  1. Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to rpg maker and just getting used to how events work. I ran into a small issue regarding how I would go about putting an event over a door. What I aim to do is have a carpet, and an option to move it, revealing a door underneath it. Would anyone have suggestions of how to do this? Basically, how can I have an event OVER another event?

    RPG Maker Vx Ace Actor 3-5 Request!

    Hope i'm posting this correctly but.,, Does anyone have the custom made facesets/emosets for actor 3-5? The elf looking guy? I had it before but i lost it and i'd love to have it again. Apparently some person name Jalen made a faceset of this actor but, unfortunately all the images are down. Any help is appreciated!!
  3. I am brand new to the whole world of RPG Maker, and FES is the first and only game I have played so far. This may have already been answered, and I just missed it, but I am having a lot of trouble triggering an event that causes an NPC to lead the hero, is that doable? If so, how?
  4. Hello, this question was sort of already asked in a previous thread called "How do I make choices based off of items I own?", but I want to make choices appear for an event. It will allow you to choose 1 of 4 items, based on what items you have in your inventory. Call the items A, B, C, and D. If you have all four items, it will give you the option to choose A, B, C or D. But if you have items A, B, and C, it will show choices A, B, or C. I have made nested conditional branches, with [Condition:A in inventory] followed by [Condition: B in inventory] followed by [Condition: C in inventory] followed by [Condition: D in inventory], all before the Else of [Condition: A in inventory]. I assume this means that A, B, C, AND D must be in the inventory for this event. So I have conditional branches as follows: ABCD Else ABC Else BCD Else ACD Else ABD Else AB Else BC Else CD Else AC Else AD Else BD Else A Else B Else C Else D What am I doing wrong?
  5. Hello! I wanted to make a state which turns incoming damage into HP. That is, if your actor had the state applied, and the enemy used an attack which deals 100 damage on that actor, instead of losing 100 HP your actor would gain HP (I wanted to make it to be 50% of the incoming damage, so he would gain 50 HP in this case). I tried to figure it out by myself, but to no avail. So if someone was kind enough to help me out with this, that would be really, greatly appreciated

Hiya, I've been stewing on a story setting for a game that I wanted to share to iron out some kinks, and then work on other things like how the game would play, etc. Here's a small summary of the premise along with the characters just for a start. You have woken up in a musty cell. The echoing of pained murmuring is all you can hear. As you inspect your cage, smoke seeps in through the walls, and manifests as a cloaked figure, it's face masked, body ethereal, and not fully solid. "Are you confused, young one? You must have many questions." the figure speaks out, "But first, I have one I must ask of you...Do you remember how you died?" You do not want to believe your ears, but the gaping hole where your heart should be forces you to accept the truth. The figure melts the iron bars of your cell away with a wave of it's hands. "I can fill you in on the details later, but now we must escape." So the basic premise of the story is that you are a lost soul imprisoned in Purgatory, the void between life and death. You are neither fully dead, or alive. How did you end up here? That's your decision. All you know now is that you have to escape! You choose between dialogue options that carve your backstory as you go, these decisions decide your alignment, the path you will take to escape, who will join you, and who will oppose you. The early decisions will determine your class, your class will form your appearance (maybe, still in doubt on that). The classes and their brief backstories are as follows: The setting of the landscape of Purgatory is very dark-fantasy. Gritty and mysterious, the "twilight" to the black and white settings associated with Heaven and Hell. The undead however, include figures from many timezones. Samurai, Modern soldiers, barbarians, School-boys, and medieval knights alike all wander the void. Some may help you, others may hinder. The enemies vary depending on the class you play as, some have unique mid or final bosses, but there are 6 main bosses that are universal. But the main goal is always to slay The Gatekeeper, who guards the entry/exit between Purgatory and the living world. That's as far as I have really, I'm very bad and very slow with world-building, but the idea itself intrigues me. What do you guys think?

    I can't fix this.

    The problem persists even into other projects. It started when I tried to import a custom window sprite to make the game's menu less ugly, and it only went downhill from there. I have no idea how to fix anything at this point, I'm completely lost. How can I restore all of the assets to their factory/steam-ready state before my tampering, how can I fix this?
  8. I would like for a physical attack to do a apply a random damage from 1-999 each time he attacks. I'm new to RPG Maker and I tried messing around with formulas for an hour but nothing i did made sense or worked.
  9. So i'm currently just brainstorming ideas for a game. Heres what I've got so far! Feel free to come up with some better ideas... I've only been using MV for around 3 months, however I have been using VXAce for around 2 years and have gotten used to eventing and setting up the main database for the game. I have also been using Photoshop for around 4 years and have become a lot better with it. I'm not planning on going back to VXAce as re downloading will be to much of a hassle and is thinking about a mobile port of the game after completion. All work will be credited as creators (no matter how much was done as I appreciate any help) and there will be no pay as its the first project done as a group/team and may not be well enough for payed versions of the game. I have some knowledge on scripting but I really don't know what to do with it as the instructions are very vague. Has anyone used this?   11. I just got GCH PE and I can't seem to find a way to import resources? There IS a File>"import custom resources" option but the resources I have are in different folders like, SV, TV etc, are in png format, and the software doesn't read them. I also can't find much of ANYTHING online about GCH PE other than people complaining about it. Perhaps I haven't give nit enough of a chance yet but so far I'm disappointed Any advice or inquiry at all would be much appreciated. It's also always a pleasure conversing with all of you.   12. So, i'm working on this game right? I've spent about 20 hours on it at least now. Suddenly, there is this error message saying the System/RGSS301 cannot be found. Ok, great. I look it up online and it says to just copy it from another RPG maker VX Ace Game. I go on the create new project folder and I get this message now saying I cannot create a new project. I'm so confused with this...can anyone help?

  15. So got RPG Maker in the latest Humble Bundle, was messing around with and think I got it all figured out. However for an opening cutscene I'm doing the event just stopped working. It was totally fine the last twelve times I'd tested it and then all of sudden it just refuses to continue. Tempted to just open a new document and copy everything over but wanted to know if there was a potential fix first. Below is a section of the event, highlighted is where it randomly stopped.     I'm using the HUD maker: http://sumrndm.site/hud-maker/ And I'm trying to display the Enemy's name and stats. For the player I used ${$gameParty.leader().name()} to call the name, and ${$gameParty.leader().hp()}, etc etc to call the stats. What would I use to call Enemy A's name and stats? I tried ${$gameTroop.members()[0]} and various codes and got "ERROR", "unidentified", and "[object Object]" when I tried them. I'm sure the data strings for enemy stats and names exist in the game. I just don't know what they are. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.
  17. This is a bit of a lengthy post but I'm looking for a few plugins to help finish my battle engine. I'm making an engine that is essentially RNG cockfighting/Pokemon, at I want it to look similar to this: I have the basics done, but now I just need mostly visual plugins and a way to make abilities.First, I'm looking for a plugin that will give actors and enemies abilities like in the mainline Pokemon games. Basically a passive skill that activates under certain conditions. For example, something like "this actor gets an extra attack stat point when they are hit", "this actor summons another actor to battle when X condition is met" or "this actor regenerates 10% max HP every turn", something like that. A plugin where I can make abilities and give them to actors and enemies.I'm also looking for a plugin that will display both the Actor and the Enemy's HP and stats in the bottom box, instead of just the Actor's HP. I'm making an engine that is essentially RNG cockfighting, so I need both Actor and Enemy's stats visible so the viewers can see both sides' info. If I can have the Abilities shown too, that would be great.Also, instead of HP being shown, I would like it to be an estimate, like 100% HP is shown as "Unscathed", 99-75 is shown as "No Worries", etc.Finally, is there a way to make static enemies/actors move forwards before attacking with the Victor Engine Battler Graphic Set Up?Sorry for the lengthy list of plugins needed, but if anyone can help me find plugins that will let me do the above, that's great! I tried looking around on google, too, but I didn't find anything useful that would help me.   22. Hey guys, I've been troubled by this a while now, and I've had enough of it. I feel like some cutscenes feel a little monotone and boring when the same music plays all the time. However, I have a hard time in fixing this. The change seems unnatural, or out of place. How do you change music in / between cutscenes? Do you fade out the old music and fade the new music in during a black screen? Do you directly fade out the old music and fade in the new track while the scene is playing or do you keep a brief moment of silence in between? Thanks in advance for sharing your opinions, I hope this will help me make better games!

I've changed the airship texture to a ufo texture and need the ufo while its travelling when it hovers over certain planets in our solar system to change map by either pressing enter (which usually lands and hops u out) anything really that helps me teleport the player while he's in the ufo (Airship) to another map would really help me out
