His purpose, to unravel the cause of the war. Magnus is accompanied by the Paladin Hyperion who knows more than he lets on. As he journeys Safehaven and uncovers the truth about the war, friends are made and a band is formed to save Treter, the world sealed beneath. (Battle of the Heaven's should keep the player busy for hours to come.) MAGNUS ZARKODIOUS The hero and protagonist of this epic tale. Magnus Zarkodius born from ancient ancestry, a Terraphim related to the Celestial's charges for battle. He's a vigorous warrior with a knack for rushing into the front lines. HYPERION SHADOWBREAKER Holding the "Seal of Metatron", Hyperion's power is known throughout of the kingdom. His purpose is to unify the kingdom using the seal and restore order to the once dominant lightbearers, the Paladins. LUCEAL The fallen Celestial of the light. Lucy sees all the terror awaiting Safehaven's future and has to prevent its demise. She is bound to the Kapyre's recovering from the blackness of the void. VAMPIRO MELLOW Half Vampire, half Elf commanding the Red Knights, Mellow is a titan. She prevents the Elves from getting into conflict thanks to her brethren with the use of her tamed hell hounds. When the war ends she uncovers the conspiracy to reconstruct the order in Safehaven.   2. I've got some mapshots of Catty Lands dungeons (made with Tsukihime's mapshot script). This first one I want to show you is the Catwalk of Aeons, floors 1-7: The idea with this dungeon is that, while the first two floors are pretty standard, the player then must overcome "four elements" based challenges. There are obstacles that you can only get past by using magic spell items that you would previously buy. The dangers include dangerous objects, damage floors, hidden pits and one pond in the water level that you will slide into on the ice tiles unless you use magic to freeze it. The first level contains a pit that you must use a certain kind of spell to cross, and there's a clue as to which you should use. The air level contains a puzzle in which you have to step on the hexagrams in the correct order to proceed. The cats on the second level pose riddles which are questions about previous in-game events. The last floor is simply one where a cutscene happens. The giant hexagrams are healing spots. With each floor, the idea was to keep the general style throughout while putting in some of each element. Finally, I know the doors look like they don't align correctly, but in the actual game they do. I will post other dungeon maps later. Thoughts?

  5. Greetings fellow gamemakers! Flashy enough for you? I'm not an attention starved internet puppy, I promise! Well, Hi! I'm Saturnity or Saturn for short, or you can just call me by name, Jeremy, but that's kind of weird... Unless you are my best friend from the future, then it's totally cool. (I'm not just in it to steal your time machine, I swear...!) Anyway, call me whatever you want! Well, actually, no DON'T do that, please <3 NOW to the meat and gravy: I'm an aspiring game designer of 25 and steadily... growing... older... I might not actually survive that time machine trip, now that I think about it. This here creaky back-o-mine and all that jazz. Okay, getting too distracted.... I'm currently attending the Art Institute of Phoenix in AZ for a major in Game Art and Design, and have been an avid artist ever since I was a wee brat, so I have quite a bit of a portfolio in that area of things. Once you get to know me, you'll find that I'm very sporadic, I love to write, cook and deliver snappy (not really snappy... at all ) punchlines for bad jokes, which everyone seems to laugh at anyway(?) I don't get it, but as long as it works! I love seeing people smile and laugh, it's literally the best thing in the world. Strangely enough, I also love seeing scared reactions to scary movies and games, possibly more than the laughing... well... definitely more than the laughing... because scared people make ME laugh... is that so wrong!? I'm currently in progress designing a game called "Cryptic" on RMVX Ace. It's a dark horror/fantasy story I've been writing since I was in Junior High School, which I eventually decided would probably make a fun game (we'll see about that). Cryptic is a story that's very dear to my heart, and I've poured a lot of time into brainstorming and getting attached to my characters that I sometimes delude myself into thinking they're rea- I'M NOT CRAZY DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT! But really, I'm super attached to my characters and love them to death, and I want other people to come to love them like I do. Getting them murdered in intensely grotesque ways for no reason whatsoever is cool too... I guess To each their own? IF YOU EVEN CONSIDER HURTING MY CHARACTERS I'LL... I'LL... ... NEVER LET YOU TASTE THESE WONDERFUL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES THAT I'M NOT REALLY HOLDING IN MY HANDS RIGHT NOW Well, if you haven't run away yet, you get mad props for putting up with my insidiously evil and witty banter. Anyway, taking a break from disturbing you lovely VICTIMS COOL PEOPLE, I'm always open to MURDER CHAT, and look forward to meeting new friends and colleagues.   6. Zenman Empire is the greatest nation in the world. It's located in the central region and surrounded by the bloodthirsty Martia Kingdom (formerly the Martia Tribes) in the north, the deceptively powerful Amazail Kingdom in the south, and the unpredictable House Lagidis in the west. Each year, the vassal factions must pay a tribute with gifts, weapons, women and gold to the Zenman. Its capital city, Zalumi, has been protected by the four most powerful noble families. Those four families are the Sutherlands, the Pantelakos, the Totens and the Rileys. One morning, Leonardo, the only child of the Sutherlands, was nowhere to be found. The news shocked the whole nation. People freaked out by the mysterious disappearance of Leonardo, a young nobleman with unlimited potential. Meanwhile, in the north, Martia Kingdom has been staring at Zalumi for years. The Amazailian are also lurking around from the south. Both of them are growing tired of being a vassal nation. They are getting tired of paying tributes to the Zenman Empire. They have been watching Zalumi like a hawk, waiting for a chance to take action. Sources from the Iron Eagle from Zuda Kingdom revealed that Martia and Amazail have been trying to form an alliance. If the two indeed become allies and something happens in Zalumi, they will launch an invasion to Zenman. With their powerful forces, they should reach the capital in no time. The once great Zenman Empire suddenly faced two big threats from both the north and south. The conservatives in Amazail - led by Gaer Capulet, the General Eunuch - always want to maintain the status quo. They always want a peaceful environment for economic development. They are against wars and want to maintain good relationships with neighboring countries, especially Zenman Empire. The Amazailian conservatives obviously want to prevent the alliance so they can prevent the war from happening. It seems that they are the only hope to stop this madness. General Characteristics ✓ Jumping, lock picking, finding secret treasures (chests), solve mysteries, explore hidden caves. ✓ Scripted side-view battle system with visible opponents (no forced random encounters or invisible monsters). More aggressive beasts are going to chase you down. The bandits obviously will approach you. Less aggressive opponents will leave you alone, unless you attack first. ✓ A more realistic spoils system that make more sense. You won't see the "heroes" broke into people's houses, open chests and take the gold away right in front of the owners. It just doesn't make any sense. Beasts and some monsters don't drop gold. Why would a wolf carrying around gold? How does it carrying gold anyway? In this game, they drop body parts instead. You can sell body parts for some quick money or save it to build weapons/armors in the shops. You won’t see any chest in a public place and people around doesn’t even bother to get it. You won’t see any chest in jungles, deserts. Other types of reward are available. We’re trying to make everything a bit more realistic and get rid of some common annoyances in a J-RPG. ✓ The game features a loosely and flexible classes system. The game focuses on characters, every character is unique and different from each other, depends on their figure, appearance, schools, profession, orientation and career path, as well as fighting style and cultural background. ✓ Grinding is unnecessary. All you need to do to win this game is to be careful with each decision, look out for quests and secrets, managing your money wisely and using your skills, potions and items precisely, and... save often. We're trying to make this game and other games in the series unique and different from other RPGs in the market. We have made many little tweaks to make it different from other RPGs and hopefully better experience for you. Specific Gameplay Features ✓ There are tools and gadgets for exploring secrets and finding treasures. ✓ A more diverse and non-linear boulder system for puzzles. After you got the quest to gather the party, which party member will you come to see first? ✓ We focus on the growth of the characters, on not only levels and skills but also intelligent, maturity, confidence, mental toughness, and personality. The plots and dialogues will be managed very carefully to execute that plan. Leonardo is the only child of the Sutherlands, one of the four most powerful families in Zenman Empire. Unlike other spoiled brats that we used to see in royal and noble families, he is a nice gentleman with kindness and compassion. He never lacks of enthusiasm. He's been groomed to be the next great nobleman. Unfortunately, during one morning, a servant brought food to Leo's room in the Sutherlands' mansion and the young master is nowhere to be found. The Sutherlands and the Imperial Court have searched everywhere for him but have not find anything. Rhyna is the daughter of an Amazailian noble and an Elf from Everland. She always has a pure love for Leonardo. She isn't sure what kind of love is that, but it didn't prevent her from cling onto him and made him promised to have a big wedding with her when she grows up. Elves sometime can be very lovely and straightforward. They don't hide their emotion like human does. A long time ago, Rhyna's father, Frank Slade, tired of the political struggles in the Imperial Court and ran away from home. He also ran away from a pre-arranged marriage that his family forced upon him. He traveled to Everland and met Rhyna's mother, Fydia. They eventually fell in love. However, when Frank took Fydia home to introduce her to his family. His family freaked out because she is an Elf. Obviously, they were against this marriage. Frank angrily left the house and swore to never return. Frank eventually married Fydia anyway. They wandered around the world fighting corrupted officials as well as bandits and monsters. Later, Rhyna was born. Years later, Fydia passed away because of an injury in a battle. Frank is still taking Rhyna wandering around the world to this day. However, the death of his wife woke him up. He is unsure of their current lifestyle. He is not confident in his ability to protect his daughter. He's been thinking about going back home to Amazail, but still reluctant due to his pride and ego. If he's really care about Rhyna's safety then he'll have to make some hard decisions. Gaer Capulet is the General Eunuch of the Amazailian Imperial Court. He was Frank's teacher when he was younger. He taught Frank magic and the art of fighting. Gaer single handedly defends the peace in Amazail Kingdom. He is the number one public enemy of the liberals, including the military leaders. They want wars. Gaer wants peace. The liberals and military leaders want wars so they can sell weapons, and so they can get huge military funds. Gaer basically block them from making money on people's corpses. Therefore, he must die! The liberals have been trying to assassinate Gaer for years. Nevertheless, he keeps on survive. Some of the liberals and military leaders were also mysteriously vanished or perished. Gaer is not a person who just stands there and doing nothing. He will retaliate. He is a peacekeeper, but he's also one of the most dangerous person in Amazail Kingdom. Wherever he is, wherever he goes, someone tries to murder him! Yet, he's still here. * An Eunuch is an official who is very close to the kings and the royal families. He helps them with day-to-day operations. Every Eunuch is either homosexual or had been castrated before they can serve the Imperial Court. This practice is an effort to forbid the inappropriate relationships between the Eunuchs and female members of the royal families, as well as to prevent adultery and scandals in the Imperial Court. As the General Eunuch, Gaer is the leader of all the Eunuchs in the Amazailian Imperial Court. No one knows what her name is. No one knows what she looks like. Everyone refers to her simply as "The Orc Princess". However, everyone knows her father, Murlock, the Slaughterer. He is the most feared humanoid monster in the world. He is a legendary leader and widely considered the Orc's greatest fighter of all time. While her father locked himself inside the mountain to practice magic, she is the one who leads the Orcs and manages everything from top to bottom. She has done everything behind the scene, therefore, no outsiders ever saw her. There are rumors that she is hiding behind the mountains and never shows up in the public is because of her bad appearance. People speculated that she's so ugly that she's afraid to show her real face. The setting of this game is in Shaola, a different world in another galaxy. Shaola is a world of love and war. It's a world of romance and power struggles between 1 empire, 8 kingdoms, 1 republic, 25 smaller factions and 4 main races. Main human factions: I. Zenman Empire, the largest and one of the oldest nations in the land. II. Martia Kingdom, a nation of war and violence. III. Ankania Kingdom, an old and weak kingdom that formerly a rival to the Zenman Empire in the past (thousands of year ago). At the present, it's widely considered the most cowardly kingdom in the world. IV. Amazail Kingdom, deceptively the strongest and most powerful nation. V. Zuda Kingdom & Kazen Kingdom, together, these two small kingdoms formed the Southern Double Alliance. Zokang Kingdom and Green Kingdom (common usage: Greendom) is located on Everland, an island on the Eastern Sea, southeast of the mainland. They have unique cultures and customs. The islanders dress differently from the mainland people. Therefore, the mainlanders called them "The Weirdoes of the Far East". VII. Republic of Aquilon, the most civilize and technological advance nation in the world. It's an isolated country that located on the other side of the Great Desert. In the past, there were some smaller neighboring countries but Aquilon conquered all of them, as swords and arrows have no chance against guns and bullets. Except for Iron Eagle agents, no one from the other side of the Desert has set foot on Aquilon. Other races: I. Elves are well known for their grace and mastery of magic and weapons such as the sword and bow. They are famously long-lived, capable of living much longer than the average human. Slightly smaller and shorter than the average human, elves tend to be quicker, faster, slender and graceful, this is reflected in a bonus to Agility and a penalty to Physical Defense. The Elves were divided into two basic groups: the Wood Elf and the High Elf. Wood Elves are a reclusive race, preferring to the old ways of life in forests and jungles. They are conservatives who preferring old habitats in tropical woods. They are hiding and staying far away from human. Trees are their friends and wild beasts are their main source of food. The Wood Elves have been produced some of the finest hunters, archers and bowmen. Majority of them have been living in Greendom. A Wood Elf in Greendom. The High Elves were once members of the Wood Elves, the original group of elves. They are liberals who decided to go live in the cities with human. Other races commonly encounter them. They're the most open and friendly of their kind. They believe in peaceful coexistences. They travel to everywhere, while Wood Elves stay in the woods. The decision of the High Elves to leave the woods always has been controversial. Some of them have found success and happiness in serving human, even in the local government or Imperial Court. Some of them having great career as bounty hunters or mercenaries. However, others have been miserable, suffering from depression and having to endure unemployment and hunger. Some have sold themselves to the slave owners. Others have been forced into slavery. The High Elves have been produced some of the best swordsmen in the land. Overall, the Elves are the largest minority community in the world. A High Elf serving a Human kingdom. II. Dwarves are very short, but are wise and have great strength. They dwell in mountain and in the earth, and are good at smithing and mining. They are the second largest minority community. Dwarves tend to be miners. They have a natural fascination with minerals (especially iron and gold) and feel more comfortable underground. They are much shorter and stockier than Men, Elves and Orcs. They able to withstand both heat and cold and have a longer average lifespan than the average human. They are great metalworkers, smiths and stoneworkers. Fierce in battle, their primary weapons are hammers and have produced a lot of great axemen, but they also use many type of weapons including large crossbows, broadswords, falchions, pikes, slingshots and shields. Dwarves live in anywhere that has mountains, mines and minerals. Dwarves don’t need to sleep as much as human do. They are diligent, hardworking and work in the mines through days and nights. All they need is few hours of resting. Consequently, dwarves are unaffected by sleep-inducing magic and effects. While Men, Elves and Orcs generally hate each other, the Dwarves have stayed neutral. Their ultimate goal is to find their traditional ally, the Snow Palace on the Snow Mountain, a hidden and mysterious place that no one has discovered. According to ancient books, the Snow Palace are the Dwarves most trustworthy, reliable and closest ally from thousands of year ago. "The Boss", leader of The Luxia, the world's largest international underground criminal organization. Yes, he is a Dwarf. He is also a leader of the Dwarves community. Everyone called him "The Boss" out of fears and respects. No one seems to remember his real name. III. Orcs basically are a large group of bully. They are the third largest race of humanoid creatures, behind the Elves and the Dwarves. They are brutish, aggressive, repulsive and generally malevolent species and generally pressed into the service of some evil powers. They are tall, big and strong who are used as soldiers, slaves and henchmen by the greater villains. They are miserable beings, hating everyone including themselves and their masters, whom they serve out of fear. They make no positive things, but rather invent cunning devices made to hurt and destroy. Majority of the Orcs have been led by "Murlock, the Slaughterer", a legendary leader and the Orc's greatest fighter of all time. He has claimed to united all the Orcs and fight for their freedom. He called for fellow Orcs to revolt and kill all their masters. He has even bigger ambitions to unite all minorities (Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, other monsters and demons) and declared war against the human. Murlock and majority of the Orcs reside in Amazail.   9. I feel like I'm probably missing something small and obvious but I have no idea what it is... I deleted all my scripts and the problem persists so I think I did something in the database to mess with the battle formula. The screens I've compiled show one skill but I tried another with a flat 50 damage and it doesn't get applied either. Anyone know what could be causing me to show the animation but not apply the battle formula (Now that I think of It I may have altered a line or two regarding TP in the Game_ something but I don't see how that could be it..

  14. Hey guys, it's me, Takeo! This here is a new project I started up last week and have gotten rather excited about. I currently have another, much bigger Fantasy RPG in progress but have decided to step back and take a break from it. I put way to much into the RPG considering it is my first game. Anyway! Nyctophobia is a game that should test your strength when it comes to the dark. I personally have a fear of the dark, and of shadows and silhouettes so i hope I can put that fear to use when creating this. The name is simply the used name for "fear of the dark".
  15. Abstract: An adventure across a country to save your home from an outside threat. Genre: Fantasy Game Progression: 2 Hours of gameplay done so far, story skeleton completed. Average Demo Time: 2 hours, but that's for me, who knows how enemies fight and would talk to most npcs to make sure they work right. Playable Characters Non-playable Characters Known Issues: None that I am aware of that are big enough to be a progression blocker. Thank you to Tsarmina for telling me how to do spoilers, so I shall add some more things to this post. I also seem to be unable to post replies on this topic, so I'll respond to the question here: As I understood it the Showroom was for games that were early in development. Although I have a demo and it is 2 hours long, I have seen other Showroom topics with demos and (although some of those demos have ranged from 10-30 minutes) I still consider 2 hours in to be early in development. As I plan it, the 2 hours of the demo would be like... 5% of the game. So, it's a big project, maybe too big for a first (although it is really like my 3rd counting things I've dropped), but I'm gunna stick with it. Well, if you think it would be better suited for the Gameroom still, I wouldn't object. Also the Gameroom seems more "classy," and though I don't know of any major issues with the demo as is, I'd like some people to try it out a bit maybe, lol.

Game Overview: Several eons after the "Aurora", the event that caused the first rays of light to shine out into the black abyss, darkness seeks to return to it's peaceful serenity. One by one the bastions of light have fallen, the line of Gods is at an end. The Final God of Light, Talinious, has been imprisoned, none of his progenitors remain to send aid. If this, the final bastion of light falls, all the universe will become darkness again. There is but one hope to stop the darkness from destroying everything, free Talinious and restore the line of the Gods. There is but one key to unlocking the void, the mortal to do so must be pure of heart. For if they falter, the gateway to the greater enemy will be open. At present, tensions between the nations of Forvania and Mogard are again rising. These former allies now vie for power and control of the political factions within their borders. However a more nefarious power works to manipulate both sides of the conflict to move about it's business unseen. Tharis has been tasked with the mission his Father cannot fulfill, to restore the God of Light to is former place. And at every turn, the world will seek to tempt him from his path, yet remaining vigilant is the only option if he hopes to succeed. Genre: This is a High Fantasy/SNES style J-RPG Game Progression: The game's development has been hankered a few times, however most of these hiccups are due to getting and listening to feedback by the community. In the end the game experience and story progression will benefit from the extended development time. Gameplay: A Quick note on the gameplay of this RPG. I am designing this to be as tactical as I can, which means that you will want to read the descriptions of each of your character's abilities, weapons, and armor so that you know when and how to use them. This will not be a game where spamming the attack button will win the day, outside of your standard battles (and even some of those will require more thought). I don't want to make this game a tactical nightmare, however I refuse to make it "too easy". That being said if you do read your abilities, weapons, and armor descriptions, and understand when and where to use them this should make for a fun and interesting game. Characters: Many of you will have noticed that The characters' original portraits have been removed. This is because I am currently in the process of commissioning new bust artwork by RoninDude of Deviant art. to give an idea of eventually what the characters will all look like here are some previews. Talinious Astris Tayron Bidden by his Father at a young age to prepare to fight the forces of darkness (and as well the very nature of being mortal). With the duty to provide the key to unlocking the gate at the forefront of his mind, Tharis is often asked to make hard choices for the sake of the existence of everything. Though he bares his burden well, sometimes cracks in the façade begin to form. This, is where his enemies will strike at him the hardest at his very heart and soul. Class - Paladin: These are the blessed warriors of Talinious, lost long ago after the God of Light fell into darkness and obscurity. Paladins engage foes head on, prefering to stay ahead of the damage and protecting their allys with a number of heavenly skills. They were originally trained by the God of Valor to fight with no fear, as such they are far less vulnerable to mind effecting spells. Effective Roles: Main Tank, Ally Buffs Strengths: High Defense, High Willpower, High Spirit, High Health Skills/Functions: Battle skills dealing primarily physical damage, also has limited acess to miracles which heal and buff defensive and offensive statistics. Weaknesses: Low Agility, Low Attack, Low Mana. Tharis is susceptible to Area of effect attacks due to his low agility, also skills and attacks that target agility as the defensive mitigation will be particularly effective against him. As we first meet Arysana we catch a glimpse of a girl who would like to lead a normal life, however we quickly find out that she is anything but normal. Born with the ability to manipulate the elements of the world around her, she often has no clue how to control her gift. This causes some issues with the Townsfolk of Bayle as they fear her power to destroy. Frequently a point of ridicule for the poor girl, her abilities have branded her a freak, and as such she has learned to be very fiery in her own defense. Despite the fact that she gets heated she is also quick to forgive. Arysana's gifts are not only rare, but actually unheard of, in all the study of magic (which in Liphidain is not extensive by any means) no one has ever been able to do what she does. This fact, combined with the stigma that most mages feel outside the big cities, make Bayle a very awkward place for Arysana to grow up. Class - Scion: The Scion is a gift from the heavens. Using magic in ways not seen by other mages, the scion is theorized to be decended from a celestial lineage, and thus granted access to the powers of creation and destruction, as are all celestials. Effective Roles: High Damage, Battle Control Strengths: High Willpower, High Spirit, High Agility, High Mana Skills/Functions: Arysana primarily deals damage and is effective against both large groups and single targets, she has limited access to debuffing and debilitating skills but most of these will effect whole groups rather than a single target. Weaknesses: Low Defense, Low Health Arysana is highly ;vulnerable to stunning effects, due to light armor. Her evasion is much higher than that of Tharis or Balidor, but if struck with a stun she will likely not resist. Balidor is the often underappreciated younger brother of Bayle's local hero, Fadar. He is driven by motivations of proving himself beyond his brother's notoriety. He wants to be able to step out from behind Fadar who seems to have eclipsed him since birth. Balidor is Loyal, and as many young teenagers quick to anger. His distain for his brother has become quite potent recently to the point of being unhealthy for their relationship as family. Class - Champion: These fighters are often found in the frontlines of the battlefield, because of this, they are effective at engaging multiple foes all at the same time. Effective with their chosen weapon to the point of deadly precision, Champions rarely miss their targets. Effective Roles: Secondary Tank, Area Damage Strengths: High Attack. High Agility, High Defense Skills/Functions: Balidor operates best when engaging multiple targets at once. Many of his skills have a modifier for defense. As such, High Defense will actually raise Balidor's damage as well. Weaknesses: Low Spirit, Low Willpower, Low Luck Balidor will not be able to withstand many magical attacks, because of this penchant for using metal armors and weapons he is particularly vulnerable to fire and lightning. Skills that use a target's defense against itself will be particularly effective against Balidor as well. Edwin is the younger brother of Arysana, he is obsessed with becoming an adventurer. He would do anything for his older sister. He often sympathizes with her as she is rejected by the entire town. He does on occasion tease her about her 'gifts' but usually at the wrong time, as is the case with most younger brothers. He looks up to Tharis, and enjoys his company as he seems to be of like mind. Class - Rogue: This profession is often entangled with illegal activity. Swooping in and taking that which is not theirs and leaving undetected is a skill many would not consider learning, but for those that do it can be quite profitable. When stuck in a jam, rather than wasting time slowly killing their foes one blow after another, rogues prefer to weaken enemies and be as efficient as possible, ending battles before having the opportunity to loose too much blood, or gold. Effective Roles: Debuffs, Damage Strengths: High Agility, High Evasion, High Luck Skills/Functions: Edwin's skills are primarily based on agility. Often Edwin lowers the effectiveness of an enemy's defensive statistics, this opens an opportunity to use another skill that takes advantage of that weakness and debilitates yet a new statistic. This being the case Edwin's major strength, when fighting, is to open opportunities to gain an advantage over the enemy during battle and turning an enemy's strength into their biggest weakness. In this Edwin is effective in controlling the flow of battle and turning the tide for the party. Weaknesses: Low Defense, Low Health, Low Attack, slow to gain TP to use for combo skills Because Edwin's attack is low, using his standard attack is not very effective and thus a lack of TP can be a point of frustration to his combination attacks. Also the player must know which attacks to use in combination with others for his damage to be effective, this can slow the battle down when first learning to use this character. Also Edwin is easily damaged by earth and wind based attacks due to his use of light cloth armors. Aylindra is part of an Honorguard called the Astril. They are crusaders that protect the Astrialus, the gateway to the crystal palace of Astris, Goddess of Love. She is passionate and driven. When confronted with the idea that the Goddess, may have had something to do with the down fall of another God, not only does she disbelive it, she actively tries to disprove such blasphemy. She joins Tharis, not only to protect Lynnessa (a priestess of Astris), but to show him the error of his ways. What she will find will open her eyes forever. Class - Astril: The Honorguard of Lady Astris, Goddess of Love. The Order of the Astrialus was created after Humanity was nearly wiped out, following the great celestial war. Forvan, the Hero that rallied the humans behind the banner of hope, established these warriors as a replacement for the lost paladins. Over time, as changes were made to the order, only women were allowed to join. These fighters employ great passion on the battlefield and are relentless and focused. They target one opponent at a time either using the enemy's strength's against themselves or simply overpowering them, they take battles one fight at a time. Effective Roles: Secondary Tank, Single Target Damage Strengths: High Agility, High Attack, High Spirit, High Willpower Skills/Functions: Aylindra's skills are (like Edwin's) Primarily agility based. Her damage is focused on one single target at a time, with very few skills that hit more than one enemy. She does not debilitate her foes but does use some of their strengths against them making her and Ediwn a very effective pair in battle. Weaknesses: Low Defense, Low Health Aylindra is not effective against swarms of enemies, because of her low defense, being hit multiple times in succession can be a point of detriment to her. Use of metal armors makes her weaker to Fire and Lightning. Lynnessa is the cousin to Arysana she has wanted to be a priestess her whole life. Most of the clergy of Astris are male despite the fact that the Diety is not. However some of the most influential of Astris' Acolytes are Female. Lynnessa has no ambition for power, or fame, she simply wants to serve the Goddess. One of the tenets of the religion is to fall deeply in love, and even though she has not admitted openly, this is secretly why she wants to be a priestess. When Tharis comes to Forvania to find Arysana, and brings news of potential treachery on the part of the Goddess, she feels it is her duty to get to the bottom of the accusation. Class - Priestess: After the fall of Talinious, most all of the major cities were decimated, in every case the first targets were the chapels and churches, as the large demonic horde washed over Liphidain like a wave of filth. After the war was ended, Astris herself appeared to the humans that were left. She promised her protection, and from this point forward no one remembered the other gods. Astris' priests are given acess to the goddess's ability to heal and and protect as part of the fulfillment of that promise. Some of the more trusted clergy are given acess to the offensive abilities the Goddess harbours, but only in limited amounts. Effective Roles: Healer, Ally Buffs Strength: High Willpower, High Spirit, High Luck Skills/Functions: Lynnessa's primary function is to buff and keep the party alive. Her healing skills often have multiple effects beyond restoring health. The temporary buffs of these healing abilities are to prevent frequent repeats of the same spells over the course of a battle. Leaving more time for Lynnessa to apply more effective, offensive buffs to the group. Weaknesses: Low Mana, Low Health, Low Defense Lynnessa's mana pool will prove to be a detriment to the priestess, she has a wide array of skills but a very low pool of resources to use these skills from. She will often need to recharge her mana mid-battle in order to maintain effective coverage of the team's health. She will have skills that will help to alleviate this problem but they are not immediately effective and must be planned, in order for Lynnessa to maintain adequate mana.   17. I keep getting an error message while using Reedo's side-view battle system script. I have looked everywhere for a fix, but cannot find a solution.   18. Hello! I'm working seriously on a non-commercial project so I might use these tiles depending on the replies, or look for an artist to help me with those. Anyway, this is my first time making tiles by myself and I would like some opinions about them. I will separate some questions (just answer if interested, but I still would like to hear your opinion about these ^^) 1- Do you think it blends with the ambient? 2- Do you think I should ask a real artist for help instead of using my own sets? 3- Some of those were edited from the original files.   19. Hey guys, not sure if this will get released here, or to the public, but like yesterday I decided to try using events to create a battle system in RMVX Ace. Action Button System (ACBS) - Who knows maybe it'll give scripters an idea if they want to make a system like this. Updated: It's basically like Valkrie Profile mixed with project X Zone. If you go to attack, you can hold up on the keyboard to do an almost ariel move. You have different keys that restore, or allow you to defend. It is turn based, but seems there's a bug that allows you to attack or give you more turns. Might create a stamina bar, that builds so you can beat up the foe more. This might also go with foes. Sprites and such are pictures, so it's a bit meh with how they move around now, but working at making it smoother, maybe even using more animation for places. But thought I'd share it with you guys. Just let me know what you think. Extra credits go to MogHunter for the health bar and the picture effects. Also to sprite rippers and background artist.. Gabe Kuo sprite is mine. Eventing is me.. Still have random hp damage calculations to do, but I'll get to it. That's gonna be fun lol

Title: The Song that Binds Us Genre: Fantasy Drama Author's Note: I was stuck for a long while in a funk developing A House God Built, so I went and tried my hand at another storyline in my notebook I formerly called "Morbus Cantata". But that sounded funny, so I made it kinda deep, like "Gurl, you're so deep, I can't see you anymore" deep. So yeah, have a read. PLOT: Morgan and Elliot defected from a Mercenary's Guild after a mission went wrong, and now they're forced to go into hiding and escape their clutches. But fleeing is futile, as the head of the guild will not stop until he subdues Elliot and eliminates Morgan. Story switches perspectives as the game progresses, telling a story from a third-person perspective. (Or, I try to do it that way). People will join you in your quest to absolve yourself from enemy clutches. But how high is the price for freedom? MAIN CHARACTERS: Morgan/Captain (Charges TP twice as fast) A strong-willed swordsman. He was the Captain of a squadron charged with the kidnapping of a Duke's daughter, until he had a change of heart. Now he runs from his former guild and home and willingly bears his cross. Sadly, people refuse to leave him be. Elliot Goulding/ Bard (Nigh-perfect aim) An eccentric, loyal assassin with a charming voice. After a dispute with his Captain, he chose to follow him. Good-natured, but sometimes talks of what people see as nonsense. Gallahad/The General Referred to in the guild as 'The General', his prowess is rivaled by Captain Morgan. Known for being a sadist. Constantly leers at Elliot, if you manage to see past the shadow of his helmet. MAPS: Linear, story-based paths, with few deviations. You'll find treasures and hidden stages to bonus items and paths. (That's the plan, anyway.) ITEMS AND SPRITES: Picking up sprites that come close, for now. I don't think I can make much on my own. I'll give credit where it is due. As for items, they'll be kept in light-hearted notes. Expect anti-climactic descriptions, maybe funny depending on who reads and who gets it. COMBAT SYSTEM: As of Alpha Chapter 1: Basic turn-based, XP-Style HUD. Turn-based. Still resolving ATB. I managed to mix an XP-Style battle system with the basic ATB, and I've been trying to configure it to not lag. No success as of Alpha Chapter 1. Also, I've been trying to set a party exp system, where all characters are the same level no matter who leaves and enters. If you guys could help me find a script that does this, I'd be most happy! You can learn a good number of skills, but only equip a certain number of them. That's to avoid overpowering characters. Some spells are available for the shop, and only certain characters can learn them. As of Alpha Chapter 1, no characters are available for learning them yet. They're not introduced in Chapter 1, my apologies. Different classes use different weapons, and their skills depend on different stats. Similar to DISGAEA's weapons, but without equipping anything to anyone. ALPHA-TESTING: Any ideas and opinions would be great. I've uploaded a mega-mega alpha on mediafire for those interested in alpha-testing it. The file is pretty big (Around 128.23MB) because I plan on making the whole game, instead of tearing it apart chapter by chapter. There's so much with this, and I was just so happy to push aside Chapter 1 of the story. It was a lot longer in my notebook. Also, the description and rules of this forum aren't really against story concepts, so yeah. But if it needs to be moved, help me move it. DILEMMA: Need help with my game concept, in general. Genre: Fantasy Drama PLOT: As [snow], you are the star football player in your high school. You rush to school and you accidentally bash into a dork who you apologize to and bring to the nurse's office after seeing him bleed when he hit his head on a sharp rock. He forgives you after numerous apologies in the office and you leave for class. When you see him again, he is bullied into a locker. And from then on you see your mates picking on him again and again and you'll notice the frequency and how they get more violent over the days. You ask your saner friends what's going on with them, and they share your unease. Then one night you pass by the kid again in an alley, being bullied into a bloody pulp. You step in against their better judgement, but then something happens and a scary black thing scares everyone away and leaves you paralyzing in fear. Just when it looks at you, it vanishes. You freaked out so much you fainted. You wake up in a hospital and from there start getting to know the dork [Noel]. You meet his family, who pays for your hospital bills as a thank-you, and from there you get to know him. But his family starts giving you hints of something about Noel and as you investigate further, you realize Noel is god. And he made everything, including you. Chris, his godfather and keeper, finds out you learned the truth and explains that the bullies come after him as a way of his berating himself. God or not, he's a teenage boy with problems, and he also contradicts himself as a means to be logical. of course, that had its ups and downs, and he confronts you with a problem: if you let him realize who he is and what he can truly do, you'd risk erasing everything from existence. If not, you'll of course have the guilt of living a lie. As you progress to the story, it'll climax at the school's Halloween Fair, where you rescue him from bullies one last time and he admits to himself that something's wrong. There, you are given the choice to try to let him know what he is or not. MAIN CHARACTERS Snow "Bodie" White The main character you control. Football star, lives with a single mom and a sister. Best friends with a fujoshi and a friendly asshole. Noel Ellis Rosche The wimp who manages to escape most bullying tactics, but somehow gets chased after with more vicious methods. Can apparently control reality to a large extent unconsciously. Doesn't use therapy much, just therapy books, social interpretation, and various media to help him cope with real people. Chris Valentine Noel'd godfather, who is casual and fun. He seems to know more about Noel than the kid himself does. MAPS It'll be sandbox style, so no real map jumping. School, homes, small regions, all for exploring. The story might get linear, so I'm still trying to think of a way to make it diverse. ITEMS and SPRITES Game-related with funny descriptions. Might poke fun to a few popular things like Youtubers and name puns of celebrities. I'd love some Mack School Sprites but they're hard to come by, and after some experimentation, I learned I suck at pixel art. I might post my character designs here but I need to find some time for it without anyone in my family noticing. They disapprove of me drawing. -___-" EDIT: How many of you think shoving in gags based on popular people is a bad idea? In hindsight, I think it might. GAME DESCRIPTION I won't be using the combat system. It's all just conversations and busts, which will be time-consuming to make. I think facesets may be enough but busts seem to add more depth. A Reality Warrior, known as Gabe Kuo embarks on a quest to find a threat tearing it's way through the fabrics of dreams and reality after this very thing. However upon him leaving his own plane, he's soon to encounter unfamiliar forces good and evil that are with or against the idea of the evil force. He ultimately ended up living there and trained under various people and Reimu herself. He became her 'partner' and the two of them live at the Hakurei shrine and solve incidents. there is currently no romantic relationship between them. Jagger: The Karate Master Voice: Pending Race:anthropomorphic Info: Jagger Dario James is a famous adventurer, known for his many crazy exploits in far and exotic lands. He's a thrill seeker, and dedicates his life to exploring the world and seeing everything it has to offer. Jagger's adventures normally have him exploring foreign lands, investigating rumours or mysteries, chasing criminals or hunting for treasure. More often than not, though, he buts heads with a lot of trouble makers and some pretty 'bad guys' throughout his adventures. Unfortunately for them, Jagger's a living tank of a fighter, with herculean strength and amazing fighting skills and he's usually able to dispatch whatever baddies happen to fall into his path. Jagger is a chill and laid-back guy, and a bit of a drifter, never staying in one place for too long. He loves to travel and explore new places, and takes pleasure in seeking adventure and making the most of his life. He can be a bit hard-headed and stubborn at times, and sometimes he may seem like a harsh guy, but only because he isn't one to sugar-coat his words or feelings, and plays by his own rules rather than the standards of everyone else. He's a nice guy at heart, but he can be mean when he wants to be. He is loyal to his friends and allies though, and is one who always keeps his word no matter what. Etna: (Game - Disgaia) Voice:Nitrogoblin Race: Succubus Info: Etna is the leader of an all-purpose Prinny squad she hired, and one of the few vassals who remain in the Overlord's Castle after King Krichevskoy's death. In the beginning, she attempts to wake up Laharl through "unique" methods (from drills and flails to gatling guns, swords, and jackhammers). From then on, Etna becomes Laharl's closest, though not necessarily most trustworthy, vassal, aiding him in his rise to power. She is the only vassal from Laharl's original servants who goes out on the battlefield for him. Etna acts carefree, but is also very devious. Often it is hard to tell for whom she really is working.   24. UPDATE: Currently not taking any more requests. I have 3 games to catch up on, but current lifetime events take precedence, and the 'coming soon' release of Inwards demo. I'll be taking more once I chip away 1-2 of the games on the short list. ------------------------------------- So, now I'm doing Reviews and Tutorials on my new YouTube account, and should I managed to fix the lag/delay issue with Twitch, I will occasionally livestream as well. This time I've started with Legionwood: A Tale of Two Swords (I didn't even realize this was the example in the Rules/Guidelines when I began the video... ) by Dark Gaia to whet the appetite, and I've also played/recorded Project X by Tahara. IMO, my Project X video has funnier moments in it, but I won't release it until I've got the author's go-ahead since it is still alpha. I will also take requests, but we'll get to that (scroll down). A review is different from a Let's Play--when reviewing, I will focus mainly on critiquing and acknowledging the game's mechanics and story. Also, level design, character design, originality and/or creativity, technical skill (both with RPG Maker and basic skills like spelling/grammar). When doing a Let's Play, it's pretty much for fun and enjoyment, though I will point out things I do an do not enjoy.
