  3. Hey everyone, I’m a moderator for a Let’s Player, named Hard_Reset, who is doing something new! He not only plays through your game from start to finish, but he also does it live so you can watch, along with others. This provides on opportunity for you to explain mechanics or see exactly where bugs or glitches occur. You can have the stream up while watching and get live feedback on your project. Another benefit is that the community is growing and other viewers can provide suggestions so it’s like a Quality Assurance meeting! He works with you to set up times that are convenient for you to be able to watch the live stream and then puts out announcements so the community knows when a stream will happen as well. After a few days, the stream is then uploaded to Youtube so you can have an archive to help with fixes, it’s also just another avenue for you game to get exposure. If this is something that interests you, the best way to get your game on the list to be streamed would to join the Hard_Reset Discord: https://discord.gg/qyBjxEg Just message Hard Reset when you have a project ready to be streamed. Whether it’s a demo or a full commercial release, he will play it until it’s over. Games are streamed on a first come, first serve basis to keep things fair. Hope to see you in stream and in the discord! Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-v0EG8D7Xj00BgHOOrEaIA Twitch Channel: https://www.twitch.tv/hard_reset Email: crisys1023@gmail.com
  4. Curious how difficult something like this would be. Where you have moves activate based on distance as well as percentages for hit success. Is RPG Maker really capable of something like this with coding? Maybe with a more dynamic camera so there isn't a split screen?
  5. So, forjerum is online support for rpg maker vx ace. I can't really understand how to use it. I have some knowledge on scripting but I really don't know what to do with it as the instructions are very vague. Has anyone used this? Could you tell me what to do? https://www.rpgmakercentral.com/topic/39466-forjerum-create-your-mmo-with-rpg-maker-vx-ace/

  7. One thing that I haven't been very shy about admitting is even at my most active I have never been that serious about game development here. I like to code neat scripts sometimes yes, and I do like to experiment, and I love to discuss and theorize, but sitting down and actually trying to make a real game by myself always struck me as kind of too much work for me. Mostly probobly just cause I am lazy, but even so when it comes right down to it I am not sure I ever had a really good solid idea for one. Oh don't get me wrong, I have plenty of ideas that I think are neat, but most of them are either random mishmashes of ideas that don't fit together in any real way or are just too overly ambitious to really get anywhere on. Every once and a while I have this 'big project' I want to work on but don;t end up really doing much with. The one time I tried to team up with some other people didn't turn out that well and I am not sure I am cut out for teamwork. That being said, I still have been ever so slowly chipping away at my own little block of stone. For all the years I have been on this site I have maintained a RPG Maker VX Ace project that I occasionally fiddle with, adding more and more experiments and random ideas to. It's more of my own personal script testing bed then anything else. I know I probobly should have moved on to MV ages ago but... there is just so much I have done with VX Ace! And bit by bit I think it's starting to pay off. It's still a mess of experiments without much underlying theme or idea behind it, but I am slowly seeing more and more a shape emerge that I might be able to refine. One might remember my old dungeon demo thing. I have added a ton to the scripts there since I bothered to update it, and it seems like I added another ton jut with in the lat few months. I just more or less managed to finally get a roguelike-style battle system (or as I like to call it a 'one-step tactical battle system', since it's basically like a tactical RPG battle system only things can only move one step per turn, or one could think of it as a 'turn-based ABS' perhaps if that idea doesn't make your head explode) working properly. Now I have wanted to do a proper roguelike for a while, and I basically have all the major parts needed to make one from the random dungeons to even the item identification thing. I have a number of interesting tweaks to the generator to produce what may be some of the most pretty dungeons I have seen from similar style dungeon generators, and a number of dungeon types already done. I have a fair variety of different critters too that move and behave in different ways. Imps that can fly over gaps, Sea creatures that can swim, Bats that can fly and move quickly but erratically, Spiders which are slow but can suddenly jump at their target, Ghosts which phase through walls, and so on. But if that were all I would still probobly end up with a bit of a disconnected mess of ideas. As much as I think gameplay is more important then story or presentation in games, I can't really deny the importance of theming at the very least. Just blindly programing in whatever idea I can think of without some overall hook to the design to tie it all together probobly will just leave me with what I have been doing for the last few years: Just throwing stuff into a pile and poking it to see what it does. Ah, but fortunately I do have the perfect thing to tie it all together I think, and I didn't even really have to go far to find it! Just look at all the stuff I have been telling people about fairies over the time I have been here. A lot of the details could fit right in with a roguelike actually. Even my older abandoned team game had a big focus on that kind of thing. I even have a name picked out! How about "Dwimmerdelve: Adventures in a Phantasmagorical Fairyland"? What do you think?

  14. rmmv Embers' Pyre

Embers' Pyre Follow the journey of a rather unconventional hero and make choices along the road to influence Cendril's development and ending! Genre: Fantasy RPG Game Progression: ~ 25% Estimated playtime: ~ 4h Download current version here! Cendril wields the power of conjuring flames - a very useful power to have in a realm that is plagued by the threat of monsters. As an aspiring knight, Cendril joins the ranks of the Military and participates in the mandatory training camp, where the recruits are given tasks to complete in order to prove their worth. Completing these tasks would be a breeze for the young Mage - were it not for the fact that the knowledge of magic is strictly forbidden in the Kingdom of Rolantis. Rather, the fresh recruit is forced to blend in among the others, which proves to be quite difficult, as, apart from fire magic, Cendril possesses no martial prowess whatsoever. Still, that is a hurdle that Cendril is willing to overcome - not least because the Mage's reasons for joining the Military differ from that of the many recruits in the camp... But as the training progresses, Cendril is quickly entangled in happenings that are far more dangerous than those of an ordinary training camp... And the young Mage embraces that turn of events. After all, what better way to make a great impression than to overcome these dangers? Characters: Features: Screenshots: Credits:
  15. Greetings: Hello, everyone! The name is Brandon Lee, and before I waste your time telling you all cliches and platitudes about how I love video games and stuff, I just want to announce that My name is Brandon Lee, and I love video games. Alright, no more jokes (for now). Right now, like right now, I just founded Vulgaris Studios, my own independent video game studio. I will take the time to discuss what I need, what project I am working on, and the direction of the project as a whole. So, let's get started! Who am I? As I stated before, the name is Brandon Lee. From a very young age, I started playing a lot of classic RPGs my older cousin introduced me to. These games included: Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV-VIII, and The Early Tales Series Games (Destiny, Phantasia, Rebirth). When I beat Chrono Trigger many years ago, I was impressed by how prolific the game was. I loved the story, the music, just everything about it. From there, I started daydreaming about creating my own game. After a quick google search (create rpgs for free), I soon became acquainted with the RPG Maker series, and long story short, I became a programmer. Life soon became reality for me, and following hobbies sure wasn't paying the bills. So, I got a boring job and now I own my own company. What made me consider creating my own game for real was when I read the transcript of an interview by Takashi Tokita, the game director of Chrono Trigger, one of my favorite games of all time! He blatantly stated that when Chrono Trigger was first planned, Square wasn't making a whole lot of money. Their releases were modest and sales weren't too high, yet he says that he urged the higher-ups to continue with the project, and you know the rest after that. The game blew up. I figured in I put in the hard work and believed in my project that it would succeed too. Well, that's that. I'm a old-school retro gamer who happens to be a businessman. Now, let me explain the project. Project Final Arcane: The name I chose for this project is Final Arcane. Final Arcane is a 2D Anime RPG with distinguished elements from the classic RPGs from my childhood, and blended with story elements from my favorite anime. Yes, if you haven't figured out already, I love watching anime. In any case, this project will be entirely developed on the RPG Maker MV engine. Allow me to discuss the plot: In the beginning, the Three Goddesses of Light created the world of Arcania. They sought to create a world in which their creation could thrive or fall entirely by its own merit. Accordingly, the Goddesses created the Humans and the Spirits. The Spirits were blessed with the Goddesses' natural aura. Thus, they had the ability to use magic. Humans, on the other hand, were adept in other areas such as intelligence, dexterity, and physical talents. Initially, both were able to live in peace. In turn, the Spirits soon taught the Humans how to use magic. This act of kindness soon evolved into a volatile conflict. As humans developed magic, they became increasingly violent towards each other. Kingdoms rose throughout the land and war erupted throughout. When the Spirits tried to intervene, they were wiped out. With the extinction of the spirits, one kingdom reigned supreme throughout Arcania. This was the Kingdom of Nubes, led by Queen Lexus. Queen Lexus was unmatched in power. Her beauty and might became legendary. She was revered as a Goddess, and in order to cement herself more powerful than the Goddesses, she created an immortal being named Kudgen. Kudgen was everything in one word, invincible. The Goddesses trembled in fear of the thought of facing Queen Lexus' tyrannical reign. Instead, they personally created a hero to stop this being. He was named Damon, the sorcerer. Sorcerer Damon was powerful enough to easily defeat Queen Lexus. But, he struggled mightily upon facing Kudgen. Ultimately, he sealed Kudgen deep beneath the Earth, while sapping its power low so it could not rampage again. The battle left a large scar upon the Earth. Damon personally forgave the Humans and restored everything to them. This time, he made sure magic was forgotten by every human. Meanwhile, Damon created an instituted known as the Five Points Guild, a aggregation of five master guilds whose goal was to protect and govern Arcania's citizens. These guilds were known as Lumen, Aldix, Srequl, Klavista, and Grandine. However, 300 years after its institution, the human's returned to their deviant ways and corrupted the Five Points Guild. Instead of protecting the citizens of Arcania, the Five Points Guild ignore the citizen's needs, fill up their pockets, and laze around for their own personal gain. The Premise: Wow. That was long to write. Anyway, I stated the plot of Final Arcane. Let me explain how it ties into the game: As talented as Sorcerer Damon was, he did have one flaw. He settled down on Earth to govern it, and as such, he had his own descendants. These descendants are collectively known as the Amethyst. Now that magic has been forgotten throughout Arcania, the Amethyst is the world's last magic user. Commander Virgil, the de facto leader of the Five Points Guild, wants to capture the Amethyst at all costs in order to revive Kudgen. With all of the corrupted guilds on his side, the Amethyst herself seeks out the help of the worst guild on the planet, Grandine. Not only is Grandine superbly untalented and fails every one of their missions, the guild is employed of Torus, the main character and an A-class idiot, Drake, an under-achieving intellectual who serves as the team's leader, and Robin, the guild's perverted ninja. As the world's last hope, Kurami teams together with Torus and Grandine as they protect her from the Five Points Guild who has turned on the world, and a certain mystery foe. Influences: What makes this project special is that it combines the visual and the abstract elements of the classic RPGs of yesteryear and the story-making and character development elements of anime. Much like Chrono Trigger and the Tales Series, I want Final Arcane to be a symbolic JRPG. However, I also want to make the game a bit modern and appealing, while not sacrificing its originality. Final Arcane, in short, will be an old-school Anime JRPG, with a modern feel for new-age gamers. I believe that this project will sell, and just like Tokita, I'm not giving up. Now, it's time to announce who I need. We need Everyone! Being a new video game studio, I'm the only one "we" got. To get this game to reach unimaginable heights, I will need a Mapper, 2D Artist, Composer, and a Concept Artist. I really don't have any requirements for our team members. I mean, beggers can't be choosers right? However, I want all applicants to be determined, honest, and reliable. I am willing to add more people to our team to fill in more roles, so if you feel like you can contribute, go ahead and apply. In addition, this is initially a volunteer position. I want to build trust with my team first and get every settled. Though, I did mention that I run a company, so when the whole team is producing the way I want, I will have no problem paying for your services. Notice I italicized the word, paying. While I would be happy to pay my team, I can't pay anyone $70k a year or anything like that. I have to pay bills too and I work a full time job. I am taking money out of my pocket to pay my team and make this project successful. Therefore, please bear with me. Final Word: I'm not going to make any empty promises about how much this game is going to sell. I'm not about to give some empty platitudes either. I wrote this post because I truly want to construct a team so we can do something special together. Otherwise, I wouldn't have wasted my time. I guess the bulk of this post just introduced Final Arcane, but that's only because I want all applicants to be sold on this project and be as excited about it as I am. In any case, if you are interested, please PM me, reply to this thread, or you can email me at vulgarisstudios@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you all!
  16. Bhavacakra

Game website Game download (Mega) Current version 1.0.0 Bhavacakra (Meaning the Wheel of Life) is a fantasy RPG game made in RPG Maker MV. The game is typical in a sense that nothing stands out. It has a main plot, choices, and side quests. The focus of this game is lives, people's lives. And their lives are side quests. This game boosts 100+ side quests in around 30 ~ 40 hours gameplay. There are also three endings with one ending leading to post game world. You play as Juan, a young country man from a village of Loche. There is a rumor that a war is going to break out. As you explore the world, the war does break out, leaving you three choices. You can either fight for your country OR fight against your country. And, finally, you can turn your back on the war. Whichever choice you make, Juan's life changes for good. There are several things I focused while making this game. The game world is consisted of four nations, with each nations containing about 2 major cities and 3 ~ 4 small villages. There is an exception though; there is an off world nation. All in all, I consider the game world to be fairly large.I did mention 100+ quests. They are side quests. Few get complicated and will go into post game. Some are hard. Some are simple fetch quests. But side quests will have stories to tell. This game is about lives. Oh, and defeat the big evil thing. Actually, no, there is no real evil being to defeat in the game. But the wheel of life works in mysterious ways.Monsters do not drop money at all. Why should they? They drop their body parts instead. You either sell them to proper places (trading posts) for bigger profits or use them to cook.Main characters and other important characters have unique CG portrait. The game also contains CG scenes I made. You can pursue your relationship with your heroine all the way into marriage if you so desire. Characters This is Juan, the main character of the game. You will control him and make decisions for him. Depending on your choices, he can become an adventurer or he can fight for his country against a national invasion or even fight against his country. 21 years old at the start of the game. Sue is pretty much the heorine of the game. She becomes Juan's girlfriend shortly into the game and marries Juan if it is his choice later on. Seemingly carefree, she has some darkside to her due to her lonely upbringing. She starts out as a village hunter and later becomes a professional archer. 22 years old at the start of the game. Decon is a scholar from Alcella. He is intelligent but sometimes lacks common sense. He is found captured by Red Turban bandits and rescued later on by either Juan or Maco. After that, he tags along with Juan. Depending on Juan's choices, he may leave the party. 29 years old at the start of the game. Marat is a weapon vendor. Well, she is a weapon seller in Cizna department store. She is under heavy debt when found by Juan. After getting her out of debt, she joins Juan and Co. Depsite of her petite physique, she acts mature and can persuade people a lot better than others. Age unknown.
  17. Heya folks! I was curious about a function I'm currently using in my game, which is recoil. Before I explain, I'll provide some examples. Earth Shatter- While it's a weaker version of Talon Shatter, this attack hits hard and causes a recoil status that drops 15% of your other party member's HP off each time you use it. Useful as it may be, it is an Earth element dragon skill that will still have no effect on air element enemies. In that case, testing elements of your foes could cost you a game over once or twice. (I plan on adding a little skill/spell/special information building so that the player can check up on parts of the techs that aren't stated by their description, and the level they learn said tactic.) Rounds of Flame- A gun skill that Drake uses that hits four random targets nine times. It also has a small chance to burn per hit (Degrades HP over time and decreases attack by 25%). This is one of the few recoils that do not hit the party, but mainly Drake, as it works like a cool down for a while before he can use gun skills again. Poison Aerie- This poisons all enemies, and while poison may be a fun status to pull off to help you in battle, the recoil also poisons most of your party members. (You only have two that are immune to poison and one that can, while healing off another ally's HP, remove poison.) Are recoils worth the trouble? Are they a good idea? I feel as if they are to keep players from spamming the best attacks, so attack also has use as well.
  18. So, before you guys smite me and hang me for how late this is, I gotta ask, "Is there such thing as a time frame?" Wait, who's talking? Who's being asked, what is going on?! Hey folks! Rez here with a continuation of character developing. This time, we'll be talking about dialogue, and using the character's personality within their words. For the sake of this example, I'll be using my gambler, Lek, and a demon named Anicor. I'll list the main aspects of their personality below. Lek's Personality: Optimistic, Level-headed, Out going. Anicor's Personality: Shy, Quirky, Energetic. When a character talks, they need to have a target person/thing they're talking to. You can't leave this open unless there's a continuation of the dialogue between two characters. For example. "Hi, bob," Jack said. "Hello," Bob responded. "How's your day?" "Good." With the example above, the first two lines show who's talking. Leaving either of those open allow for utter confusion to set in. It could be thought that Jack continued without a response, or that somebody outside of his target was responding. Also, something else that wasn't in those lines was emotion. You must convey the character's feelings, whether it is based off of their current mood, feeling of the topic, or even their personality taking over. If you don't, your game, story, or other projects will be really dull, and most will look for a new game to play. Now, there is one exception, and I've seen few pull this off. You can have a monotone-talking person be the center of a joke or some plots, but don't have them be the main focus of your game. Voices in voice acting know this rule all too well, if present, and I'm sure you've heard/read monotone language before. Reading your sentence out loud to yourself is a good way to listen for emotion, and that's where syntax--structure of the sentence and overall flow, basically--takes place. Following this, one last thing I wish to point out here is word choice. Words also help reflect emotion and give a three dimensional aspect to characters. For example: "Hey, man. I just wanted to let you know how stoked I am for the game! I hope you remember how vivid your mom's determination was about you taking me. I'll be there around eight." Vivid is a hard word to use, but if pulled off correctly, it gives a great amount of emotion, in addition to giving a better structure to your sentence/line. Determination is an emotion in its own right. Stoked is another example of emotion that takes the place of the word excited. Adding variety keeps people interested in what they're reading. Now, the moment you folks might have already wanted me to get to... Interactions. "Lek, w-what's a flower?" Anicor hid herself behind Lek as she pointed at the rather strange flower in a pot. "I didn't expect you to shiver at the sight of a fragile being. It's a plant, like grass. For the most part, they're harmless, but there are a few exceptions. Some of Scalvose's flowers, like the Phenostar and the Quiriblit, are quite harmful to some species of life," Lek moved away from Anicor, leaving her in "sight" of the flower. "Go on, touch it. It's a perfectly harmless dandelion." "What if I'm a-allergic?" she slowly stepped forward, flinching as she quickly jabbed her finger into the flower's center. She withdrew it to find her finger covered in a yellow powder, which caused her to well up in fear and start hyperventilating. "Calm down! It's just pollen!" Lek grabbed her, hugging her tightly to a chair for her to sit on. With Lek's help, she slowly regained a calm demeanor. "What is this p-p-powdery stuff?" she sniffed at it, sneezing after a couple seconds passed. "As I said, it's pollen. It's how flowers reproduce," Lek smiled, his eyes shining with enjoyment. With the example above, you can tell how Anicor is by nature, and how Lek responds to her actions and words. Anicor's nervous personality shines throughout the whole segment, and while Lek's mental opinions aren't stated, you can pick up a bit of it from his words and actions. You can also see how he feels about her, to an extent. This pretty much sums up this section of the tutorial. Part three will be focusing on relationships and external/internal factors on life, which will help shape the character into (possibly) somebody you can be yourself. (You'll understand what I mean... Don't worry!)
  19. Of course, there has to be one on the forums. Introduction This is a simple counting game, with tiny little bit of RPG elements. The number represents our experience. Rules Rules are obviously simple Post a number higher by one than in the previous post. We start with level 0 and we will be leveling up for every 100 experience (posts). Random chatting in meanwhile is allowed, though keep the messages relatively short. Do not double post, unless the thread was inactive for 72 hours (three days). If someone double posts too soon, ignore the next messages of that user, as these will be merged. That's all, so let's start! 1

  21. Hey everyone, I was working away on my game last night as usual, no problems. Went to bed after midnight with no problems on the engines end. However, I've woke up this morning and now suddenly the game won't playtest. I've turned all plugins off and copied files into folders in attempt to update the required .js files but it just doesn't seem to work anymore. The consoles makes me think I have to update my rpg_objects.js file, which I did. I copied the file from my NewData folder into my projects JS folder, but it didn't work. I've checked steam for any updates possibily, and nothing was available either. I may be missing something obvious, but since it worked perfectly last night and suddenly broke this morning, I'm rather confused and don't wanna start over.... again. Any ideas? Side note; Ignore the "cash generators" PC name. I bought this PC second hand ages ago and haven't managed to change the directory name so yea >_> Nevermind, I found the issue. It was a database problem, not a javascript problem. Had to redo my entire actor database, but I managed to solve this. Told you it would probably be an obvious error >.< Sorry for the wasted topic. This can be closed now.
  22. Hey all! I have an overworld map that is full of invisible events. The characters can walk through them but the problem arises when you get the airship. You are unable to land on the events, even though i have them set to 'Through'. What I need is a way to be able to land on these events. Any help would be extremely...helpful, Thanks in advance!
  23. Longer Description Help

Hi. I'm using a script Shiggy made that creates an extra description for items. I've been trying to edit it to make it so that description is shown at the start without needing to press a button for it display, as well as updating/refreshing the item descriptions when moving to a different item much like the default. I only managed to get the description window to show at the start of the scene, but it the description doesn't show. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. Here is the link to the script. http://www.rpgmakercentral.com/topic/36877-longer-item-description/?p=257949

Name: One Piece - Memory Island Creators: Henry and Luiz Engine: RMMV Genre: Adventure Start Date: 10/01/2017 JOIN US IN OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChZfwyVhFIvzppzblhWnrtw "FROM FANS. TO FANS." One Piece: Memory Island started as a small project between two brothers. At first, it was just a concept. We knew we wanted to make a game about our favorite Anime, but we weren't quite sure about where to start. We were just discussing the idea and doing minor things. Then, suddenly, the first Straw Hat battler was ready and perfect. That gave us a giant hype, so we started to actually MAKE the game. Soon after that, we had animations for skills and a few enemies. Later, we had developed a fun combat system, where one would actually have to strategize to achieve victory. And so on... As time went by, our hype for the game had grown ever further, as more and more was made and the game was finally taking shape. Now, couple of months later, we have our first playable demo! We still have a long road ahead, but we are excited to be doing this and hope will be able to finish it! We own them everythin. One Piece - Memory Island wouldn't exist without them. Yanfly Engine Plugins - For everything, basically! SumRndmDde - For making our game FUN! ShokugekiNoZeff - For the One Piece Resources! MogHunter - For his amazing plugins! ....and many others! Q: Are there any SPOILERS for people who have not yet finished seeing ONE PIECE? A: Well, kinda. The events in this game take place after the Thriller Bark Ark, so if you haven't yet watched it, there will be spoilers in the character's skills. Q: When will it be finished? A: We don't know. We make as much progress a day as we can, but we can't put a "Release Date" yet. Q: Where are all the credits? A: There will be a huge cutscene when you finish the final version of the game, thanking everyone for their support and assets. Q: Which languages will be available? A: Only english. Q: Who is your favorite character from One Piece? A: For Luiz, the answer is Usopp. For Henry, it's either Luffy or Usopp.
