  5. Helloooo world ! So we've recently released the demo of our game "Konran:Zanki GATE01", a sci-fi, survival visual novel made on RPG maker ace. It doesn't seem like we've raised much attention (we're modest people we seemingly no really "marketing" knowledge), we're somewhat struggling to revive the existence of our game. So here is the trailer for you to watch ! Enjoy ! 7. Hey everyone, I’m a moderator for a Let’s Player, named Hard_Reset, who is doing something new! He not only plays through your game from start to finish, but he also does it live so you can watch, along with others. This provides on opportunity for you to explain mechanics or see exactly where bugs or glitches occur. You can have the stream up while watching and get live feedback on your project. Another benefit is that the community is growing and other viewers can provide suggestions so it’s like a Quality Assurance meeting! He works with you to set up times that are convenient for you to be able to watch the live stream and then puts out announcements so the community knows when a stream will happen as well. After a few days, the stream is then uploaded to Youtube so you can have an archive to help with fixes, it’s also just another avenue for you game to get exposure. If this is something that interests you, the best way to get your game on the list to be streamed would to join the Hard_Reset Discord: https://discord.gg/qyBjxEg Just message Hard Reset when you have a project ready to be streamed. Whether it’s a demo or a full commercial release, he will play it until it’s over. Games are streamed on a first come, first serve basis to keep things fair. Hope to see you in stream and in the discord! Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-v0EG8D7Xj00BgHOOrEaIA Twitch Channel: https://www.twitch.tv/hard_reset Email: crisys1023@gmail.com

Drowning in over used art? if you answered yes to any and all questions then I Inazuma the lightning may have something for you! 11. Has anyone ever made a portion of their game where a character can play a game, whether for fun and/or for financial gain? Like, having an arcade where one can have the main character play the hardcore Arcade Tetris, or a racing game, or what have you, or to go into a casino to play Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and so on? If so, did you use scripts, common events, combinations of both, or something different altogether? Me personally, I've had a hard time trying to event slot machines (though when I made a game in RM for the PSX this was no problem at all), but it would be cool to have, especially with animated graphics for the arm and the moving reels...

    Entry 003: Motivation: The Fail

This won't be a long, drawn out entry. It seems that my IP address is no longer banned on RMW or RMN (but from what I was able to gather it never was on RMW). I did create a new account on RMW some time back, though I had to use a proxy to get in. Well, it has been since May 10, and I can't even make a fucking introductory post (oh yes, familiar and brutally UNFAIR TERRITORY HERE). So, I'm asking for someone from here to go speak with a fair admin over on RMW, please, for heaven's sake. Of course, I don't know of anyone here that has an account on RMW, well, except one unless she moved from there to here, that being Amysaurus. But seriously, please, help me. I'd try to contact one of the admins myself, but I do not like the idea of pleading an IP Hack case to people that are potentially partial. I only ask, because I'd do the same for anyone else. Thank you in advance. Oh, my account name? We'll discuss it not in public if you decide to assist me. One more thing. It may help if the person who does assist me is both an admin here and on RMW.
  13. OK so I am still unable to fix a glitch I keep getting. Instead of screenshots I'll just link you a zip that has the map and glitch in question. As I was taking screenshots it hit me that the events are to long, and to really get the problem you had to see it as well as the full events. However as I don't want a random viewer to steal my game I just took the single map, scripts, and basically copied them into a new project file. A lot safer and it makes it easier for you guys to test it out. So the glitch---if you pick up a item the killer NPC will either A, automatically see you even if he's 2 walls away from you. Or B and more commonly, he walks downward into the wall and completely stops moving. I CAN NOT FIX THIS NO MATTER WHAT I DO! If you just follow behind him it works just find, but there's enough room to go around him and catch him off guard. So can someone download the game and tell me what's the deal with this? You can see the script I'm using for pathfinding in the file, but here it is anyways (it's not the problem tho as this glitch was present way before I found the script). I don't want a new pathfinding script as it'll just result in the same exact glitch I'm betting, plus this was the only script I could ever get to work. I know it's not the problem, but just because "somebody" will ask for it rather than look in the zip...yeah this glitch has me very annoyed. XD I know it's not the script because before it I used events only for the pathfinding and the problem was exactly the same. http://www.mediafire.com/file/xu4z61v6u748kvt/Glitch_Testing.zip

    One Piece - Memory Island

Name: One Piece - Memory Island Creators: Henry and Luiz Engine: RMMV Genre: Adventure Start Date: 10/01/2017 JOIN US IN OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChZfwyVhFIvzppzblhWnrtw "FROM FANS. TO FANS." One Piece: Memory Island started as a small project between two brothers. At first, it was just a concept. We knew we wanted to make a game about our favorite Anime, but we weren't quite sure about where to start. We were just discussing the idea and doing minor things. Then, suddenly, the first Straw Hat battler was ready and perfect. That gave us a giant hype, so we started to actually MAKE the game. Soon after that, we had animations for skills and a few enemies. Later, we had developed a fun combat system, where one would actually have to strategize to achieve victory. And so on... As time went by, our hype for the game had grown ever further, as more and more was made and the game was finally taking shape. Now, couple of months later, we have our first playable demo! We still have a long road ahead, but we are excited to be doing this and hope will be able to finish it! We own them everythin. One Piece - Memory Island wouldn't exist without them. Yanfly Engine Plugins - For everything, basically! SumRndmDde - For making our game FUN! ShokugekiNoZeff - For the One Piece Resources! MogHunter - For his amazing plugins! ....and many others! Q: Are there any SPOILERS for people who have not yet finished seeing ONE PIECE? A: Well, kinda. The events in this game take place after the Thriller Bark Ark, so if you haven't yet watched it, there will be spoilers in the character's skills. Q: When will it be finished? A: We don't know. We make as much progress a day as we can, but we can't put a "Release Date" yet. Q: Where are all the credits? A: There will be a huge cutscene when you finish the final version of the game, thanking everyone for their support and assets. Q: Which languages will be available? A: Only english. Q: Who is your favorite character from One Piece? A: For Luiz, the answer is Usopp. For Henry, it's either Luffy or Usopp.

    I'm New.

Hey guys , I'm new , I guess I'll settle here, I've been very frustrated registering in the (https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php) forums. I've tried so many times to register my different emails but I dont get any email verifications in my inbox, this has been going on for days now. Oh well anyways , Hello to all, I'm a Concept Artist by trade and been wanting to create my own games since I started working in the game industry and RPG maker might be a good small step to it , I also like writing down stories and I've taken screenwriting classes to that might help me out making compelling stories. um, the end? XD
  16. Greetings everyone ! I am currently facing a hard decision . I have too storyline I really appreaciate and I would like to make a game out of both of them however , I really cannot which one to start with . This way , I would like you to tell me which one would you prefer : The first one , it involves several characters (around 15) , this will be a visual novel , survival , sci-fi , mystery , point and click game . In this game , people will die and you will have to discover who is the murderer behind each crime in order to execute them to gain something and discover what has mysteriously happened to them . The storyline will have twists and be rather psychological . There will be a point and click interface , you will be able to interact which characters and get to know their backstory . The second , has fewer characters (around 4) , this will be a 2D cute , fantasist , mystery and magic game . In this game , you will have to discover a mystery involving around the main character when she finds out that her crush mysteriously disappears and that people around seem to freeze without even noticing it . There will be many mini games but it will be mainly about sinking for specific items to go through the storyline which will lead to several endings . There are two pictures : the two first pictures shows most of the characters ( I haven't drawn all of them yet) from the first (survival) game idea and the second picture shows an exemple of point and click interface . There two last pictures show two maps from the second (cute) game .
  17. So, I have 2 events that seem to not work with each other. The first is a character that simply walks around (I've spent days getting his walk path right without any problems), if he sees you its game over. The other event is a item you can pick up, just a simple "character talks and game gives them a item" event. However, whenever I test and I get said item, the killer event (the event that's walking about) no longer works. I moved the item event closer to the killer event's path so I could see what he does as I pick up the item. When I do pick up the item, the killer event walks right pass the turn he's suppose to take and instead walks a few more steps and then turn, getting stuck on the walls. And no, it is not his pathfinding event, if I never even tough this one item then he walks about the map "perfectly" with no issues at all. Its only as I pick up this item that he seemingly is unable to turn "until the item's event is over", but I don't see what is the cause. Autorun doesn't stop the killer event he just keeps moving (which makes item collecting in this map harder), so that's not it. Both the item and his pathfinding events are parallel progress, and I tested this by picking up another item that is in the exact turn he's suppose to take---once he took the turn just fine, but just now he walked by the turn, the item event ends, he spots me, and runs all the way back. XD What a glitch! So, it is all of the item events..how do I fix this to where I can pick up the items and the killer event doesn't glitch out? I would upload the unfinished demo but Jesus Christ it is taking forever to even attach...
  18. Hello everyone! Some of you may know me, some of you may not. I'll tell you a little bit about me to help you understand why I'm thinking about doing this. I've been using RPG Maker for 10 years as of this post, and have enjoyed helping others tell great stories through their games in my time using it. Part of what I really like about RPG Maker is how friendly it is for beginners and for people with no programming knowledge (such as I was upon first discovering it!), and I firmly believe that we don't have to sacrifice that in order to achieve a much more powerful software. I remember the first time I learned about what "scripts" are. I was amazed! They opened up the doors for things I didn't think possible with the program. I immediately knew that creating scripts was something I definitely wanted to learn more about. So I did. Learning to program in RPG Maker helped me understand how it really works under the hood, and how unnecessarily limited it is. At first, I enjoyed the challenge of making new solutions to work around the program's limitations. I saw lots of impressive projects suffer because of the program's limitations, and decided to do something about it. That's how Effectus was born. Many problems in RPG Maker are related to the program's performance, but there are many that aren't. Having used every iteration of the program since RPG Maker XP, I found lots of things I'd like to improve about the workflow of the editor, and the architecture of both the editor (the program itself) and the player (what runs the games made with it). I had really high hopes for MV. I thought they were finally going to adress most of what the community has been voicing for more than a decade. They didn't. MV might be an improvement upon Ace, but it is definitely not what I wanted. It's not what I expected after a decade and after three iterations of basically the same program with different names. Last year, I talked with my good friends Solistra and Enelvon about the limitations of the program and what we could do about it. At first, we focused on the limitations of RGSS (every version) and the "player", and thus, we decided to make a new one to play games made with RPG Maker. We did, and by doing that, I noticed how much I had to artificially limit many things in order to honor RPG Maker's architecture. The player, although almost complete (...missing wave effects for Sprites and some minor release details, basically) was never released. I didn't want to do the same thing I fault RPG Maker for: artificially limit things. By the end of the year, I told them that maybe we should just go ahead and create a new program altogether. Although they liked the idea, we didn't really move forward with it. They were very busy (still are!) and we didn't have time to talk about it properly. But the seeds of creation were already planted in me. I didn't really stop thinking about it, and the idea has grown since then. Fast forward a couple of months: I'm writing this to request the opinions of the community, because I really love the idea of making a new program instead of fighting against the limitations of RPG Maker.

  20. Hey guys. I'm your perfect example of a dumb person getting in over his head trying to impress his future son. I thought it be super cool if my boy can brag at school how his dad made a video game... (Smh). Anyway, hope is not yet lost because you friendly people are here. Now if you're feeling charitable and would like to help this poor, old dad.... then.... "Everything is Awesome... everything is cool when you...." sorry Lego the movie got stuck in my head. Right what is my problem, basically everything. I have no clue what I'm doing but lets start with one thing first. How can I make a movie with RPG maker. I want my character to have this super, horrible, solemn nightmare but I don't know how make it. Could someone please help me. please.... Thank you so much. You are Awesome.... P.S and so is this forum by the way, to the guys and gals who made this forum.... you are awesome. thank you for making a place like this, where people like me can come to ask some help.

I will be lessening my works.

I will be lessening my time making plugins for three valid reasons: Everything is already made. I mean, if there are systems I can think of, it'd probably be something existing. But if there's a new concept I think I should make, it may come in soon. It's just my 10 hour research period is down to 3 hours. I will be focusing on finishing my plugin scripting tutorials to help the hopefuls. Throughout, I give this 3 hours as well. I will be concentrating on learning Chinese Martial Arts, I would also be reading a few sutras that has something to do with Buddhism. So if you're wondering why I don't post plugins here anymore, I am probably somewhere practicing and reading. My time is limited in Game Development, sadly. Since I pay people making custom resources for me for the game, I need to work as well. My money is limited, so I need to put some extra effort.
  22. You know one big problem I tend to have is that I have absolutely no interest in like 99.99% of all of the RPG Maker game projects I see, even ones made by people I think of as my friends. Really I think one problem is I no longer have as much interest in RPGs in general and JRPG-style games in particular, and most of the other genres of games commonly made by RPG Maker uses (such as horror games, more pure narrative games) don't really hold that much interest in me either. It just kinda seems like most game projects I see seem to kinda end up seeming the same to me. Ultimately, I think I am just getting old. I am sure 10 or so years ago things might have been different. Maybe even five years ago. I think I have gotten more and more picky and lazy about games since then. Ever since around the end of the PS2 era at least, when I basically decided I didn't really have that much interest in any newer consoles. For a while I switched mostly to handheld games like the DS and PSP, but eventually I sorta almost fell out of gaming altogether, only partly getting back into it with Steam a few years ago. It's not really that I "grew out" of gaming either. Gaming is still a major part of my life. Almost 90% of how I entertain myself online is gaming related somehow, usually in the form of let's plays, or game reviews/discussion, or something related to gaming culture. I just don't really play very many anymore. It's just a lot easier to watch and discuss then to play. Part of that is no doubt because games in general have become much more focused on story and "cinematic" elements to the point where it's almost pointless to play them anymore. I still haven't actually played Undertale for example, though I own it, partly because I was waiting for a Linux version (which is moot at this point since my laptop with Linux is being replaced by a new one with Windows 10 installed anyway), but mostly because I just don't think playing it myself will really add that much to the experience. It really won't. I never was the type to believe that experiencing something myself made it any different. Everything for me just seems like random sense data anyway. It's not that I can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy or anything like that, at least intellectually. But emotionally it seems more and more that everything is almost equally out of touch and remote. I guess it's kind of like depression only I am not sure if it actually is. Maybe this is normal for fairies actually. This doesn't mean I don't enjoy games, I just think it means I enjoy different types of games. I am more interesting in mechanics I can play around with, things with a huge possibility space, like a lot of roguelikes, or Minecraft or Dwarf Fortress, or any game where you explore and tinker and do things. RPGs can be like that too for sure. I guess that is one reason (along with others) I hate Final Fantasy IV with a passion (though the DS version was way better) but really liked Final Fantasy V (and thought VI was merely pretty good, and VII was probably the one I thought was the best in the series, but over all liked the SaGa series more). That doesn't mean I hate stories either. Stories to me after all are more or less just the result of an author playing a game in his own mind. Kinda like D&D really. You have the rules you set for how the world you are making works and work out the implications. You have a personality and traits for a character and work out what they would be like and what they would do. It's really a fascinating process, a way for the author to create their own worlds. Games and stories I think are in the end almost two sides of the same coin, two ways people try to do the same thing. But when I am playing a game I want to basically create a story, not be told one. And let's face it, even a beaching storyline like Undertale with many clever paths and things it keeps track of is still you being told a story. All the paths are there from, the start and you just choose one. It's The Stanley Parable problem really. I won't deny that as a artform story and gameplay can reinforce each other's point in some cases. I would never deny Undertale should have been a movie or a TV show or anything like that. I am just saying watching someone else play is just as impactful as playing it yourself, if for different reasons maybe. I will say that both Undertale and The Stanley Parable basically require a player, but whether you are playing and reacting to events or whether you see how someone else reacts to it I think doesn't matter as much. Blah, okay maybe all that is sort of besides the point. I am sure I have said that all before I think. The point is, I find it hard to take interest in most games that are narrative focused. But honestly? The fact they are narrative focused is only part of the problem. Maybe even not the main part, though it might be the easiest part to pinpoint and try to justify. Another big part is just that a lot of games are tedious. They are annoying. JRPGs in particular. It's hard to get into menu based combat sometimes, though at the same time I often want to defend it, because honestly realtime action-rpg combat is worse, especially in RPG Maker. My favorite style of RPG combat personally is roguelike-style single step turn-based on-map combat, and has been basically since one of my first RPGs, Ultima VI. It's fast, gives you a ton of tactical depth, allows a unified way to explore and fight things without switching between screens, and still gives you plenty of time to plan everything out. Alas, that style of combat has basically completely vanished outside of rougelikes. Anyway, yeah. That's another big reason. I know it sounds kinda like the kind of dismissive of JRPGs and people do enough of that but that's just how I feel sometimes. Another big part, and this is hugely subjective, is setting and style. I just don't care that much for most typical medieval European fantasy, or Tolkien-style "high fantasy", or typical sci-fi settings, or mystical eastern settings, or modern day settings, or post-apocalyptic settings, or Judeo-Christian mythology based settings, or basically any kind of setting that hasn't been done a million times before, and let's face it most of them have. It's not that you can't do creative stuff with these settings, but I am just not interested. Really the only exception is if you really really do your research and make something that has so many references that it seems to weave seamlessly into an existing mythology/setting already, and even then I am not sure. I guess there are other reasons, but that's all that comes to mind at the moment. Though I have to say there is one common exception that always seems to perks my interest. One kind of RPG Maker project I still play sometimes. Naughty X-rated RPG Maker games. The more depraved and fetish filled the better. I know, I know, I am a total pervert, and truth be told most of them are quite bad or forgettable, but they can usually be relied on for some brief, ahem, "entertainment" at least. What can I say? Sometimes I have a one track mind. Tee-hee!

    Arin's Let's Play/Try Thread

List of Current games: After playing around with Camtasia Studio for a bit, I realized that I should actually be doing something worth it. So I came to the conclusion of trying my hand at the infamous Let's Play/Try scene. I'll admit I have never had to do this before, so I'll probably be nervous as hell. But it's pretty nice to review games in the format of video, and I've always been drawn to it, and now it's my chance to make it shine. With that being said, though, if you want some feedback for your game, I'm not going to say no. Just be sure to: --Leave a post here with a link to your game. --Specify what kind of platform it is (RPG Maker XP, VX, and Ace games only (EDIT: I'm willing to make an exception for IGMC since I refreshed myself that IGMC is any platform, but this will be the only time)) so I can get the appropriate RTPs. --NO ABSs GAMES. ABSs in RPG Maker are horribly optimized, which makes recording a pain. It's already enough of a struggle to play the game at 2 FPS with your stupid ABS, don't make me record it as well. --NO HORROR GAMES. It's not anything against you, or anything against the engine that it's used in, but horror games in general are terrible by my standards, mostly because of many things. Most people don't really have the same "experiences" that they have in real life when they go to make a horror game, so they can't really establish a connection between with what's "scary" or, what's supposed to flow correctly in this scenario or how it's supposed to play out. Which usually ends up with either lots of needlessly graphic gore and violence, or something that just isn't concrete. Again, it's nothing personal, but when I look at all of the RPG Maker horror games, 99% of the time, they aren't concrete enough for my tastes, or I'm left confused at what is going on. Or there's excessive amounts of violence in it. Which is a no-no. --NO BACKSEAT GAMING! A.K.A. DON'T TELL ME HOW TO PLAY YOUR fricking GAME. LET ME FIGURE IT OUT FOR MYSELF. THAT PISSES ME OFF. --Please tell me before hand if your game is a demo or a complete game. Demos of games are considered Let's Tries (unless they're mere moments away from actual release), and complete games will get a Let's Play. (There is a difference between the two.) --Just to be warned, I can get pretty intense with my critique, and if your game looks like there was no care put into it, I won't care in return. If you can't handle criticism/ranting very well, look somewhere else. --THIS IS GOING TO BE DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE ON THE MAIN SITE. Only games featured here will be Let's Played exclusively to this site. If you want it to be featured on the main site, you can visit this thread to suggest your game. Just to make sure that I'm not swamped with games that I can't complete, I'll only allow 5 games to be LP'd at any one time. This makes it easier on me because it's organized and that I don't forget whose game belongs to who. The list will go at the top of the thread. Lastly, leave a thank you. You have no idea how much a simple thank you makes me feel enthused. COMPLETED VIDEOS:
