The Timed Challenge The Goal of My Challenges: To give new and long time devs a short project to stretch their creative muscles on. I want you to actually FINISH a game and have it in your portfolio. The Theme of the Timed Challenge: Firstly: the game has to FINISH within 30 minutes. It can end earlier, but a Victory/Failure condition must occur at the 30 minute mark. Secondly: The game must feature some kind of timer - up to you what that means. The Rules: You can use the built in timer in MV, or modify it anyway you want. YOU CANNOT use someone else's timer plugin or event. Anything to do with the timer, must be done by you through eventing or coding. Must be a new project started and finished within the time scope of the project. Number of devs on 1 project is limited to 1. Not to say you can't get advice/critques from other people before turn in day.) All resources, plugins etc used in the project must respect terms of use, but you may use anything you can pull together. I'll be posting this contest in number of locales; however, I will manage the contest from a discord server. https://discord.gg/rZPyy4y The Timing: February 17th, contest first posted; Updates and changes to the parameters expected until contest start date. March 5th, 12AM GMT: Contest starts. March ,18th 1145PM GMT: Contest Ends. All games must be linked and shared on this thread by this time. March 23, Judging will finalized and results posted here. The Judging: I'll be judging. Obviously it will mostly be my personal subjectivity - but I'll try to keep it as objective as possible. I will play the game for up to 30 minutes, or until a game crashing bug. There will be a total of 50 points. Use of Timer (15 points) - creativity, design, completion Thematic elements (10 points) - How unique was your vision?, How cohesive were the game elements in relation to the theme of the game? Execution (10 points) - Bugs, spelling/grammar, game balance Overall fun (15 points) - how driven was I to finish your game Single tier bonus points (up to 5 total) - Art, music, eventing, etc - did any of these one elements stand out and if so bonus points. This can't take your score over 50. The Prizes: I'd like to have more prizes; however am limited by own resources. I have a couple of people who said they'd donate to the cause. If you want to help out, PM me and let me know. Officially, the winners and prizes will be rewarded as follows. There will be 4 winners total; Only one unique winner per category. All top prizes will be shown on my stream separate from my judging. (Don't get too excited, my stream has a pretty low audience.) Overall (wins $20.00 worth of RPG Maker resources of their choice) - Grand Prize winner with the highest objective score Honorable Runner up ($10.00 worth of RPG Maker resources of their choice) - Second place winner with the second highest score Best Story - (Choose one of the following game keys) goes to the most moving or creative story. Best Art - (Choose one of the following game keys) the standout for non-map art of the game, (battlers, character design, icons, etc) FAQ: Can I enter after the start time? Absolutely! As long as you start and finish your game within the parameters, your entry will be allowed. Please leave a comment here so we have an idea how big this has gotten! More exciting that way! Do we have to make a game within 30 minutes? --The length of the game should be capped at 30 minutes. The game can have a victory condition or failure condition that is less than 30 minutes if you like, but the game itself should last no more than 30 minutes as per the rules. --The time it takes you to dev it merely has to be within the two weeks. You can take 1 hour, 10 minutes, 2 weeks. Put as much love and work into that 30 minute game as you want. Does the game have to contain a timer? Is the timer the main theme? -- Yes. How prominent the timer is in your game is up to you. Where its located - also up to you. BUT the game must feature a timer. AND 15 points of the judging will be based on your use of the timer. Can I use other people's resources? -- As long as they are free to use and ARE NOT timer related. Is this a commercial project? -- umm...? I don't think so? Does contest = commercial? If you plan on selling your entry or using it as part of a commercial project I guess it would, but otherwise I think you're ok on terms of use for non-commercial resources. Don't know exactly. Maybe someone else can clarify for us. This contest brought to you buy Fusegu Productions and Gamers Incoming - if the mods will allow it here are the links.

The One Map Challenge The Basics: I wanted to create a contest targeted at, but not exclusive to new rpg maker devs. We've all been there: our first project... we have no organization, we have a plan that's too ambitious, and we have no idea where or how to start, but we do it anyways. By limiting ourselves to one map, the challenge will force FOCUS. Something a new dev desperately needs. Further, more experienced devs might find the restriction requires them to really stretch those creative muscles to make something interesting. On to the rules! The Rules: Must use 1 map (no size limit). This map will be one of the major judging points and can not just be a repository for events (Looking at you VN creators). Must be a new project started and finished within the time scope of the project. Number of devs on 1 project is limited to 1. Not to say you can't get advice/critques from other people before turn in day.) All resources, plugins etc used in the project must respect terms of use, but you may use anything you can pull together. I'll be posting this contest in number of locales; however, it will be managed from this forum. You must be a member of RMC to participate. The Timing: January 24th, contest first posted; Updates and changes to the parameters expected until contest start date. January 29th, 12AM GMT: Contest starts. February 11th, 1130PM GMT: Contest Ends. All games must be linked and shared on this thread by this time. February 25th, Judging will finalized and results posted here. The Judging: I'll be judging. Obviously it will mostly be my personal subjectivity - but I'll try to keep it as objective as possible. I will play the game for up to 1 hour, or until a game crashing bug. There will be a total of 60 points. Use of Map (20 points) - creativity, design, completion Thematic elements (10 points) - How unique was your vision?, How cohesive were the game elements in relation to the theme of the game? Execution (15 points) - Bugs, spelling/grammar, game balance Overall fun (15 points) - how driven was I to finish your game Single tier bonus points (up to 10 total) - Art, music, eventing, etc - did any of these one elements stand out and if so bonus points. Best Art - (Choose one of the following game keys) the standout for non-map art of the game, (battlers, character design, icons, etc) Game Keys Lost Planet 3 - Complete Pack Resident Evil Revelations Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Episode 1: Penal Colony Resident Evil 4 DMC: Devil May Cry DMC: Devil May Cry: Vergils Downfall DLC Devil may Cry 4: Special Edition Crazy Plant Shop Ludwig Sokobon Type:Rider: Lilly Looking Through Galcon Legends FAQ: Can I enter after the start time? Absolutely! As long as you start and finish your game within the parameters, your entry will be allowed. Please leave a comment here so we have an idea how big this has gotten! More exciting that way! Does the battle screen count as a map? No, the combat screen DOES NOT count as an additional map as that is a traditional aspect of JRPG and RPG Maker. This contest brought to you buy Fusegu Productions and Gamers Incoming - if the mods will allow it here are the links.

Excuse My Gut - Winter Fitness Gaming Challenge So what is this? Well, a while back, I was getting requests to return to longplays. I didn't want to do it for a while because I was having fun doing themed quickplays, but I decided I would try something for the late fall/winter months. Basically what I'm doing here is I'm playing through a game in one hour increments and setting special rules for myself that cause me to have to pause and workout at regular intervals. The rules are as follows: - If I level up, I have to pause and exercise. If the same character levels up more than once, I have to exercise even more. - If I die, I have to pause and do a challenging exercise, i.e. burpees. - If neither of these happens for 10 minutes of gameplay, I have to pause and exercise. So in some cases I'm only exercising 6 times in a given video, but there have been instances where it's been 10 times or greater that I'm having to pause and exercise! I'm hoping to help people get and stay motivated to work out during the winter months when it's especially tough to even think about getting out of bed, let alone exercising. Furthermore, I'm helping to educate people about all kinds of exercises you can do from the comfort of your home with no equipment necessary. Sound good? Well, check out the first video in the series and let me know what you think... It's also important to note that the "current stats" section at the beginning will update as I improve at the gym as well. So in a way, I'm using this longplay challenge as a way to get myself into better shape as well.

Hey guys Ailuro here! If you've read my first or second blog you would know that I said I wouldn't do daily blogs. WELL...I've changed my mind about that. I have plenty of time to do it in my tech class because i have to type for ten min. So most likely i would do daily entries. Yesterday I was working on my game and rpg maker vx ace froze on me when I hit the save button. I usually press save after I've finished a map and test played my game. After the whole program froze it deleted me whole progress on my game(I seriously have some electronic crashing issues). Ha ha I was glad I didn't do much. I only did a couple of maps and barely any eventing(that's a relief). Anyways...I've tried and thought so hard about the puzzle I was confused about. I believe I've came up with something or figured it out entirely. If I did I will definitely write a tutorial and upload a small demo or something because I know this a non existent puzzle tutorial that you can't find easily on the internet. What I've come up with is a long and confusing system of conditional branches and a combination of Himeswork tile switch script. There will be a lot of character sprite making so I recommend some of you to get rpg character hub if at all possible. The great thing is what i've come up with doesn't require making millions of npc sprites. You only need to make a certain amount of npc sprites according to how many puzzle pieces you will need and a cursor sprite. Once I've actually figure out the rest of the puzzle I will write the tutorial and upload the demo! Wish me luck! Meow! P.S. If you are wondering what type of puzzle I'm talking about here is a pic! I also have a challenge too...If you can figure out how to do this with events before I do, then I will write a Titan sized blog post on whatever you choose(except for inappropriate stuff). If you accept this challenge please comment and let me know so I can keep track or if you've finished link a demo or tell me how to in the comments.

Card Design Competition/Challenge (For RPG Based Digital Board Game)
MinisterJay posted a topic in The Competition Zone
I am making a digital board game on RPG Maker VX Ace based on the main character of our project Bobbi Ficus (Paglalakbay ng Diwata). The name of the digital board game is Bobby Ficus: Berry Rogue Hideout. When the players, lands on the "Random Encounter" or "Surprise!" spots, they must pick the corresponding card. What the challenge is, is to create the design for the backs of these two cards. The words "Random Encounter" and "Surprise!" must be written on each's appropriate card. Design styles should compliment each other. The designer of the set, that is selected, will receive $20 US via PayPal or Western Union, and be listed on game credits. If winner decides they do not want compensation, we use the money to support a RPG Maker Game Dev project on crowdfunding (This funding will not go to a project that JABHA Creativity or MinisterJay have vested interest in). NOTE: New deadline is midnight between Sunday and Monday, tomorrow night. -
Summary: You have to beat my ESP Test game: http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/topic/26368-the-esp-test/ Statistically, you will get an average of 4.8 correct guesses per round, so this is a very difficult game. You have infinite tries. The first person to win this game is eligible to win a prize, yes, a real physical prize. Honestly, the chances of winning are extremely small. You don't have to accept the prize or even tell us that you beat the game if you don't want to. The information regarding claiming the prize is only available to those who beat the game. There is no such thing as cheating in this game. Mostly, I think it would be fun to try to beat your own score and to beat other people's scores. See who can get the closest to winning. Actually, if you give us a screen shot of your score, we would be willing to host the top score. Strategies: Odds of winning: Prize: The first person to win gets a free Tshirt, a book on ESP/parapsychology... As well as $20. And all lower categories of prizes. The first five people: A free copy of my first commercial game (when it comes out.) Top 50 get main characters based off of them in other games of mine. Current highscores are kept on my signature. See the game thread for more details: http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/topic/26368-the-esp-test/

Challenge 0; Duelling with myself Bugs and I were having a chat as to how to get budding artists to step out of their comfort zones and experiment with new ideas and fresh perspectives on art, when we decided to have this silly idea to "duel" to encourage healthy competition. We therefore open up this thread to everyone on the forum to participate in. The Rules are simple: Each member starts with both a picture and a topic for someone else to draw. The picture can only be either a pencil sketch or basic lineart, for the interest of time, and must be done by them from scratch. Colored submissions are automatically rejected. Quick sketches are fine, insofar as they are legible and recognisable. They will then select the next item or type of person for the next member to draw. For instance, a dancing man or a cityscape background. All duelling challenges must be phrased in the following format: "I challenge you to draw (insert object here)!" Please note that your request should be reasonable, and only members who have submitted artworks are allowed to post a new challenge to others. You are welcome to attempt to draw an older challenge for practice, or more than one image, however: - You are only allowed to issue a new challenge if you have done the last challenge. - You are only allowed to issue a new challenge if you are the first person to complete the last challenge. Any members are free to provide constructive criticism along the way in order to help the other members improve on their artwork. For artists, please tag your artworks with the following notation: "Challenge 1; Duelling with: (name of poster of challenge)" Please direct all criticisms or advice to the respective notations. With that... I challenge you to draw a young girl riding on a fantasy beast!
