  4. Greetings fellow game makers! It has been over a year since I began the foundations for Classical Age World, and I could really use some people on the team. We have one person in greece on the team, whom is trying to make a career out of Uni time, and another person whom is exchanging ideas with me. I have several blog entries on webs about the game, which can offer more information than I think is reasonable for this thread http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/blogs/blog/174-chungsies-blog/ A little bit about the game: The player is dropped in Alaska in 50 BCE, and meets an Inuit whom provides assistance in learning to navigate the game, how to craft, how to level up skills in the skill tree, and how to explore and stay safe in a world full of issues which may never be solved. There are 99 cultures in the game, and many languages. 63 factions compete for world domination, as they balance things like sanitation and taxation and production, as well as military and infrastructure. There are 36 independent cultures with no recognition of sovereignty. The player must make decisions which can not only effect themselves, but the rest of the world in entirety. There are 12 different Nationalities to choose from, which will determine which storyline is defaulted in terms of quests and adventures, as well as how all the NPCs interact with the player. Regardless of nationality, the player can earn titles and ranks within a culture/faction which enables things such as Employment opportunities, or the power to obtain land which is protected by the fielded armies of the governments in question; as well as reduce taxes levied on the player. Please refer to the blog entries for more information. Communication: I have Skype, Outlook, Gmail, and a dedicated Discord server for helping in coordinating with anyone interested. License: This is a non-commercial project, as such there will be no payments provided to anyone on the team. Positions: Scripters, Artists (tiles, sprites, battlers, splash screens, icons), Developers (this includes the creation of skills for the skill tree, quest lines, storylines, information about NPCs, idea generation), Composers (I myself know how to compose, but if you feel you can offer something for the project, you are more than welcome), Animators (cut scenes as well as skill animations). Credit will be given to anyone who helps, even if they do not join the team. I can be contacted immediately on Webs or Central @Chungsie. Regards
  5. GAME HAS NO TITLE YET. - Little story & Description - This game will be about Yuki, a young woman who has almost finished her degree in music. During the week break, she decided to go on ''the Trip of her life'' with her friends to Ste-Adele, a very big, modern city. Unfortunatly, shortly after her arrival, she gets kidnapped by a vampire. The vampire brings Yuki and 3 of her friends back to her den. Another, more ancient vampire named Sebastian turns Yuki and release all her friends without harming them. This game will be a semi open world RPG (the first 1~2 hours are linear) in the modern era with a variety of main and optional quests (you will have a quest log). Most of the game will happen in the huge city of Ste-Adele. It will be filled with intense, touching and funny moments. Packed with moral dilemma where you will be the chooser. Most vampire show/games ive seen make becoming a vampire look like it's no big deal and in some case it seems like it's the best thing that could ever happen to you. This game will deeply explore how a real human would feel towards himself, his friends and family. I will do my best to make you feel the bloodlust struggle and how deeply disturbing it would for a fledgling. Don't worry, it won't be a whining fest ! - Feature - This is very early and it is very very subject to change. There's likely more ''special feature'' than will be displayed. - Yuki and other vamps have 2 or more action per turn in fights which allow more depths and strategy. - Sneaking - Quest log - Recipe (soon) - Several out-of-battle vampic powers. The power of compelling humans and seduction are the only ones that are 100% confirmed to be there. There will be more for sure. - Other notes - - Couple screenshots - - Demo Info (read before downloading) - - Demo Download - - VLOG - A quick view of a part of Ste-Adele. - Critique - If you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to post them. If you have anything to say regarding enemy/item/spell balance, please do comment. If the story is unclear or you feel like there's too much talking or not enough, you can also comment on that. if you find any bugs tiny or big, please report them. The sewers are supposed to be a dark labyrinth so sometime i purposely made long path(not that long) without much doodads or details to fit in with the dark maze feel. Do you feel that vibe or do you just feel like some places are empty ? My english isn't the best. It's not horrible either. Catching important english grammatical/syntax errors ? Please take 2 seconds to pm me them. - Credit - - CHANGELOGS -
  6. Hello guys, for some time I was tinkering with the thought of starting to work on a project of a Life-Sim / Open-World game. Of course not something like Skyrim in Rpg Maker or stuff like that. I´d like to develop a game that takes place in a small modern village/town. There are no battles, no typical quests and nearly no fantasy elements. Just stripping off that whole JRPG mechanics. Focus of the game should be the everyday life in the village that creates the "story" and plot. Everyday you have things do, have a sleep cycle, needs, you can interact with all other people in the village, events will happen, etc. Features will be things like: - Day-/Night- Cycle - Needs (Eating, Drinking, Sleep, etc.) - Relationship-Level with the other people in town - People will react differently every day - The game should get an overall eerie feeling (not sure yet how to acchieve it) I don´t want the game to be finished in a short amount of time, nor do I want to win a price with it. But I´d like to know, what features or things in general you´d suggest or would like to see after the stuff you have read so far. I´m excited to read your posts PS: I guess I should mention that I don´t already know how to create all these features, so plugin suggestions for all those features are very welcome. And the combinations, for example, I know there is a plugin for day and night. But I don´t know how to create the gameplay mechanics that the people act different through the days, new events will happen, etc. It shouldn´t just be about ever-repeating tasks like working and surviving, but feel more like you´d really "live" the game as an experience. Greetings, jb

    An open world RPG

I have been working on a a project for a bit. It is about a civil war. Here is a bit of the overview: The Empire (South) The Hetseans hail from Hetsa the empire essentially. They are considered outsiders in Cenna (The place were the game is based) (PS. I made a post like 2 weeks ago about a place with the same name, just disregard that. I was quite tired) but control most Half of it. They are gifted warriors that use strong armor but weak weapons. They want to keep Cenna to keep the trade route that the empire relies on. The Natives (Cenna) Cennians hail from Cenna, and posses many skills, from alchemy to Templar's, these people love there home but fear the great forest. Many hate the empire, but some even joined it. They feel as if the empire is using them and want freedom. So this is it for now I may post more later.
  8. Hello all, I have an idea for an open world game. Of course I have begun development but want to get some response before going any deeper. Essentially a raid of evil demon like things (I haven't thought of a name) Attack 4 provinces (The main one being Cenna). Of course you born with special powers from the gods must get these four provinces together to fight these abominations. I hope to have 4 back stories (Paladin, Priest, Warrior and Alchemist). Please comment your thought's below =). Terrell.
  9. I am currently looking for people willing to contribute to my latest project Blood of Life, while I have the rest of my games on hold since Skype is broken for me and I need to fix it to work with my other developers. In Blood of Life, you live in a wasteland, rid of oil and most of its fresh water. Climate change has taken its toll, swallowing up major Islands and lands near water. It depicts the future when we are stuck with no more than miles of dirt and sand, and civilization in ruins near the original battlefields of the fourth world war. By then, the nuclear fallout from such war has caused a few people to gain certain abilities that are either god-like or demonic. You can choose which way to go, but you are stuck on that track until death itself has come for you. Your goal is to claim the blood of the demons you kill, however be aware that the more demons you kill, the more your life goes to waste. Soon, you will have to resort to using cold hard weapons that no longer have much ability to them without your blood circulating through them. Can you explore and conquer all of Chi? Will you run out of life-energy before you reach any goals? It will all be up to you, and remember to save often (around once every 15 minutes), there are certain points where you will easily be defeated since you do not have the necessary power and or the tools. There is no autosave. What I need help with: Character Design More Story Development Design of Weapons, Abilities, Items, and Such Art Ruby Coding Testers I am taking a maximum of 3 testers to test the game, write down all issues/bugs, then to report it in to us devs (5 if needed) I am taking a maximum of 5 character designers to make the characters (10 if needed) I am taking a maximum of 5 Writers to make the story (8 if needed) I am taking a maximum of 10 Item/Weapon/Ability/ect. Designers to design weapons and things alike (12 if needed) I am taking a maximum of 10 Artists to make concept art, in-game graphics, and such (15 if needed) I am taking a maximum of 6 Ruby Coders to make scripts for the game (12 if needed) Hopefully I'll get the positions filled up soon, as for I am eager to develop the game further. If I develop it alone, I am certainly to have a hard and long time working on it. I am not experienced in Ruby coding and certain art. However, I can certainly slowly work on the other jobs if needed. Anyone who helps is entitled to a fair share of the profits if sold on Steam and or such, however you do not have to recieve the payments if you wish not to do so. I will update this post once I get the team set up, it will have the main information of the game included. For now, this will be a placeholder telling of the information of the game and what I need right now.

  14. I've started tinkering on RPGMaker again ever since I worked on this little pet project of mine. I was supposed to make a series of short stories set in an urban fantasy setting, and I had jotted down almost all of the stuff that I wanted to include in it. Lore, characters, affiliations, overall themes, and whatever plotlines that seemed crazy enough to work. And, somewhere along the way, I realized that I wasn't making a story pitch anymore, instead I think I've made enough for a freaking board game. Enough to base an entire world on. So, I decided to try making a game based on what I've established for my works. Nothing solid yet though. Just making a few choice locations, characters, and scenarios so far then see if I can use them for an actual game later. If anything, I want to make this game-project as open-ended as a wide open sandbox RPG, stressing on exploration and community-building in a world where making and keeping connections (similar to Persona 3's Social Linking) is the only way to get through. I would also use it as an exercise in playing with, deconstructing, reconstructing, discussing, and lampshade-hanging several Eastern RPG tropes and mechanics that I've grown up with. I can't promise anything concrete yet, but so far the game would involve a silent protagonist, a newcomer to the big city, integrating himself in the living, thriving metropolis as well as the magic community hidden in it. Also, there is no plot. I repeat, no goddamn plot. No world-ending event, no evil overlord, no demonic invasion. Nothing that would ever need the help of a "chosen one". There's just you, the city, and all the ways you could ruin it, rule over it, or leave it as is. In other words, you can cause all those things mentioned earlier if you want. I would also like to explore and use these certain mechanics in the game: *A "mana pool"-system. Would work as a second form of currency, except that it would deplete until it fills your HP and MP bar to full. Can only be replenished by doing side jobs and missions with the magic community. *An equipment- and statbuff-based progression system where the player relies more on customizable buffs and weaponry instead of character classes and leveling up. The player uses the mana from said mana pool for this, as well as the next two mechanics. A "reputation/notoriety" meter that would gauge how much the player is well-known/loved/feared/respected in the magic community depending on your choice of behaviour and friends. You could gain or lose certain items and characters depending on how lawful/chaotic/whatever you are. > I think I can make this work using Events. A magic "Favor" system connected to the previous one, in which you gain the favor of certain lower-myth creatures, fellow magic-users, and even God-like beings if you ever get the latter's unwanted attention to learn new forms of magic. > again, Events, and maybe some tinkering in the Item and Equipment pages. *A "journal" option in the menu where we can keep track of events, past jobs, and connections. *I'd like some help from any of the programmers here in the RPGMaker forum if they can help whip up some of these marked mechanics like this for me. Thanks. I'm using this exercise as a way to work out a certain world view I've developed these past few months during my depression. I'm also hoping that this would also help me get me back on my feet again and help me deal with whatever life throws at me again. That's what I have in mind for my game as of this time. I'd love to hear some comments and critiques, if any
