  1. So, obviously, I know you can change the name of MP, HP, TP, yadda yadda. But what I was wondering was if you can change the names of them, specifically MP, for different characters? For example, I have 3 main characters in the game, and they all use different types of weapons. The first one uses a gun, the second one uses bludgeons and the third one has a hat which can shoot out different objects 'n stuff. And what I wanted to do was make it so, the Gun user's MP was named "Bullets", the bludgeons user's would be "Energy," and the hat user's would be "Tricks". Is it possible to give them all different titles? Thank you so much!
  2. Hello! I read the forum rules and I had a few more questions on how to properly do things that I couldn't find instructions for: 1. How do I get a discussion re-opened? Who do I contact and how? 2. I have yet to successfully be able to contact another person. I keep getting an error message when I am trying to message someone telling me to type in their full name or the message won't be sent, when I am certain I have typed it in completely without errors.   4. I'm looking for a good tutorial or set of tuts that teaches how to make Mack-Style sprites. I'm familiar with their deminsions and how to implement them into a project, I just need better tutorials on the actual art and creation of them. NOT LOOKING FOR: A sprite generator resource sprites, pre-made Anything that does all the work for you. I want to learn how to make them myself, I am just having trouble finding good tutorials as 90% of everything just points to generators and other peoples resource sprites. I don't want it done for me or to use someone else's work. All help with this is greatly appreciated
  5. Voice Acting In RPG Maker VX Ace Intro This is an repost and update to my original tutorial from RRR which you can view here. The screenshots are still in VX, however it is the same commands for VXAce! When choosing whether Voice Acting is something that you want to do when making your RPG! You need to consider a number of important things. -Character Development: Do you have an idea in your head how your character is going to talk? Do you know enough about your character to give a potential VA instructions regarding their background, the way you want them to speak? The emotions in their voice? Their accent. All of this should be readily available to ensure that a potential Voice Artist can provide you with the Perfect Voice! - The Voice: Don't just settle for anyone, when trying to find your characters voice, ensure that it feels right. Hold Auditions to ensure that the Voice sounds perfect to what your character sounds like. Also ensure that there is minimal background noise. You should also ensure that the voice isn't to loud or too quiet. If the sound is too loud, then clipping will occur- please note that turning down the volume will NOT stop clipping! You MUST ensure that no clipping occurs in the recording. - The Script: The more of the script you have written up, the better! Ensure when writing the script you give stage directions! It is very important to include stage directions. certain software can make this easier! Audio Prepping You must ensure that there are NO gaps at the beginning of the audio... your VA may have already done this but IF they haven't .. Download the free software Audacity: Audacity Website open up the audio that you have been sent by your Voice Actor or Actress: Notice the flat line at the begining of the project, if you leave this then it means that your audio will have a gap at the beginning okay, so time to say goodbye to that section select it and delete it now then it should look like this: Now we need to EXPORT the audio to an audio type of your choice! (i prefer to use mp3) so... FILE>EXPORT TO MP3/OGG/WAV Input Into Project Folder! Excellent you have prepared you file NOW it is time to input it into your project folder! Here is where it is your choice but I prefer to input it into the SE folder as there is the the ability to stop the audio which will become important later! I normally just CUT and paste directly into Audio>SE! The Eventing Part! Okay, now that the prep has been done time to input this into your project! Now to go to the lines that are already placed into an event: Once you have done that you need to input the audio to do that we open up the event command window and go to page two: Then select the Voice Acting Line you wish to used: "Stop SE" If you are creating a game with voice acting, you must be prepared to have 3-4 characters speaking at once, now, the Stop SE event, ensures that if readers, don't want to read through all the text, the audio does't bleed through. This keeps it from sounding messy, and also reduces lag drastically (as 4-5 SE going at the same time, is nothing but a nightmare) To do this use the Stop SE event command on Page 2: Hope this tutorial helps, adding voice acting into RPG Maker Games, can help bring life to characters, I hope to see more voice acting in games in the future!
  6. Greetings community. I do not post much, but I read a lot. Whenever I am stuck, this is my go to place. I hope I have posted in the right place. Truth be told, I am not 100% in which category this topic should fall. On to the post. I am currently working on a "ghost hunting" game, and my core mechanic for the game is as such. When the player enters the "haunted" area, they use a Flashlight, which, would have a passive state (From Yanfly's Passive States) that drains mana every few steps. That is the easy part. Unfortunately, I can read most coding languages but I can only write basically. What I don't know, is how to have the Passive mana drain, only work when in the haunted area, however, the BIGGEST issue I am facing, is this: When the player runs out of Battery life, they start to take "Fear damage" and their health slowly drains in place of mana. Question, is how can I have the Health drain active, ONLY if the player has 0 Mana. I'd like it to turn on at 0 Mana and should the player pick up and use a Battery, the health drain will turn off. Also, how can I have these passives active, only on selected maps? Any feedback would be great, thanks.

I have this map and when the player gets teleported there he turns around and sees a ghost which start to chase him, now it's too easy if you just hold down shift to sprint and it's too hard if you make the ghost's speen on max, so I put it on max, but I want there to be a set of flower pots beside the player as he runs so when the player runs over the event the flower pots smash on the floor and slow down the ghost. If you can make it more challenging without scripting then tell me how do you would make it so that only when the player presses an action button when on that event, the flower pots will smash.

    How to make a chase scene?

    The character is in a long corridor and on his left there is a ghost, when the ghost finishes making it's creepy sounds I want it to chase after the character and I want the player to be able to control the character so when the ghost gets you you die, at the end of the corridor there is a door in which the character has to go through and when he does i want the monster to stop chasin the character.
