    The Reimagining

    *reads last blog entry oh my... that's a lot. Anyway, I'll keep it short this time. I'll be recreating all 3 of my not-so-great-hits TOD the Grim Reaper, TOD the Grim Reaper 2 and TOD the Grim Reaper 3 into actually fully developed big Projects. I'll aim for the first Game to come out this year, if my Composer is fast enough. I had the same things in mind for the first 2 Games: -They are (still) going to be liniar -Because of the liniarity, I made up for it in some unique and twisted ways. I.e. You can miss your Party Members, but they will still join you regardless later on. You can miss out on great Treasures that will make it easier for you to go from area to area. Areas change dramatically after the Boss is defeated and opens up new paths for some other secrets. -Literally had 7 modes (of which 3 are basically just copy pasted) in mind for additional Challenges once you beat the Game, since they are so short and mind as well. In addition to Normal and Hard mode, the new modes are going to be - Lvl 1 (Normal) - Lvl 1 (Hard) - Time Attack (Normal) aka. Speedrun this under 1 hour - Time Attack (Hard) aka. Speedrun this under 45 minutes - Lvl 1 Time Attack (Normal) aka. Speedrun this under 45 minutes on Lvl. 1 - Lvl 1 Time Attack (Hard) aka. Speedrun this under 30 minutes on lvl. 1 - Ultimate Mode All are pretty self explanatory, except for Ultimate which I won't spoil the surprise for. (Which is probably the only thing I won't spoil from the Games) Since TOD 3 is another thing entirely, It won't have these fancy things at all, since it's multiple path based and this could just be an enourmous amounts of work, considering I'm planning to make sometihng even better than all these modes combined. But yeah, TOD 3 is basically just going to be another choose your own adventure with twists and turns and yadda. And it's also going to be the regular formula of "There's towns in this game you can chill out in!". ^^^^^^^^ if this is my definition of "I'll keep it short", then I will be hopeless in the future...

    Coders needed

    Howdy Everyone its me kirbyStarSword I am looking for Coder that is freely to help with our project. i'll give credit to coder for volunteering to the project, thank you and have a nice day. (Reason: It's the Battle system,(aka. action commands). which is timed hits i know galv timed hit and TSBS script it's good, but Galv's scripts does it not have the early or late timing its too perfect input. and for TSBS it takes longer to make other sprite and it dosent show how to input timed hits, maybe i wasn't looking or i did. and the hiring for Coder. i rather the feel like coder more than hiring it too much to waste. but I still give High credit to the coder anyway). Needed help with: -Action command (which like i said Timed hits)Defend/Attack/Skill Most of the information will be in game in Development topic don't want to put to much information to the recruitment

  5. Wish to the Stars – Plot and stuff – theory and development thread Hello everyone! With MV coming up soon, I've wanted to come up with a medium length RPG sort of in the vein of the older Final Fantasy games. And I thought that I could do this as a small project to show the capabilities of MV. Project Title: Wish to the Stars Rating: T Length: 6-8 hours Battle system: Sideview Plot Premise: The player takes the role of two siblings, the older Aiden, and the younger Aria. The live in a small village where they work as the local monster hunters for the village, although, it’s mostly fighting pathetic slimes, and chasing away the occasional wolf packs. Aiden finds the work boring to say the least. One night, while watching the stars with his sister, he utters a wish to be able to go on an adventure. The next morning the two awaken to the village under attack by a knight clad in black armor and a wizard dressed in sky blue robes. The two attempt to fight back, but are defeated and Aiden is taken. Aria wakes up three days later and sets out to find her brother and to discover why the knight and the wizard took him. Aiden, meanwhile, awakens in a cage in the camp of his captors. He devises an escape with a fellow prisoner and the two go on the run from the knight. The player will switch between the two every time a new chapter begins. Gameplay: The game will focus on combat and exploration. The combat will be a classic turn based rpg system that focuses more on synergy with party members. The none combat part of gameplay will focus on exploring areas and unlocking secrets, as well as visiting towns and having dialogue with NPCs.     Hello everyone, good day to you all. I have recently been thinking about how classes in RPGs, mostly how there is a hell of a lot of them, but I've also been wanting to come up with a new topic for this section of the forums, so I decided to come up with something of a group project: The RPGMaker Class Database! What is The RPGMaker Class Database(TRMCD for short)? Well, it's what it sounds like, a database here on the forums for people to post classes for others to use in their own games. I think this will be nice for anyone who has problems coming up with their own classes, or just want to use ones from other people on a short project and don't want to spend to much time coming up with stats, or strengths for certain classes. Rules: 1. You must include the following: -1a. Class name. -1b. Combat roles. (what they do in combat such as, Single target physical/magical damage, physical/magical defense, status effects, ect...) -1c. Strengths and weaknesses. (Things like elemental affinities, stat values - High, medium, low are fine, but you can give exact numbers if you want.) 2. Please nothing sexual, or offensive.     Project Neon

    Alright so my main project is condemned Project Neon. It's a futuristic cyberpunk game set in a city that's Dark, dirty, and overall realistic. There is no fairy tales here, I aim to make a awesome emotional rollercoaster. It has custom graphics (Just started so not many yet), custom music, and is it's own style. Story: You play a Girl who has One mission, stop the corruption of Neon city. You'll find secrets, be betrayed, fall in love, become something different. I don't want to ruin too much of the story since a bit I want to be an "WHOA"reaction. Sorry it's not too detailed as of now. It'll have traditional Jrpg mechanics along with new. I'm trying to make custom scripts as well. I aim for a big game that will take time to beat, and even more to truly complete. Tell me what you think, what you would like to see in it. Not too much, around four pages worth of stuff, but thought I'd share it to display what sort of narrative I'm looking to incorporate in my story. I've been influenced greatly by games such as Shadowrun (1993), Planescape: Torment (1999), Fallout: New Vegas (2010), and Shin Megami Tensei IV (2013). _______________________ Where was I going again? Am I running away from something, or.... Perhaps it was toward something instead? The air felt too thick to breathe in. My movements were that of an old man’s, I could barely see now. The sounds of chains hitting each other. The dance of gold and iron on my fingers. A cross which once had a purpose. I think I too had a purpose, a long time ago… But it’s a distant memory now. [Twenty-Eight Days Ago] [Mysterious Voice] “Oh, yes, I wonder how long it has been since I expected you to arrive here in this graveyard. It must’ve been…I’m actually not sure. It has been a long time, for sure, to the point where I can’t even count the number of years.†“Kehehehe…†“The journey is straight ahead, mnemomancer. I am the Undertaker, and the opportunity to offer my services once more is nothing less than absolutely thrilling for me.   11. The title itself makes no sense, but that's what my recent RM game is, in a nutshell. It's a horror game, something that should be somewhat simple to do, at least through what i've seen of the genre. I guess I got motivated to making a horror game due to my youtube existence with them. Like seriously, I was hook on the genre! Always seeing videos of them, such as Desert Nightmare, Mad Father, and Misao, and seeing how each displayed a scare factor of their own. My personal favorite of the horror RM games was Forest of Drizzling Rain. It contain some aspects of horror, but most of the game revolved on character developement. I always favor good story and character over gameplay, and that's what made me like Drizzling Rain so much. But I'm going off the train explaining this. I gotta talk about my own idea of a horror game, Not Me. So this is the summary of the game. Right here: This horror game's theme is entirely truth, and whether someone is telling it or not. You attempt to find a way out of the hellish alter-world of your university, all the while getting people to join your team. Problem is, those people joining your party can be demons. If you let said demon stay in your party too long, two things will occur. Either a party member(s) kicks the bucket, or instant game over. SO. how the hell you know which is which? This little joke tells how. "A man with brown hair walks into a bar. He sits, and ask the bartender for some whiskey. The bartender glares at him, and points him out the door, showing the man's ID card who was left behind yesterday. The ID, taken a week ago, has the same man with black hair. The man exits, shifts into a demon, and says "I WILL GET MY WHISKEY. WAIT AND SEE. WAIT AND SEE..." So that's the Ace Attorney thing of the game. You use evidence you find around the game to tell if someone is an ally, or a demon out for your head. Here's a concept of how the thing works in the spoiler. (BEWARE Scary Stuff!) You look at one of your members carefully (The middle image is the picture you'll see). You then are given a choice of either examine, question, attack, or ignore. Examine will show an image of the character head to toe, to see if there's an alteration of said character. Question will ask a question to character, to see if she says or reacts differently than normal. Attack will restrain the character, and give another choice to kill or ignore. These are pretty explanatory on what they do. Finally, ignore leaves them be. If you ignore the character, the event ends. If you ignore, and you have a good connection with said character, then s/he gives you positive feedback. (left image) If you done goofed, and ignore character that is actually a demon, then you (or party members) die. This isn't just limited to people, though. Objects can also be the demon's facade. So if you see a pink, flowery, happy present in your room, don't open it. The interaction bit is only for living characters and not inanimate objects. TL;DR ( <= What does this mean? I see it everywhere in big paragraphs...) My biggest question about all this is that is this an entertaining concept for a horror game? If so, ​is there ways to make it better? If not, what is wrong with it, and how can it be done in an entertaining fashion? Very huge thanks for any criticism on this, cause I'm going full throttle on this project if it works.   14. Greetings all, I'm new here but have been messing around with the program for about a week and a half. So far it seems great and it has been a good medium to translate a concept I've had for a few years. However my experience will only get me so far and already I can identify several core aspects of this game that exceed my scripting or artwork ability. This means that in the future, once I have fleshed out the concept some more, I may be seeking assistance from others in bringing this game to fruition.   16. So I need some feedback on a couple of things. Some background~ So I've been working on a story for over a year with some friends. Then in December 2013, I was bored and decided to buy rmvxa and create a TRPG because I saw GTBS and it looked pretty awesome (Love isometric games~). But the problem was that the story is mainly based around a single person, not a party. So rpg battle system wouldn't work out as nice since you would only have 1 player, 2 at max. So what I have been doing was writing a side-story that happening during the main story but through the point of view of a group of adventurers, which actually fit very nice. But recently I've been thinking of dropping Exscio;Plus, the side-story project, and going back to the original using a platformer system. I wouldn't mind working on both, since I'm in no rush to complete a game. Exscio Story Short Description: Question 1/Idea 1~ Now I was thinking of continuing Exscio;Plus, cause TRPGs are awesome, and work on the main story project while I write Exscio;Plus's story. But then I got to thinking, since they're both from the Exscio series, would it be ridiculous if the systems were different? For example Exscio 1~3 (main story has 3 parts) is a platformer, then when Exscio;Plus (side story) comes out it's a trpg. Which got me thinking if I should drop Exscio;Plus or fuse it with my project Eleven Days, and it'd have Exscio;Plus's graphics + charas + maps + different routes to reach the villain. Question 2~ As for the platformer, I recently started by I need some ideas on graphics style / Hud. Here's a screenshot of it atm: The parallax are in layers and each move at a different speed, farthest back (sky) doesn't move at all. For the hud, it seems really empty to me, I'm going to change the hp bar, to maybe like diamonds (Kind of like zelda has hearts), and not really sure if I should put a face portrait up there since I feel it'd be pointless since it's only 1 chara. For the AMP, you'll be able to equip 3 before jumping into the level. Amps are my game's skill system. You'll be able to change amps with Q, W (probably pick better keys) and cast them with Z or X depending on which one I choice for attack lol. After you use an amp it'll enter a cooldown period and you won't be able to cast it again until it has finished, but you can change amps while one is on cooldown, might have some passive amps which can increase run speed/ jump height, but can still have a dmg casting skill, but the passive will deactivate while it's on cool down (If you've played Guild Wars 2, that'd be like Signets). As for the platformer I'm not sure if I want it "flat" as it is, or add some depth and allow movement in the chara Y axis (Up, Down) Also need ideas for the keybinds Movement: LEFT, RIGHT Run: SHIFT Block: DOWN Jump: UP Atk: Z Skill: X Next Skill: Q Prev Skill: W Pause: ESC And finally I can't seem to find a good style for the tiles/character lol. I really like the parallax style because it's easy to draw since it's a flat color. So I'm open to opinions for the graphic style! But now that I think about it this game first story will mostly be in doors so I'm not sure if that parallax style will work. Also let me know of any additional ideas for the platformer! I feel it's a bit too simple/plain atm.

    "A Short Horror Story" project !

    Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! I hope you guys know you' ll always be welcome here ! I like to let others know what's on my mind. " Yeah but we don't care ! " So negative. If you don't wanna read this, just don't. However, some of you guys may already know Im currently writing for Rebirth Online and that Im searching for other projects to work on. So to prevent myself from becoming bored to death I tought of a project which I named " A Short Horror Story ". What is it ? Simple: every now and then, I would release an RPGMVX Ace game called " A Short Horror Story: <titlehere> ". I would bring legends, myths and ghost stories to life with the help of RPGMVX Ace. Maybe even adapting urban legends into a short game. Here's a list of games I KNOW I'll do: The Corriveau. It is a french horror story, based on real events. A young lady ( Lady Corriveau ) killed 7 of her husbands, in different and creative ways. When the police found out she was put into an iron cage which was hanged to a tree. She died because she didn't eat or drink for days and people were throwing rocks at her. It is said that every night, when someone passes where the Corriveau used to be, her spirit awakens and hunts that person. It is also said she mostly haunts men. Bloody Mary ( The Bloody Queen ). I think I don't have to explain to you guys what's her story. Basically, she was a queen who loved blood. She even took baths in it. She murdered many men and domestics that wouldn't listen to her.It is said that the nursery rhyme " Three blind mice " was inspired from her story: Bloody Mary "cut three men's tails" Three little piggies. Everybody knows about this. It was once three little piggies whom decided to build their houses. The first one built an much fragile house made in wool. The second one made its house in wood and the third one made its house in bricks. However, an hungry wolf tries to blow their houses away. The wolf succeeds in blowing the wool and wood houses, but cannot blow away the house made of bricks. The wolf then has the brilliant idea to enter the house from the chimney, where he falls into a chauldron full of HOT water then dies. Ring Around The Rosy. Everyone knows this nursery rhyme. A modified version of this nursery rhyme appeared in Dead Space. It is said this nursery rhyme was inspired by a ravaging disease that caused many deaths years ago. These being stories, many different versions of them exists. I will try to take the most popular version and turn it into an horror game inspired from it. So I wrote about it all day long and ended up with having a pretty interesting storyline. I submitted the story to the game's creator and I am waiting for its answer ! I hope it will be positive ! If I'll need to make some changes to my story I won't mind that much, there is always place to better ideas when reviewing your storyline again with the game creator.     Wake (Upcoming Game)

    I don't have a project page for Wake yet, I still need some more screenshots. Meanwhile, here is some info on it. Wake is a side project I started recently, to train myself for The Beneath, a much bigger game that I've made significant progress on, but I want it to be a great final product. So this is a short game (But it is planned to have 5 installments) based on a short story I wrote last year. The game is heavily driven by visuals and music, creating dark, eerie gameplay. Through each installment, a big story is slowly revealed to the main characters, changing in each part. They each have one thing in common: they are centurie-old beings called Ancients, reincarnated by the gods to stop Destroterus, an evil mage, from eliminating every being from the world and infesting it with his new race, Screechers. In part 1 of Wake, you are one of those Ancients, a man named Jicko, who never knew his full power until his memory was wiped by Destroterus and he wakes up in a dark forest trying to find out what's happening, and who he is.     So I've decided to blog my efforts to create a Ultima series - esk game. This project (Deemed "Ultima Virtuous") plays out in the Ultima world during Ultima 7 (I eventually hope to include Serpents Isle (A game sequel) to this but that's FAR FAR in the future) I have been working dilligently (1-3 hrs a day on average) for about a month and due to my lack of scripting skills, it has taken me quite a while to combine and get these scripts to work together, and to MY expectations. That has been the majority of my work so far as well as collecting a citing authors of graphic, music, ect for my credits list. So, Onward to the actual game This Game Bases EVERYTHING on Vlue's Day/Night system, and gives it a very realistic feel (I think?) Along with Khans Lighting System, Vlad's Blasphemy ABS, Vlue's Climate Scrip, Modern Algebra's Quest Journal, Mog_Hunters Animated Title-save-load screens, and Pretty much 3/4th of all of Yanflys scripts. It took a while... That being said, they all work pretty flawlessly together, my computer has issues handling anything though can't be 100% sure A quick synopsis on the Ultima series history. I'm gunna try to make it in just one paragraph -The Ultima series (since game 4) bases its sense of right and wrong with an 8 virtue system (that WILL get implemented at some point ) based on 3 Principles: Different combinations of these 3 principles create a different one of 8 Virtues: Compassion, Justice, Honesty, Valor, Honor, Sacrifice, Spirituality, & Humility. The "Avatar" is the only 'known' person to have mastered these virtues and become a beacon, example, & legend to the people of the world called Britannia. In the 7th -9th installment of the series a fiendish character by the name of "The Guardian" (Hence the Screen name ) informs the avatar that he will 'lead' the good people of Britannia to a glorious future and that he will the theirs and the Avatars "Friend, Guardian, and Master!" He is obviously the main antagonist. Whew... one paragraph, So bomb! I've also found a way to ~somewhat~ synthesize the Guardians voice (After 2 hours of searching EVERYWHERE no sound clips of him could be found) and he will antagonize the Avatar throughout the game. A class system will be implemented so while the player may be addressed as the avatar, they will have to activate all the Virtues in order to get that class and win the game. Other things to be implemented or I'm in the process of are: Class Virtue points? Crafting: -Wood -Ore & Metals -Gemstones -Tinkering -Alchemy -Blacksmithy and i'm sure i forgot something here but you get the idea. This is a VERY ambitious project and I am still looking for some things as well so any spriters or...face drawers? that may read this let me know if you could provide me with some custom sprites and faces since I have very little experience doing it and was... incredibly unable to do it myself A demo should be posted within a week so if your wanting to 'Check out that Ultima re-make' you can At this moment I have this stuff complete! 2 complete quests, 1 semi-complete quest, 1st circle of spells (AWSOME common events, this is cool, gotta check it out ), Mining (for Crafting), the Map and all coorisponding buildings of Paws + the Fellowship making its first appearance as... well... the Fellowship. as well as the secret place in U7 in trinsic (I put it in paws, but you know where to go if you ever played ) Well thats all I can think of at the moment.     The Shadow Project

    Hello ladies and gentlemen of the RMVX Ace website, I would like to introduce a game project that I am currently working on. As you can see I'm currently calling it the "Shadow Project", don't take it that it's a horror game. When I reveal the real name of the game, you'll understand why it's called that. I have been working on it for 2-3 months on RMVXAce, but I've been working on it for over 8 months. Creating characters, back stories, the world they live in, and the events that could unfold during this adventure. Along with some other stuff. Soon, I shall have a recruitment post on the forums themselves. That way if anyone is interested in the game I'll have a structured way of you being able to sign up.
