It is really one of my goals to make this an emotionally driven RPG that is both soulful and meaningful. I want to give that feeling from before when we started playing RPG games in our childhood such as the Final Fantasy series. The vibe those games gave where it is fun not only game-play wise, but also story-wise. Creating a story that is involving for the players as you lost yourselves, fully immersing within a rich fantasy world. Riding this story which is intended to bring about childhood nostalgia and feelings of love for such games and it's simplicity. I hope that I have given you all an RPG that you can enjoy as my goals dictate.
darksteelhero posted a topic in Theory and DevelopmentI've been trying to come up with ideas for a generic JRPG for my first game I make with VX Ace, but realised I could only really design cities well. So I thought to myself, what if I limit the story to a single large city. I wondering if anypne else liked this general idea. A game entirely in a fantasy city-state, named Reba, which is divided into 4 sectors. Sectors: Slums Guild Common Noble (king lives here) Plot summary: You are a small time merc in the slums who takes whatever jobs will put food on his plate. On one of these jobs, he discovers that one of the nobles is planning to usurp the crown. You are attacked and nearly die before your mentor/father figure, Relic, comes in and saves you. After escaping, you try to prevent the coup while protecting the city from an ancient evil.
Yorkshire-pud posted a topic in Introductions & FarewellsHello every one out there in RPG land. My name is Yorkshire-pud and I have been using the website for a long time and I have now decided to finally say hello. Hello I have been working on my game on and off (my first game) for over a year now, (I have months when I don't feel like it, then I have months when I get stuck in, you know what it's like) Even though it is my first game it's going to be BIG & EPIC! (Believe! I have read about people that "start again" or "have 2-4 games" at the same time that they are making, but the idea of starting again makes my head spin, I have my game backed up on USB's Hard Drives etc because the idea of losing my data or starting again is my worst fear Any way ABOUT MY GAME On a planet that after 100s of years of peace the wind suddenly changed direction, and the rain began to fall. (cue animation of rockets hitting city's) Just before everything was destroyed an SOS signal went out to space. And this is when our hero enters. Helping bring peace to his own home planet he travels the galaxy standing up to the tyriny and destruction, bring harmony and justice. unforcently he is over 100 years away, so he must travel in a frozen cryogenic stasis chamber. He was sent immediately with a separate space ship containing nano-bots to build a star base to help in the rebuild effort. Even more unforchnetly, due to constant upgrading of the ships computer, he accidently confuses the self destruct button when he try's to play some music by the hugely popular zero gravity rock band "Internal Super Nova Explosion" on his Mp7. But there was another person on-board the ship. A person who was on work experience as a toilet cleaner was polishing the insides of the stasis chambers. As the ship exploded the stasis chamber slammed shut immediately behind him instantly froze him.. After hurtling through space for a 100 years he finally reaches the planets orbit. And docks at the space station that the Nano-bots created. here you have your first decisions, on the space station do you tell the truth and explain you are not the long awaited hero? or do you lie and pretend to be a hero and not a toilet cleaner. But 100 years can be a long time, and the planet did not stand still. They first tried to rebuild for them selves but the crops failed and the trees bared no fruit. That is when the planet realised that they needed a whole new eco-system. In the Bio-genic labs the planets top scientists started to clone Bee's, Trees, Birds, Fruit, animals, to replace the ones that went extinct in the war. With help from there computers they came up with improved biological life forms that could adapt and not only that but more importantly, flourish in the newly irradiated planet. The cloning labs were essential to keeping life on the planet, and with out them people could not survive the long winters to come. After ten years the people on the planet were finally starting to repair all of the damage done. But that is when they started to notice new creatures in the forests and caves. The cloning labs, now being totally self sufficient, is responsible for the creation and balance of life on the planet, all of a sudden it was now making more and more predators. and soon the people found a new enemy. enemy's the bio labs create... What will our toilet cleaner do? OK so that is the main bit of my story/intro Now some other reasons why I think people might like to play my game. Classes Warrior, uses swords, so fast is the warrior some of his attacks do wind damage. Princess, Uses boomerangs, has a few spells, Heal, Love, diamonds and is a good warrior. Cyborg, uses guns, has "spells" like rockets, flame thrower, electric, hacking. Nu-Man- Uses claws, spells like leach life, poison. (a biologically improved human made by the bio labs) Dr, uses needles, scalpels, best healer in the game, can boost the party with strength. Mage, uses Staff, Spells, Fire, Electric, Ice, most powerful magic, no healing magic. Druid, Mace, uses earth water wind, healing spells. Thief, num-chucks, has "spells" like dynamite, bombs, shuricans. Mechanics All spells and animations are done in new ways. so a lot of stuff you have not seen the same before. (I hope) all enemys are ones of done my self online on a program called heromaker. The enemy's have weaknesses and different ways of attacking. My Robots for example, you can target his rocket launcher or Gatling gun and disable it before spending time killing his body. My battle system is the normal head on view (not side view, which I know a lot of people like) If you do 50% damage to enemy's then they transform in the same enemy but damaged for example my skelly enemy will have legs missing and arms missing when you get them to 50% health and do less damage. OK, I could talk for longer but I think that is more then enough just to say hello I look forward to posting on this website and if you have and advise or anything at all what so ever please comment. Happy gaming guys
So, I'm starting on my first real game. I have an idea for a game that will span twelve regions and thirteen or fourteen major boss fights. The regions themselves will contain around ten maps each. Now this seems pretty long, but is it too long for my first game?
