  1. Greetings dear fantasy people ! I have been a little inquisitive today , I noticed that the manner of producing a storyline differs from people to people . As an exemple , I usually start mine after having created , what I would call , a "captivating cast" ! Most of the time , I cannot start producing a game or a plot without having first created characters that I would have affection for . I would then plunge them into a gripping storyline full of twists to finally create an engrossing title ! (engrossing sounds as a pretty odd adjective .) Now , I was wondering , what is your first step toward the creation of a game , story or whatever else ? Do you first try to find an appealing title ? Do you rather want to create an awesome story first ? Or , just like me , you first want to conceive a "captivating cast" ? (Perhaps do you even have another manner of proceeding ? Like imagining the environment or whatever else .) Feel free to respond ! It seems interesting to witness how each of us proceed to the development of the creativity ?
  2. So I have this game I am working on, Got most the characters back stories. But the storyline I don't know How to start. Anyways here is the characters : Please ignore the bad grammar, spelling etc I have a friend who will work on fixing those for me Characters Storyline
  3. What inspires you guys to plan out the stories for your games, because recently I am having writers block and restarted my projects several times and each time i am having the same problem which is writers block. Do you write out the story/script before starting the game or do you plan it out as your working on it? Also what helps you while working on it? Like listening to music, Get ideas from tv shows, Anime series,, books etc. Any feed back would be appreciated. Heres the synopsis for the game i have so far: An adventurer that goes by the name Chase travels along side his little sister Lily and his childhood friends Aubrey,Harper,Gabriella, and Aj. What may seem like a exciting adventure to these Brand new Adventurers takes a turn for the worst. When they the hears of what's happening back in their home town being attacked. All the while a mysterious figure makes it's entrance and challenges the group of friends, making things worst. How will they handle these obstacles that their life has given them?

    Hubris

Since the game I am currently working on will be considered as my first rpg maker game (VXA ofc xD) I figure I should go with something simple and light. The bare idea for the story is easy - monsters are tired of being hunted and treated like the root of all evil so they rise up against humans. The only complex part of this game (besides CREATING IT) is that the human parts of the world are based on one theme. Hubris. What would you all consider to be real life examples of Hubris? The official definition of Hubris is, "excessive pride or self-confidence; arrogance." But as humans we all generally have an inherent, intuit idea of what Hubris is seperate from the mechanical term. So far some places I've created based on this are; -Glamour, a town full of people obsessed with self-image. -Gildenvale - A town full of merchants whom believe that money makes them more important than anything. -and Pride - A town full of combatants of all types, knights and mages and more whom believe they are all fated to be the single greatest warrior to ever exist and that all are completely pathetic compared to them. Of course not all the characters in all the towns will be megalomaniacs, some will be generally good people. But for the main portion this is what I'm creating the in game world based on. I will send love to anyone who helps!
  5. Hello my friend. Long time no updated for this project ya? but do not think i leave this project. i still work in it. But, i have many Troubel with my Development way. So, i start it again and i found a new way to development my project more organized and fast enought. So, this is the new update for now. Changing the name of the game and project. Why i change the game name? Because, i want make this sequel for this game. if i used the title "The Journey : 1st Gate's - Desire" and the sequel must be "The Journey : 2nd Gate's - ...". and that to fast to go 2nd gate's. So, i improve my story and i think is a good way to make 1st gate's devided by an episodes. SO, i change the name to "The Journey - 1st Gate's : Episodes 1 - Desire". Make my own Galaxy. It's legal to make my own Galaxy. because it far away from Our Galaxy. So, i make it. My own Galaxy called “Actaeon Galaxyâ€. This Galaxy has 9 Planet. Called. Achates, Eurygeneia, Phyxius, Capys, Iamenatio, Pylon, Epopediria, Arion, Rhoeteia. And the "The Journey - 1st Gate's : Episodes 1 - Desire" will be begin in Phyxius Planet. In palnet Phyxius there "?" island. like the earth. But our hero journey will begin in the territory Kingdom Weaver. there are innumerable territory in this planet. and will increase over time. The Old One. Maybe just that for this time.. And this is will be update.. If you want know the progress of this Game Project is now : For Map = 45% For Database Management = 25% For Eventing = 0% Progress All is = 15% I Really need long time to create a map. because, i can't push my self in mapping. Sorry for this Long time no update. Comment, Critique, Advice Are Welcome ! Feel free.. Update Log : UPDATE : 15/02/2014 : Try To managed everything. UPDATE : 20/12/2013 : Add the features!

    Fluff vs. Suspense

Hey guys, quick question here. I've had a bit of a search and couldn't find anything on the subject: I'm curious about how much time I should spend with fluff, like characters in the party interacting with each other, individual character development and suspenseful, nail biting moments in the game. Is there like a general formula, etc.?
  7. Title: The Song that Binds Us Genre: Fantasy Drama Author's Note: I was stuck for a long while in a funk developing A House God Built, so I went and tried my hand at another storyline in my notebook I formerly called "Morbus Cantata". But that sounded funny, so I made it kinda deep, like "Gurl, you're so deep, I can't see you anymore" deep. So yeah, have a read. PLOT: Morgan and Elliot defected from a Mercenary's Guild after a mission went wrong, and now they're forced to go into hiding and escape their clutches. But fleeing is futile, as the head of the guild will not stop until he subdues Elliot and eliminates Morgan. Story switches perspectives as the game progresses, telling a story from a third-person perspective. (Or, I try to do it that way). People will join you in your quest to absolve yourself from enemy clutches. But how high is the price for freedom? MAIN CHARACTERS: Morgan/Captain (Charges TP twice as fast) A strong-willed swordsman. He was the Captain of a squadron charged with the kidnapping of a Duke's daughter, until he had a change of heart. Now he runs from his former guild and home and willingly bears his cross. Sadly, people refuse to leave him be. Elliot Goulding/ Bard (Nigh-perfect aim) An eccentric, loyal assassin with a charming voice. After a dispute with his Captain, he chose to follow him. Good-natured, but sometimes talks of what people see as nonsense. Gallahad/The General Referred to in the guild as 'The General', his prowess is rivaled by Captain Morgan. Known for being a sadist. Constantly leers at Elliot, if you manage to see past the shadow of his helmet. MAPS: Linear, story-based paths, with few deviations. You'll find treasures and hidden stages to bonus items and paths. (That's the plan, anyway.) ITEMS AND SPRITES: Picking up sprites that come close, for now. I don't think I can make much on my own. I'll give credit where it is due. As for items, they'll be kept in light-hearted notes. Expect anti-climactic descriptions, maybe funny depending on who reads and who gets it. COMBAT SYSTEM: As of Alpha Chapter 1: Basic turn-based, XP-Style HUD. Turn-based. Still resolving ATB. I managed to mix an XP-Style battle system with the basic ATB, and I've been trying to configure it to not lag. No success as of Alpha Chapter 1. Also, I've been trying to set a party exp system, where all characters are the same level no matter who leaves and enters. If you guys could help me find a script that does this, I'd be most happy! You can learn a good number of skills, but only equip a certain number of them. That's to avoid overpowering characters. Some spells are available for the shop, and only certain characters can learn them. As of Alpha Chapter 1, no characters are available for learning them yet. They're not introduced in Chapter 1, my apologies. Different classes use different weapons, and their skills depend on different stats. Similar to DISGAEA's weapons, but without equipping anything to anyone. ALPHA-TESTING: Any ideas and opinions would be great. I've uploaded a mega-mega alpha on mediafire for those interested in alpha-testing it. The file is pretty big (Around 128.23MB) because I plan on making the whole game, instead of tearing it apart chapter by chapter. There's so much with this, and I was just so happy to push aside Chapter 1 of the story. It was a lot longer in my notebook. Link to alpha: http://sh.st/w7mst It's still practically skin and bones, no muscle to hold it steady. I'd like you guys to test out the eventing and see if it seems fluid. I'm using a Virtual Machine so it always lags since my computer is kinda crap right now with its VCard and can't run smoothly in VBox. (HELLO, LINUX USERS!) So I request people to give me comments, advice, and maybe a link to a script with the level-up thing. I would love that! I look forward to your input/s! P.S. I'm not sure if this gets kicked out of Theory and Dev't since it has an alpha thing. it isn't a beta, so I kinda smart-a**ed posting. If it doesn't belong in Theory and Dev't, could an admin help me move it?
  8. BLURB: I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right side of the forums but some other people asking help with story concepts are here, so I figured this might be the place. Also, the description and rules of this forum aren't really against story concepts, so yeah. But if it needs to be moved, help me move it. DILEMMA: Need help with my game concept, in general. Genre: Fantasy Drama PLOT: As [snow], you are the star football player in your high school. You rush to school and you accidentally bash into a dork who you apologize to and bring to the nurse's office after seeing him bleed when he hit his head on a sharp rock. He forgives you after numerous apologies in the office and you leave for class. When you see him again, he is bullied into a locker. And from then on you see your mates picking on him again and again and you'll notice the frequency and how they get more violent over the days. You ask your saner friends what's going on with them, and they share your unease. Then one night you pass by the kid again in an alley, being bullied into a bloody pulp. You step in against their better judgement, but then something happens and a scary black thing scares everyone away and leaves you paralyzing in fear. Just when it looks at you, it vanishes. You freaked out so much you fainted. You wake up in a hospital and from there start getting to know the dork [Noel]. You meet his family, who pays for your hospital bills as a thank-you, and from there you get to know him. But his family starts giving you hints of something about Noel and as you investigate further, you realize Noel is god. And he made everything, including you. Chris, his godfather and keeper, finds out you learned the truth and explains that the bullies come after him as a way of his berating himself. God or not, he's a teenage boy with problems, and he also contradicts himself as a means to be logical. of course, that had its ups and downs, and he confronts you with a problem: if you let him realize who he is and what he can truly do, you'd risk erasing everything from existence. If not, you'll of course have the guilt of living a lie. As you progress to the story, it'll climax at the school's Halloween Fair, where you rescue him from bullies one last time and he admits to himself that something's wrong. There, you are given the choice to try to let him know what he is or not. MAIN CHARACTERS Snow "Bodie" White The main character you control. Football star, lives with a single mom and a sister. Best friends with a fujoshi and a friendly asshole. Noel Ellis Rosche The wimp who manages to escape most bullying tactics, but somehow gets chased after with more vicious methods. Can apparently control reality to a large extent unconsciously. Doesn't use therapy much, just therapy books, social interpretation, and various media to help him cope with real people. Chris Valentine Noel'd godfather, who is casual and fun. He seems to know more about Noel than the kid himself does. MAPS It'll be sandbox style, so no real map jumping. School, homes, small regions, all for exploring. The story might get linear, so I'm still trying to think of a way to make it diverse. ITEMS and SPRITES Game-related with funny descriptions. Might poke fun to a few popular things like Youtubers and name puns of celebrities. I'd love some Mack School Sprites but they're hard to come by, and after some experimentation, I learned I suck at pixel art. I might post my character designs here but I need to find some time for it without anyone in my family noticing. They disapprove of me drawing. -___-" EDIT: How many of you think shoving in gags based on popular people is a bad idea? In hindsight, I think it might. GAME DESCRIPTION I won't be using the combat system. It's all just conversations and busts, which will be time-consuming to make. I think facesets may be enough but busts seem to add more depth. What do you think? So I ask you give me your input and ideas and opinions, people-who-chance-upon-this-topic. Sometimes I think this might be too ambitious. Your help is much appreciated. As for where this should be, maybe you guys can help me move this topic or something?

    The Universe of Thought

I was wondering if most people find an in depth mythology and back story to the entire game and all of it's characters and creatures within. I know I like to try and decipher how things have to do with the mythology or how things relate to each other during a game, it's very stimulating and it gives you another reason to strive to beat the game and keep pushing through. I typed up a bit of mythology and the beginning part of the story line of my game and pasted it in here. There is a lot more story, But those would be some obvious spoilers, so I won't put the rest in. Tell me what you think about the general idea, and then my idea in specific, and any changes you would make to make it either make more sense, or have it be more interesting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mythology ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are three gods, each have their own contributions. The first and primary god, Toumult (Tumult) is responsible for the creation of all energy. Toumult created all energy, and thus created the other two gods, Vixtoh (Visto) and Honisk (Honey). Visto then went on to create all mass, and became a large hulking mass of raw power and tension. Tumult and Honey convinced him to shave off some of the mass, as it was too powerful and dangerous. Visto left most of his mass in a large ball of mass, glowing with energy. This became the primary light source to the galaxy, which consisted at the time of nothing. Visto was left as a small tower of light for all to see his glory. Honey used his newfound mass to make an image for himself. He turned the mass in to four limbs, equally spread out for walking and working, and a body to support them. Honey decided that there cannot only be three lifeforms in the universe. He made a chunk of land, a large island with grand oceans around it, and an immense forest in the middle of it. He put smaller images of himself on to this island to inhabit it. Visto liked this idea, however he though that there should be some competition for the little honeys, so he put in some creatures of his own design. Over but a mere time span of what is about 2 years, there were soon hundreds of thousands of different species of animals on this hunk of land, floating in space. The final touch was for the gods themselves to descend upon the island, and to create their own kingdoms. Tumult had few things to do with this, however he did agree to participate, and decided to add a touch of his own. He added the destructive elements to the island. He added fire, to burn all of creation to the ground. He created thunder, to strike mighty bolts, shattering the frail bodies of unwary animals. And finally, he decided that every person should have a form of identification, so he gave every organism that ever existed a soul. Their soul was the pure essence of energy, and could be harnessed upon death to power the destruction of Tumult. Meanwhile, Honey decided he would call the animals he made in his image "People," because it sounded like "Pee-Hole." He made his kingdom slowly, as people learned how to build kingdoms for themselves. Rumors are spread that his current kindom is a small wooden shack, where he studies how people think and learn. Visto made his kingdom high in the sky, closer to his most glorious and incandescent creation, the Eye of Visto. Tumult hated Visto's eye, as it glowed with his energy, yet Visto received all of the credit; because of this, Tumult made his kingdom far in the depths of the island, near the island's core. He made deep pits, some accidentally fell all the way through the rock, and filled them with immaculate pits of energy. His kingdom was bright and warm, despite being far away from the Eye of Visto. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Storyline Progression ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A knight wakes up, remembering faintly of his past, and realizing that he is alive. A realization that we all have at some point, a true point of consciousness. He maintains this consciousness from here on out. He wakes up on an important day, he is about to be knighted by the King. King Dondo the 12th, a loud, obnoxious, and frankly fat man, who is unpleasant to be around. He knights our people, remember that they're not humans, they're people, so he's a people. Peoples is the plural. It can get confusing. Anyways, he knights our people, and our newfound knight is told to go and "save the kingdom." He is told that there is a menace, a treant, named Deadwood. Our knight travels long and far through the treaturous forest of friendliness to find Deadwood. He runs in to several deadly menaces, such as happy slime kings wanting nothing but peace, giant wolves who want nothing to raise their young, and viscious nomads who want to make friends with the animals. Upon ariving at Deadwood, who is found in what used to be the famed Throne of Nature, which is now an old, decayed, and corrupted slab of stone. Our knight fights Deadwood without hesitation, and he comes out victorious (Unless you suck). Deadwood is not slain, he manages to trap our knight until he can get away. As he slips away, Deadwood mutters some mumbo jumbo about strange corruption, a foreign element that overcomes everything it encounters. Our hero takes off for the Forest of Elements to find out more about this "foreign element," however his success and survival is not Garen-Teed (LoL Pun). He heads back to the kingdom of Dondo, and talks to King Dondo about his encounters. King Dondo states that the Forest of Elements is a dangerous and mean place, and assigns a very knowledgable scholor, a mage, to travel with him. Our dynamic duo takes off in to the forest, their last recorded words being "I love you mom," in to the illuminated Forest of Elements. What horrible fate awaits them?
  10. So let me just throw out some ideas and see which seem more promising. I'll be putting them in order from actually completed, to just jotted down. 2006 PS One RPG MAKER Legend Of Varuna A powerful wizard has taken control of the world. A staple of his rule is forbidding any type of trade or communication between nations. The king of Remora has devised a plan to try and free the world from his tyranny. He plans to send only his daughter as an emissary between lands to rally the nations against Maligne. In order to complete her mission, he hires a mercenary to escort her. He offers all the gold in the treasury as payment upon a job complete. Now not to throw the whole story out and negate a remake, I'll make it rather brief, and just highlight. They go from land to land, working deals of different sorts to rally this army. Along the way the hero is further developed and his backstory becomes clear as well as his cold demeanor. They ally the world and he and the princess part ways. The story is far from over, as he ends up refusing payment and wandering. Meanwhile Maligne has caught wind of this plot and abducts the princess, and word is sent to the hero. He climbs a tower in hopes of claiming a legendary blade to fight magic. Then finds that in his current state he cannot fight evil. He then returns to his hometown and lays his demons to rest(also acquiring an airship) He then finds he must ascend to a white knight to even use the blade, so he goes to a spring where all his past wrongs are brought before him. He conquers his darkness, and becomes a White Knight, then he travels to the Sands of Time, a place where time does not pass normally, so he can train as long as he needs, without actually wasting any time. (the memory on the PS1 was limited so I made this a huge grinding area. lv 40-99 if you stayed 2 hours and played through the whole dungeon) From there he returns to Remora to inform the king to initiate the assault. He leads the frontlines and storms Maligne's castle, only to find it abandoned. Maligne has retreated to another dimension, and only the White Knight can proceed. You see flashbacks during your progress through the dungeon of how and why Maligne came to power. He was an orphan who hated the way the world was. Such evil and bigotry, hate, murder, etc. He studied for years on how to attain the power of a god, and when he did, "cleansed" the earth of "evil", but his perfect world is considered evil by everyone else, when really he just wanted to stop the cycle that humans always follow, greed, lust, war, etc. Upon finding him, he laments on his failure, but insists it is best for the world. The knight argues that; humans though flawed are not all evil. They make mistakes, some are bad, but they try.. Maligne then summons the princess to fight you. Based on if you found a secret through the game, she will either be stopped, or you will have to slay her. After you assault Maligne himself in 3 forms. Mage, Deity, and God. After striking him down, he tells you that you will never live to see the evil you have unleashed on the world. How things will return to normal, murder, theft, lies, etc will become rampant again. Before he implodes by his own power you tell him, that is the fate of Mankind, and that nothing will ever change that, but as long as there are good people, all hope will not be lost. ENDING A: You and the princess escape, and you return her to her kingdom. You later marry and take the throne, and lead Remora in an era of bliss, and world unity. ENDING B: You take her body to her father, and apologize...the world is freed, and an era of bliss and unity still occur, with you wandering the lands trying to outrun your past. In a brief epilogue, you are seen reading the texts in Maligne's castle...looking for any means to restore her life. When the screen goes black you see a message. "heh...heh...hahahaha! I've got it. I'll fix this...a world without death. Only I would be so kind...." Obviously there are tons of details, but I actually finished that game. It was limited on two memory cards, hence the idea of a remake. Especially if anyone has used that maker, there is alot to be done! I have always remembered the praise I got for passing it around and letting people play, It was a 7 hour game for me, and 10+ for others. I figure a remake would be relatively easy/challenging to bring it up to speed and tell a more full story than what I had to condense. Well that is Game one...I have an errand to run, but I'll post up my other ideas later. Input is greatly appreciated, as I was 18 when I did that...
  11. Hi there. I have just recently purchased RPG Maker VX Ace and there's a rough story that I created in my head a few years ago that I want to try to make a game. First of all, I'm not sure where to start, because there are so many things to sort out. Where should I begin? A rough sketch of the storyline from beginning to end? Characters? Battle/skill system? Artwork or music? Maps? Scripts? Does anyone have any tips on the order these things should worked on? Anyway, I want to make an RPG that is a bit of a send up, a light parody, or a figurative "middle finger" to the stereotypical RPG cliches, but of course, it will be mostly tasteful, and (hopefully) not vulgar nor crass about it. I've been playing RPGs since I was in the womb and I'm sick to death of the cliches, so I wanna do something a little different. It deals with slightly mature themes. So the first part, or "prologue" of the game will be deceptively cliche. I'm going to include as many RPG cliches as possible. The main character (I'll call him "Adam" for now, have not settled on a name yet) is just an average unassuming young man (about 16. I normally hate teenager heroes but there's a point to this). Has a childhood best friend Chester (purposely cliche name). There is a prophecy says the end of the world is coming and during troubled times the "fated chosen one" will come forth and bring salvation to the world. The end of the world is imminent and natural disasters and other weird things are happening. The world is Earth-esque, with a mixed setting of modern technology (TV, computers, video games) with some fantasy stuff. Think Breath of Fire 3, or somewhat FF7ish. One day a meteor strikes town, Adam is in its direct impact zone and the meteor smashes a crater in the town. Everyone else in the hit zone dies, except for Adam. He develops magic powers (magic doesn't exist in the world) and is heralded as the "chosen one". Anyway, as the chosen one he is told to go to so and so as per the prophecy to save the world. During his travels he meets (read: rescues) an amnesiac girl named Sarah (deliberate cliche name) whom is a priest/healing ho, whom shortly recovers her memory and (among being a runaway princess) is a priest of the local church sent to escort you to your mission blah blah. Anyway, the ritual is to take place on Mt so-and-so and is an extinct volcano. Upon reaching the mountain top and defeating the demon king or whatever (like a supposed final boss) he will get to save the world. This is where he learns to save the world he will need to sacrifice himself, conveniently by tossing himself into the volcano crater. At this point Adam refuses, saying the world is not worth saving (before this point he sees various scenes about the selfish, corrupt and evil act by humans during his travels). At this point, the end of the world has started, the volcano starts erupting, sky turns red, etc etc. Chester and Sarah tries to give him encouragement and he still refuses. Chester and Sarah now both turn on him, saying the mission must succeed at all costs and the end of the world must be stopped, if Adam doesn't jump they're going to make him. They both rush at Adam, and all 3 tumble into the volcano. The world then gets destroyed. The next scene is inside a harem/tent. An Arabian sultan-esque merchant is drinking his wine sitting down, talking to someone off screen, whom is responding back seductively. After a little innuendo filled banter, with suggestion that the unseen person has removed items of clothing, a girl bursts through the tent door with a pair of guns, demanding the merchant hand over the gems. The camera then pans outwards and you see the person the merchant was talking to was Adam, stark naked (but standing with his back to the camera, we're being tasteful here, people!) and unfazed by what's happening. After the girl grabs the gems she yells out to Adam to grab his gear and get out. Turns out they're working together. Next scene they're riding on camels through desert-esque landscape. The girl's name is Lilith and she's Adam's partners in crime and they're not above stooping low as per the merchant incident. Through their banter we learn its been 2 years since "end of the world" (no fancy name for it yet) and they make a living through robbing/stealing. 95% of the population have been wiped out, and weird things have been happening with the terrains. They walk past some walls have that a wanted poster of Adam. He goes and rips it off. They get ambushed by bandits, wanting to collect the bounty on Adam's head. This would be a tutorial fight I guess. Turns out he has made many enemies since his refusal to save the world and everyone wants him dead, hoping it would restore the world. After they rescue a farmer (or something) that was getting robbed before the bandits spotted Adam. He mistakes Adam for someone else. And when he realises he's not whom he thought he was, says there's a millionaire (or whatever the post-apocalyptic equivalent) in the next town trying to find his long lost son and Adam apparently looks just like him. Lilith gets an idea for Adam to pretend to be his son so they can get inside his mansion and rob him blind. So that's basically the intro, captured in cinematic detail lol. As for the characters: Main character "Adam" (name not set): About 18. It's not so much he's shy or introverted or antisocial, he's just very internalised and keeps most things in his head. He doesn't usually talk much, not that he don't have the social skills, he just doesn't like socialising with strangers, unless a mission requires him to (e.g., spy work) where he'll just turn on the charm, and then afterwards say "glad that's over". You'll also get to see his internal voice (think Squall but less broody and less of a loser), where he is very intelligent and very witty. His internal voice often breaks the 4th wall, yet does it subtly, as it won't directly communicate with the player but you've got to read between the lines. For example, in one event somebody will say he's broody, angst and antisocial, and his internal voice will say something like "Where did you get that idea from? Do I go around saying '...' or '...whatever' every 5 minutes? Oh, wait..." His internal voice will be used to voice something that everyone's thinking yet no one says anything, and he will take the piss out of cliche situations. Eg, in games/TV/films/everything when a bad guy got you cornered with a gun (for example), instead of killing you they always take their time and prattle on about something, most often divulging their plans. Adam will take advantage of cliches like these. He's not much of a hero, but not broody like Cloud or Squall. He comes off as selfish to others, but he believes in survival of the fittest and always looking out for number 1. Possibly bi, but not interested in romance. He's not fighting for anything in particular, as he's indifferent to most things. He is public enemy number 1, but his survival skills are second to none (being the "chosen one" makes you a cut above everyone else) and his favourite saying is something like "I just want to live a little longer". He never makes the mistake of misplanning, e.g., talking with someone about sensitive information while someone eavesdrop at the door (like many game/TV/movies) and call anyone that fail to be discrete or try to spy/eavesdrop on him "amateurs". His angle changes little later in the game, his motivation not so much, he just wants to be free, "true neutral" if you will, and don't go out of his way to stop villains unless he's personally adversely affected by their plans. Lilith (goes by Lil): Adam's side kick and about the same age. Most people will think she is loud and annoying. She is the opposite of Adam, she has no filter from her brain and verbalises everything she thinks. Her mouth gets her in trouble sometimes like accidentally giving away their plans (so Adam sometimes keep the mission intel with her on a "need to know" basis). It's not that she is ditzy, she's actually really smart and sometimes will just blab out a solution to the problem on a whim and realises it a few seconds later. She gets on well with Adam cuz he just switches off and sorta hears a muffled "mwwoooo mwwoooo mwwoooo". They have colourful banter, think Rose, Dorothy and Sophia (with Sophia being Adam's inner voice of course) from the Golden Girls. She loves jewels and is her motivation for everything. (And I'm thinking of using a gem-esque magic/skill system in game so that works out). There's no sexual tension with Adam cuz he's not interested, but she prefers jewels to men anyway. "Dad" (no name yet): The millionaire old man is the third party member. "Old" is relative, but he's about 45 and really good looking with a good bod, a DILF if you will. (This is the reason Adam had to be young else the "dad" storyline wouldn't be convincing). He's calm and collected. Adam and Lil manages to pull off the bluff (after much hilarity of course) and he accepts Adam as his long lost son. And after saying goodnight on the first night, he retires to his quarters and speaks to a mystery someone on the phone saying "target acquired". Ooooooooooh. The plot thickens. His mansion (rebuilt after the end of the world) is located on a plateau of sort, and the only entrance is through a monster infested underground channel, which serves as a natural deterrent for thieves. How is he able to live a luxury lifestyle after the end of the world? Think the great depression. While 99% of people suffered, those with extraordinary influence and wealth were still able to live an affluent lifestyle, and he's one of them. Is he really Adam's dad? Is he up to no good? Is he the end boss? All will be revealed hehe. Genesis: He looks just like Adam except blonde instead of orange hair (yes, Im making Adam a ranga!) Who is he? Is he the real son of "dad"? Anyway, influences for this game includes, Breath of Fire 3 and 4, and Xenogears, particularly the scene where *SPOILERS for Xenogears* Fei and Citan travels through a factory in Solaris where they produce canned meat. Fei was hungry so ate some, and Citan declined the offer. And afterwards Fei discover the factory used human flesh as the ingredient, and Citan knew it all along! I love how on the surface it looks seemingly normal and uneventful, yet hides a macabre secret. This is the feeling I want to capture in some of the events.

    Beginnings of a Story

So I'm working on my game, trying not to overload on ideas and get so confused and tangled up that I can't make anything out. I've just finished a "background story" that is going to be the grounds for the game, and I wanted to get some opinions on it and a few other ideas as well. Here's the background, which is going to be displayed at the beginning of the game: "Long ago, mortals and their Immortal creators lived alongside one another in quiet peace. The Immortals provided fruitful harvests, remedied plagues, and protected the mortals from evil creatures. The mortals, in return, payed tribute to the Immortal by means of innovation, and displays of their worth. Celebrations were frequent and long-lasting, with feasts of harvests, and treats from the Immortals to feed the masses. This peace and friendship lasted centuries. However, the passing of time brought on a stark realization. The mortals, dying of old age at only eighty years old, envied the millenia-long lives of Immortals, and searched to find a way to mimic it. The Immortals despised the mortals jealousy and greed, but they too were jealous of the one thing that made the mortals unique- a Soul. Soon, all out war was waged. The mortals, through the power of their Souls, were able to exploit the weakness of the Immortals. It wasn't long until the Immortals numbered only twelve. Despite their numbers, the mortals were frail, and the Immortals used their combined power to bring an end to the war. With both sides beaten, a truce was negotiated. The Immortals were slowly fading away, and the remaining mortals still relied on them to bless the crops and heal their sick and injured. Thus a pact was made for a lasting peace. The pact ensured the Immortals would survive to guide the mortals, and that the mortals would never again rebel against their creators out of greed for their power. Every one thousand years, the Immortals would choose twelve mortals to succeed them, to maintain the peace, and ensure a mutual relationship without conflict. Three thousand years passed in peace and harmony, but the Immortals, nearing the end of their time, are on edge as a civil conflict among the mortals has erupted, and their existence may be in jeopardy." Afterwards, it will jump to a conversation between the twelve current Immortals discussing the dilemma. They will mention the main character, who is unknowingly one of the twelve chosen to become an Immortal, and the rebellious son of the King of one side of the civil war being waged, and then it will jump to him. I'm undecided how I want to introduce him and begin play. I could do the seemingly traditional "wake-up-and-adventure" beginning, but I was considering just beginning the character in the middle of leading a battle against the opposing army. I would appreciate any ideas, questions, concerns that anyone has. HUGE EDIT: warning, it's quite long That's what I've got for now, opinions and suggestions more than welcome, especially if you can come up with some ideas on personalities and motives among the Immortals I haven't yet developed. I'm working on the opening sequence and beginning portion of the game (introducing the player, other important characters, etc.) and will try to update on progress.

    Hail~

Greetings~ I am an artist, writer, planner & musician interested in helping a solid project or starting one up... art: http://acrology.blogspot.com/ music: http://www.reverbnation.com/hiraether Skills: World Builder: Natural environments with focus on creating niches for real ecosystems. Synthetic techno punk when needed. Built in every RPG Maker, favoring VX, made several incomplete games. Made some huge worlds for Neverwinter Nights & NwN2. love it. World Map 500x500, showing 25% of total map : Systems Theory: I can't code but I understand how to implement the i ching into a time cycle. I am interested in getting it to make roles like D&D, but for time / relationships. VERY interested in figuring out a tarot system to top ultima's. Played multiple mmorpg, everything square & or Enix ever made (lvl 90 Brd, Rng, Blu FFXI), Neverwinters, breath or fires, lufias, etc. etc.. I know what makes a good gaming experience & I need to make something because all the new games fall short; making me sad. ;-; Writer: My favorite fantasy books are The Wheel of Time (waiting on towers =P), Every Tolkien Book, & The Hitchhiker's Guide. IRL I dig Kerouac, McKenna, James Joyce, Dostoevsky, Huxley, etc. I write automatically, so poems, lore, bard songs are specialties. I have a real love for planning epic stories on mindmaps & organizing them elementally. I especially want to speak for the disenfranchized poor in war-torn countries, the mages, the shamans & the druids. I am steeped in world mythos; irish, chinese, japanese, hebrew, buddhism, taoism, tarot, alchemy, etc. Crowley especially interests me: I actually own & have read 777 & Gemantria. I wield it like a philosopher's rosettastone of coincidencia oppositorum. Parallax Artist: these take about 30 minutes in zbrush. They are not photoshopped and are raw to show the Baldur's like style. http://3.bp.blogspot...orest path1.BMP With a little touch-up, texturing, lighting, render & photoedit, these can get very high quality. I like bryce for render lights.. I will post the final later . Illustrator: and i love to draw without the computer.. my drawing is automatic & unplanned inspiration . Yoshitaka Amano is my art hero. More art here: http://acrology.blogspot.com/ Bard Sketch: I cannot draw characters with precision unless they're 8-bit. I am suited landscapes, backgrounds, nature, devices, gears, etc. I currently do NOT draw characters or monsters graphically, but would enjoy illustrating concept work instead or learning how to make them virtually without taking days. Electronica Musician, a.k.a. Hiraether: http://www.reverbnation.com/hiraether Gamer music, electro alternative style. Windows 7 promo song "Vagabond 242 ADHD Indulgence" & MySpace promo song "Gnomish March (live)" artist 2010. Should be everything. Check out my links for more; Nothing for sale, just using them as resumes. All my music & pictures are free to listen to / view. I would really enjoy doing a High Fantasy RPG work in the vein of Dragon Quest, but I also love (TB)SRPG like Baldur's, Dwarf Fortress, Civilization IV Fall Further From Heaven and would be more then happy to be on a project of the same caliber. My render style is very conducive to a map like Baldur's, but higher resolution. A combo JRPG system with SRPG elements / maps would be a great hybrid. I CANNOT do all of these things at once, alone. So I must focus a couple jobs, or work with a team where I can skip around & work on different aspects with people. I am currently unemployed & applying for disability... so I should have some time on my hands. I use RPG maker VX currently & I just got Ace, so I'm learning... actually that's what lead me here. ( )b Please contact me if I fit your team or you have an idea so good we should build a team. -- Oneiromancer Crystal Chamber (parallax):
