficiently. Profile BackgroundA pretty background image of your profile page. It either can be a full image, such as photo or a tile (pattern). >>> Full Image A single image, that is drawn in the upper-left corner with the background color beyond the image's borders. The image preferably should have the size of 1920x1080 as it's the highest common resolution. If the image will have smaller dimensions, than the resolution, it will not cover the whole page, thus may look bad like in the image above. Tips Using images with transparent background, such as vectors can work well with the background color, which may prevent from getting a bad result. It's best to put most of the details on the left side, because users with lower resolutions may not see the right side of the image, due to being out of view. Trivia TV's can have even higher resolution, than monitors usually have, so there is still that possibility, that some members will see the image not covering the whole page. However, using higher resolution than 1920x1080 is rather rare and most of the games and some software weren't designed to handle such resolutions anyway, so it's better to focus on monitor-users. When using images covering the whole screen, the background color may be still visible for a short time before the image will load. When the image will be 1920x1080, then sometimes you will not even see the very bottom part of the image, because some vertical space may be taken by Windows task bar and the browser's interface. Enabling fullscreen mode in the browser will reveal the whole image. >>> Tiles An image (pattern), that covers the whole page. The image is not stretched, but multiplied. The image should be nicely stacking (think of textures or bricks, for a more specific example), otherwise, it will look just bad. The image can be any size. A tiny one will work as well as bigger ones as long as their borders will be matching. Tips none at the moment. Trivia Tiles will look good in any resolution, for any user, as the image will be just multiplied. The background color is pretty much irrelevant when using tiles, unless they have transparency, though tiles usually don't have any transparent parts. Hope that helps! Remember, that the Forum Rules apply to background images as well. Abusing this feature will be awarded just like anywhere else once spotted or reported by other members. Don't make us sad.
  7. For my first Blog Entry, I have some information regarding the world that my game, Cryptic, takes place in, hope you all enjoy~! The Surge In order to explain how the world of Aultirre works, I must first talk about the Surge. The Surge is exactly that, a great outpouring of energy that governs every natural aspect of the world. Unlike the magical energy that us humans refer to as mana, the Surge is a proactive force of change, flooding across the land and exacting drastic alterations to the environment. It could be said that it's the crux of evolution, the centerpiece that guides every aspect of daily life in the world. To some of the humanoid races that make their home on the world, the Surge is to be worshipped as a God, while to other races, it is feared as the vengeful Soul of Nature. Regardless of WHAT it is, the Surge is indiscriminate and brings balance through chaos, breaking down life and rebuilding it in a new form. In appearance, the Surge appears as a massive ball of sanguine electricity, it's flashes of energy arcing across the sky and striking upon the surface of the planet. The locations struck by the bolts are dissolved and sometimes reform into new landmass. The same cannot be said for the living who are unlucky enough to be hit by the Surge. They are simply erased from existence, and even worse, their entire legacy is wiped. Those lives taken are forgotten, and never to be remembered by those left behind. The World of Aultirre It is widely believed that in the distant past, Aultirre was heavily populated and abundant with incredible and innovative technology. That world was thought to have been brought to a destructive close by the Surge, the world's vengeance against the pollution and deforestation that plagued its surface. What survivors remained were physically changed and evolved to suit the new and harsher environment. The land itself was torn apart and rebuilt, entire continents demolished and recreated, forests flattened and regrown, oceans evaporated and refilled. No matter the change, it was drastic and sudden. Aultirre still changes constantly to this day, as the Surge moves over the landscape, leaving scars of new growth in its wake. There are some areas, referred to as Lost Zones, that the Surge refuses to touch, and they are often viewed as vile, untouchable places where no living being is meant to pass. Denizens of Aultirre who have visited these locations have not returned, and it is said that their souls are forever trapped inside, suffering under the command of an unknown force. The landscape itself is very diverse, ranging from incredible heights found in the mountains and plateaus, to the deepest of lowlands and deserts. While the Surge is a terrifying and chaotic force, it has left behind a great many wonders and landmarks that only such an awe inspiring power could create. Some of these locations stay untouched for centuries, while others are gone within several hours, but their beauty and mystique are something to behold, regardless of their permanence. The People, Creatures, and Monsters On Aultirre, a "Human" refers to any sapient race that can communicate through speech and walk upon two legs, but that's where the similarities with our own human race end. The Humans of Aultirre are include a diverse collection of many races and cultures each with their own appearances and beliefs. Some of these races are reclusive and independent, while others have integrated and combine their capabilities to survive the harsh climates of the surface world. There is one thing, however, that is uniform among all the Humans on the planet, and that's the ability to tap into the immense power of the Surge and use it to manipulate the environment around them. Every individual's ability is unique to them, and no two abilities are ever the same. Some abilities are complex or powerful, while others are simple or insubstantial, but they can all be trained and perfected to suit the user. The greater of the powers carry an equivalent cost, however, as they often come packaged with some sort of debilitation or disability, an equilibrium enforced unconditionally by the Surge. Because of the harsh and often violently changing environment, most of the Human races have been forced to a nomadic lifestyle, travelling the surface and avoiding the Surge as it etches across the surface of the world. Some tribes are small and fast, carrying their homes upon their backs and living off of the land, while others have formed great wandering cities that walk across the land transporting their citizens. Even close encounters with the Surge can prove devastating, since the landscape itself can change at a moment's notice. What was once a hill one moment could turn into a gaping chasm the next, forcing the nomads to carefully alter their routes while on the move. Just as the Humans have been altered by the presence of the Surge, so has the fauna on Aultirre. While the majority of the animals that are forced to survive the harsh climates of the world are no larger than those of Earth, there are some species that have been transformed to a varying degree by the Surge, and range from the size of dinosaurs to colossal, towering far above the forests and mountains. Regardless of size, somehow the ecosystem for these creatures has remained self-sustained thanks to the ever-shifting environment. The greatest threats outside of the environment are the Warped Ones, humans and animals whose souls have been twisted and deformed by the Surge, but not entirely consumed. They have lost any and all sense of purpose and morality, for one reason or another, they seek only to hunt and destroy, without joy or remorse. They are believed to be the only beings capable of surviving the Lost Zones, though there is little recorded proof of that available. If anyone has any questions about the world, I'll be more than happy to explain it, so long as it doesn't involve spoilers <3
  8. Hi all. If anyone can help out in assisting me in somehow getting these backgrounds for these sprite sheets transparent, I'd really appreciate it or any guidance. Thanks!
  9. As you can see in the picture, every time I place down some tile (in this case, wood) and then try to place an accessory on top of the tile, (for example, I'm trying to put a wheel on the wood for a ship) it removes the original tile and places down the accessory with space around it. WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING! This also happens with things other than space, like if I placed down a bunch of water for the ocean and then put the ship tile down and then the wheel, it would remove the ship tile and just show the wheel on top of the water tile. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong! Please help! <--- sorry it's so small, just click on it

  11. Hello! I have made a new textbox (border and background) and I have no clue how to actually put it into RPG maker. Could someone tell me how?
  12. Hello, and welcome to the first post of my new blog: Writer's Resource. A blog where I will seek to provide both new and old writers alike with resources to help with the processes of character development and world building. (Apologies for the terrible punctuation.) For this first post I would like to introduce you to something that many people know about, but I still seem to find new people who have never heard of it before, so I figure it's as good a place as any to start the series. Here is a link to the Myers Briggs test. It is what we'll be covering today. What is the Myers Briggs test? Well it is a test developed to help define certain personality types commonly found in society. It was created in 1921 by Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers. And is actually officially called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, but people tend to shorten it for obvious reasons. If you want to read more about it's history, then check out it's wiki page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers%E2%80%93Briggs_Type_Indicator Now. What exactly is the test useful for? Well it's a good way of gauging how a character will generally act in everyday situations. Think of it as something to help set the foundation of a character, or how they will react to something when you're drawing a blank. What you do is you fill out the series of questions with either one thumb (agree/disagree) two thumbs (strongly agree/disagree) or three thumbs (completely agree/disagree) as your character would in the situations represented and you will get a general personality type of that character. Don't get hanged up on whether or not these situations would actually happen in your characters world, or time period. Just answer like they would if these did happen to them. It should be stressed that this is not something that will write the character for you, you still need to do that. Nor does the result your character gets from the test mean that they will never stray from that general personality throughout the entire story. How a character reacts depends on how they have changed over the course of a story, or what has recently been happening in the story. Well that's the first Writer's Resource. I plan to do this on a weekly, or bi-weekly basis. But for me to do that I'm gonna need help from you guys. If you know of articles, tests, other blogs or videos that you feel are helpful for writing characters, or worlds then please share them with me via PM saying why you think it is a good resource and I will post it either by itself or with another resource depending on how many resources people share with me. Anyway. I hope you all got something useful out of this, and I hope you all have a good day. -LS
  13. Whilst taking a break from script writing (narrative script that is, on to the fourth draft now), I decided to resolve the problem I'd been having with a logo design once and for all. Two days of work, I finally managed to zero in on a handful of variations. They're pretty similar and I have favourites, but I thought I'd post them here and see what people think.

    Beginnings of a Story

So I'm working on my game, trying not to overload on ideas and get so confused and tangled up that I can't make anything out. I've just finished a "background story" that is going to be the grounds for the game, and I wanted to get some opinions on it and a few other ideas as well. Here's the background, which is going to be displayed at the beginning of the game: "Long ago, mortals and their Immortal creators lived alongside one another in quiet peace. The Immortals provided fruitful harvests, remedied plagues, and protected the mortals from evil creatures. The mortals, in return, payed tribute to the Immortal by means of innovation, and displays of their worth. Celebrations were frequent and long-lasting, with feasts of harvests, and treats from the Immortals to feed the masses. This peace and friendship lasted centuries. However, the passing of time brought on a stark realization. The mortals, dying of old age at only eighty years old, envied the millenia-long lives of Immortals, and searched to find a way to mimic it. The Immortals despised the mortals jealousy and greed, but they too were jealous of the one thing that made the mortals unique- a Soul. Soon, all out war was waged. The mortals, through the power of their Souls, were able to exploit the weakness of the Immortals. It wasn't long until the Immortals numbered only twelve. Despite their numbers, the mortals were frail, and the Immortals used their combined power to bring an end to the war. With both sides beaten, a truce was negotiated. The Immortals were slowly fading away, and the remaining mortals still relied on them to bless the crops and heal their sick and injured. Thus a pact was made for a lasting peace. The pact ensured the Immortals would survive to guide the mortals, and that the mortals would never again rebel against their creators out of greed for their power. Every one thousand years, the Immortals would choose twelve mortals to succeed them, to maintain the peace, and ensure a mutual relationship without conflict. Three thousand years passed in peace and harmony, but the Immortals, nearing the end of their time, are on edge as a civil conflict among the mortals has erupted, and their existence may be in jeopardy." Afterwards, it will jump to a conversation between the twelve current Immortals discussing the dilemma. They will mention the main character, who is unknowingly one of the twelve chosen to become an Immortal, and the rebellious son of the King of one side of the civil war being waged, and then it will jump to him. I'm undecided how I want to introduce him and begin play. I could do the seemingly traditional "wake-up-and-adventure" beginning, but I was considering just beginning the character in the middle of leading a battle against the opposing army. I would appreciate any ideas, questions, concerns that anyone has. HUGE EDIT: warning, it's quite long That's what I've got for now, opinions and suggestions more than welcome, especially if you can come up with some ideas on personalities and motives among the Immortals I haven't yet developed. I'm working on the opening sequence and beginning portion of the game (introducing the player, other important characters, etc.) and will try to update on progress.
