  1. Y'all... we are all dead, you noticed? And yeah, you probably are aware, but today I would not want to speak ill of the dead. (when in reality, I may actually did) Today I just would like to, mayhaps, share some bonding memories and at the end even MAYBE announce a little competition(in competition zone, for those interested) to spice life into the forums again... even if I'm pretty much the least qualified, due to me being the absolute most inactive member in existence. Also I'm aware that putting my face into the spotlight might irritate some people, because of... let's just say reasons, but I will ignore those from now on, as I now understand what I truly want to have in this existence: tl;dr: Y'all are awesome, keep at it, don't give up, I won't speak for everyone, as everyone wants to speak for themselves, yadda yadda.. I just want to let you know, that no matter the situation, we are STILL here, breathing, regardless of our current situation... and that's what everyone really should be happy about, and if not, then maybe for just a minute. My memory goes as far back as the late 2013s. I remember being the most cringiest kid, having this mentally awesome game that I had no idea would later turn into a giant pile of mess, because it was way too ambitious. The first ever, what I consider friend, I met was @Loriesquare, (back in MY days, we weren't callin' him that, but EienNanashi). Back then I had big plans, but I knew the concepts and everything were extremely flat and landed on their faces the moment I started writing my games story, made the art for it and "borrowed" tracks from other games, that are supriorly better than what I even had planned with my childish brain. Mister Nanashi, back being a lil' ol' lad was actually the first to be interested intensly in my Project I titled "Soul Effect" and from there on, I was motivated to make big plans regardless of them being too ambitious. That push you feel when someone, for the first time, mentions that you are making a cool game is like no other. Eventually you start getting used to compliments and slowly start seeing the dark sides of your hobby/job more than the positives. We've all been there... maybe... you know, when you are kinda sick of receiving praise from the same people and want to come out more. Now I'm not saying this is the case for all the devs, but it was most certaintly for me. I am the kinda person to strive for greater heights and ignoring messages about the "impossible" feats you want but can't accomplish. People tell you "You'll get there, but slow it down a little and play by the rules." I started questioning this more and more as time went on, as I wasn't really satisfied with that conclusion. Instead of obeying the rules and learning slowly that way, I acted a rebellious nature to find out what's hidden in the dark for me, to receive more knowledge of the dark arts of making a game. I found lots, and I mean LOTS of things, for the price of my happiness, sanity, etc. Seeking my own justice, I realized that it's really hecking hard to stand your own ground. But nonetheless, I still am standing my ground today. The first couple of months beating myself over my own mistakes were hard, but once I slowly started realizing that, perhaps, someone else is out there also struggling for themselves are trying to survive their own pain bringing brain like myself. I realized that I didn't wanted to A: disappoint them, because I wanna show that you can INDEED manage to pull through yourself if you are willing your power into existence and B: disappoint myself, as that would ultimately become my downfall, because nobody else but me can support me (in that time). As a young lad, I always wanted to become a hero, someone you can look up to, but eventually realized a year back that it just can't be done. You CANNOT make everyone happy, it's impossible. At that point my fantasy and reality fought each other bringing my mentality to the ground. And then, it hit me... what if, as cliche as it sounds, would the two just combine together? "Genius!" I thought to myself, except I didn't actually think that, because it was a really serious moment where there was no comedy involved. Obviously with that mindset of "bringing them together" the reality side of things didn't wanted that, because it is a ridiculous fairy tale mindset, but once you realize that you can combine both to form fiction into reality, it blew my mind and then I truly said "Genius!". It was never about Light and Dark, it was never about good and bad, it was never about depression or happiness... It was about accepting both sides and bringing them together, regardless of the fact that the negative things boil your inner rage and void. For that... there was always the positivity bringing you back to the middle, to the whole/half (I dunno). Sure, this Ying-Yang crap sounds entitled as all hell, but... do you really have to care about what I say? Do you really have to just put your own mayonnaise on top of my already existing mayonnaise? I'm not saying you can't... in fact, you can. But now imagine doing that in reality with actual mayonnaise on some other strangers bread that he already had mayonnaise on. Pretty sure it's far-fetched, but at the end of the day, you kinda just blame yourself for making these mistakes, even if you say you don't. Which, in the end, I did... I did A LOT. Like me, or like me not. I like myself enough to ignore your... eh... dislike. Is this a public apology? Is this a justification? Maybe... I don't know... I just wrote this, because I felt like it and I didn't think of any drama, except I did when writing further in because I remembered I had beef not only here, but also in various other places. I am still me and you are still you... do with that information as you please, because I know you don't want me to tell you that I am right and you should listen. Yeah... I know, very entitled. But I like myself for it, honestly. ALL I'M SAYING IS... Thank you for making me the person I am today. I may have listed the absolute worst scenarios, but these are the scenarios that helped me grow the most and regardless of them being negative, I still am obligated to thank those that changed my mind and made me realize my place in life. Thanks to all my friends I have made over the 5 years I'm in this RPG maker community. And everyone knowing me, regardless (that's the word of the day) of my beef with you, I STILL consider you a friend... and you know who you are... you... eh... 20 people? lol (yeah, I was a bad boy) Anyway, enough with this cringey depression/selfreflection talk: How about a contest? I was thinking of making a contest based around decision making and multiple path options. Thought that was a cool idea. Obviously like a very short game and I thought it might help out people getting into multiple paths or something. PS: I guess this topic is about how you felt over the years on this community + contest stuff lmao PPS: I know, I still suck at english PPPS: @Loriesquare shoutout to the special snowflake I mentioned here and am still friends with. (Miss you bud)

    Hello!

Hello to all, I'm Donny a game developer, I am currently learning Unreal Engine but am interested in making a game with RPGMaker MV in my spare time as a passion project. I'm good with level design, story writing, character writing, world building, music technology and composition. I'm interested in working with artists to create a game, if you have ideas, I'd love to hear them and help out. Feel free to message me about collaborations! Thanks!

    Community Driven Game

Okay so here's the situation. I got rpg maker vx ace because i wanted to start making a really good rpg. However my idea of a good story and what your idea of a good story is are two completely different things. I need a story but not just any story an epic story. One driven and created by the community of people who want to play this game. So im here to see what you guys have as ideas. Characters, Beginning plot, Bosses, Mechanics anything and everything. I mean i could make the usual save the princess from mister meany or save the world from very bad guy. But i want something complex something worth spending 16 to 24 hours of your life or more to play i need twists i need everything good. But i don't know whats intriguing you guys do. So tell me what you find intriguing so i can make it a reality.
  5. Hey, community. Here, Kiler, I mean, Shantae DiLeo with a new forum game. So what do you do in this game? One poster must write in his native language, and the next person must translate that text to English (identify the language is optional), writing text in his/her native language after that. There is be a point system. Text tranlated correctly = 2 points. Text badly or poorly translated = 1 point. No translation = -2 points. Rules: - You reach -10 points? You are out. Don't worry. You can reenter when someone wins and the next round starts. - You sabotage the point system? -5 points. Watch out. - You must post your own points and notify posters about their translations. - Have fun. Get ready...Set...GOOO!!! --------------------------------------------------------------- Olá. Só quis criar um jogo e é o que estou a fazer. 0 points
  6. Hello everyone, this is FreezeKirby and I have signed up just today! ... Albeit I have had RPG Maker VX Ace for a good while now. I have honestly forgotten for how long I have been tampering with it in an attempt to make a single game-Receiving a tremendous failure while the project was halfway done due to some unexpected bug I was unable to find a fix to. I have a minimum of knowledge and comprehension for how Ruby's Syntax works-but that's where it ends. I -Can- tamper with Script calls, but tampering with a script itself? I still haven't learned to do that properly yet... ( X ' D )... I am a fast learner, usually, but with some things, it takes me a good while to understand. Among my favorite passions-hobbies, or however you would like to define them, and especially above them all, is Role Playing-Giving life to a Character, moulding and shaping Them into a set concept, watch Their story unfold and events change Their life-no, Their personality, even, Their very own self, over the course of Their life, until it is time for Them to depart. That is the type of Role Play I have grown very fond of. I like stories. Especially great ones, stories capable of making you feel great emotions. Although... That came to an end quite a while ago, as I slipped out of Role Playing ambiences for a good amount of time. Role Play still has a very large place in my heart, because it made me who I am today. Partially. I am a simple person-especially to understand. I act based on impulses most of the time, rather than using Logic, even if the two can intertwine at times. Even though, I feel like I have typed way more than I was supposed to... Woops. ( X ' D )... I apologize for the length of my introduction, and with that being done, I say Hello again to all of you members of the community! ( ^ . ^ " ) // (I hope the faces don't upset anyone.)
  7. I have been reading a lot lately on this forum about doing team projects, and I think it would be a fun idea, though I do see its shortcomings. I have an idea for a system we could do that might work, though. It has three phases; and in each one the work load is distributed across everyone based on what they volunteer to do, with only a little that they are obligated to do. People can join and leave at any time during the process. The first phase is the Voting phase, which starts after the initial people have all joined. In it everyone creates polls of all their questions, and the answers define the game. Things like the Genre, Art Style, whether the game is free or not, everything. The second phase is the World-building phase; in it we all decide as a group the game worlds history and common themes, and then we each get a chunk of it and decide on a loose geography for it, and if their are people, history and culture. Past that it's up to the person what they do with their chunk. Finally the third phase is the Game development phase. Each of us are required to make one in-game region and a boss. Any other contributions, such as resources and music, is up to the contributor. It's also an option to ask others for help making your part of the game. At the beginning of the phase we elect someone to design our hero or heroine, and someone to design the villain, and some people to design each of the party members. And that's the idea. One thing I should mention: I would like this game to be sexually clean. It's just important to me.
  8. Hello to anyone who may be reading this, my name is Ardaceus. I have not talked at all on this forum, for I have spent all of that time on Game Dev Unlimited, where I am more commonly found. If you do know me from there, gr8! If you don't... well then you don't. About me though, I am not one to speak of my own personality, that is for you to judge. For what I'm into however, I love anything that has good story or just gives me fun, I'm also into hearing any ideas of people I'm talking with, for it is fun to listen to what other people have thought of as stories, or want to make their reality. I will give thoughtful critique into a story, and I judge it based on what the targeted audience is, like how Nintendo games are judged unfairly because it's a company that makes games for preteens and younger, when its audience is mainly 19 year old men who take Pokemon too seriously. Genre wise, I like the RPG genre the most, while racing and sports are just not fun in the slightest to me, but one thing I should really mention is that I just don't like Fallout, despite on what people have said about it, I don't like it. Other things I like besides Video Games include music, drawing, anime (especially Kaichou Wa Maid Sama), graphic design, coding, writing, and being with my girl friends. Also while I'm still in this paragraph, something I'd like to point out is that I'm not going to tell what my gender really is, you can call me a girl or boy and I won't give a crap. Don't think you are also getting me to admit which I am. The reason why I'm on these forums is to talk to people who share interests with me, and to get any help I might need for the game I'm making. This game I'm making is called Wonder's War. It's a story about a women who wakes up in a cave, alone, with no recollection of any past memory of herself, or of the world she is in. You play as her, exploring a world you don't know, using knowledge you have to gain, and you have to figure out everything yourself, just like she does. As you explore the world, you'll come to find it torn apart by a global war, where nothing is right, see people rely on hope and false belief, while smart and wealthy people take the opportunity to use these people as pawns. As you go through the story, you'll come to find that you can end the bloody war for all that is right, as you'll travel around the continent which you are in to unite the races against an ever growing power that threatens evil upon all those fighting among themselves. Do you have what it takes to face the wars that are scarring the lands, the wars that are breaking the world apart, the wars that are being taken advantage of, and the one war, that dwells within your own mind? Well, that was something to type. Anyway, I'll leave a link right here to the page I made on GDU. http://www.gdunlimited.net/games/wonders-war/home So anyway, I look forward to being a part of this community, looks to be filled with a lot of active users. So until I decide to do something again, Ardi out.

The Big RMVXA.Net Community Game :p

The Big RMVXA.Net Community Game Okay so this is an idea I have been playing around with for a while and someone mentioned it in a status earlier tonight and reminded me about posted this, so I have figured it would be a good idea for everyone on the community to chip in together and make a huge community game together. I believe we have attempted something similar before but with a lack of interest so I decided we should probably try again and try to give a bit more gusto than those previous attempt's, I mean we have some of the best people in the rmvxa community right here, People who can make events looks like work's of art, people who can make script's look like they were created by someone from the future, people who can make map's look like they were literally painted and were meant to absorb you into the world in it's most literal form. So why not work together and have a brainstorming session? Work on what could be one of the biggest ever game's and best ever game's to be created using Enterbrain's wonderful tool. So what I reckon we need is the following and here is the plan I think:- ==> Brainstorming session for story writer's (What happened in the community game world, was it a huge event that could/would change the course of history entirely, was it the death of a king/queen that sent the kingdom into turmoil and a mercenary took over etc.). ==> Once the foundation is in place we need to discuss memorable features in the game world, Such as monolithic temple's, giant arena's, cities made of gold (literally haha). ==> Then comes the design stage, What scripts will we need? What sort of menu do we want to use? What special features if any do we want in the game? Do we want a normal battle engine or an ABS or SBS etc., Will the game be fully voice acted? ==> Then comes the huge part, The design stage, Mapping, eventing, tutorial section for first time rpg player's, Voice actor's collecting and saying their line's, custom music being created etc., Game website being created to display our game to the world. ==> Then comes the part were we run an Alpha Test to ensure that everything is running smoothly and make sure everything in the game so far make's sense, Does it have the correct feel, is it hitting that niche appeal we were aiming for, does it suite the demographic we want to please? Is this game still a viable option, Bug reports, Fixing any known bugs and error's etc. ==> Design Stage 2, The 2nd stage in the design element doing the same as we were before but with a much clearer direction than in stage 1, Once the foundation is set in stone it should bring everything together nicely. ==> Beta Testing, Fixing any bugs found during Beta, Releasing info to the public that our community game will be launching soon, advertising, website updates, replying to consumer email's etc. ==> Initial Product Release, 1st stage of the game release process, This is the most crucial section as a game will either soar high and ride on the wings of an angel or fall flat on it's face. ==> Patch time, Release a patch to fix any problems that the player's find post release. Estimated Completion Time:- 18 months ~ 36 Month's Non/Commercial: TBD So what does everyone think? Is it viable? Is it a good idea? Should we produce a community game so fantastic it's records will resonate through history like a chariot on fire :oD Post your comments below and let me know what you think :oD
  10. Greetings people of the community, I'm here with a crazy idea! The idea is below, all my other game projects are on hold while this is going on, I plan to create a game based around this community for now. The Idea: A game based completely around this community - You, the community will contribute the most to this project, I will simply create the game's skeleton in most cases. Notes: I already put my own character in the game, that character is the leader until otherwise stated. If you don't want to continue being part of this project let me know so I can create a scene to kill off your character and free up space, exceptions are characters which have yet to be added. If you want you can create a map or several for the game and send them to me, I'll add them to the world as I design it. You can create a title screen, game over screen and a window re-design if you like. Map Rules: No bland maps No maps full of empty space No maps bigger than 200x200 in size No pointless maps No convoluted maps You may create more than one map if you like, you MUST inform me of the purpose of the map otherwise it will be ignored as per Rule 4. Game Title: BlitzX Fill in the form which is attached as Character Form and send that to me to have your character or Antagonist added to the game. - Attachment: Complete a form based off the attached Game Ideas Guideline and send it to me to get your ideas in the game. - Attachment: Sprites MUST be setup according to this Attachment: This project will go on for as long as there are ideas being generated either by me or by you. REMINDER: This is a community-based game idea, don't be afraid to pitch in. Note: If you want to assist with development itself let me know and we can start forming a team of some sort. You can spend as little or as much time contributing in any way as you like, you don't have to contribute at all if you don't want to. Note to Mods: If this is in the wrong sub-forum I would appreciate it if you could move it to wherever it should be, I did check the guideline as it were for this sub-forum and as far as I can tell this thread is fine here. Some of you may wonder 'Why are you going for this kind of idea?' - The answer: I want to do something grand for the community! Call it a present or whatever you like - I just feel like doing this and I want it to succeed, simple as that. Note: Remember to state who to credit for any content you send me. I sure hope this all works out for the best. And... Development Team Wraith the Elusive Sgt Twilight Sparkle
