I was playing with Thread and come up with this script. Introduction: A script that creates a digital clock on a corner of the screen, constantly reminds the player what time it is. The time displays is the player's computer's current time. Use: Plug and Play. Also, there are some script you can use: Clock.position = new-position Moves the clock to the new position. new-position can be 0 or 1 or 2 or 3 0 - Upper left 1 - Upper right 2 - Down left 3 - Down right Clock.stop Clock.run Hides and shows the clock. The Timed Challenge The Goal of My Challenges: To give new and long time devs a short project to stretch their creative muscles on. I want you to actually FINISH a game and have it in your portfolio. The Theme of the Timed Challenge: Firstly: the game has to FINISH within 30 minutes. It can end earlier, but a Victory/Failure condition must occur at the 30 minute mark. Secondly: The game must feature some kind of timer - up to you what that means. The Rules: You can use the built in timer in MV, or modify it anyway you want. YOU CANNOT use someone else's timer plugin or event. Anything to do with the timer, must be done by you through eventing or coding. Must be a new project started and finished within the time scope of the project. Number of devs on 1 project is limited to 1. Not to say you can't get advice/critques from other people before turn in day.) All resources, plugins etc used in the project must respect terms of use, but you may use anything you can pull together. I'll be posting this contest in number of locales; however, I will manage the contest from a discord server. https://discord.gg/rZPyy4y The Timing: February 17th, contest first posted; Updates and changes to the parameters expected until contest start date. March 5th, 12AM GMT: Contest starts. March ,18th 1145PM GMT: Contest Ends. All games must be linked and shared on this thread by this time. March 23, Judging will finalized and results posted here. The Judging: I'll be judging. Obviously it will mostly be my personal subjectivity - but I'll try to keep it as objective as possible. I will play the game for up to 30 minutes, or until a game crashing bug. There will be a total of 50 points. Use of Timer (15 points) - creativity, design, completion Thematic elements (10 points) - How unique was your vision?, How cohesive were the game elements in relation to the theme of the game? Execution (10 points) - Bugs, spelling/grammar, game balance Overall fun (15 points) - how driven was I to finish your game Single tier bonus points (up to 5 total) - Art, music, eventing, etc - did any of these one elements stand out and if so bonus points. This can't take your score over 50. The Prizes: I'd like to have more prizes; however am limited by own resources. I have a couple of people who said they'd donate to the cause. If you want to help out, PM me and let me know. Officially, the winners and prizes will be rewarded as follows. There will be 4 winners total; Only one unique winner per category. All top prizes will be shown on my stream separate from my judging. (Don't get too excited, my stream has a pretty low audience.) Overall (wins $20.00 worth of RPG Maker resources of their choice) - Grand Prize winner with the highest objective score Honorable Runner up ($10.00 worth of RPG Maker resources of their choice) - Second place winner with the second highest score Best Story - (Choose one of the following game keys) goes to the most moving or creative story. Best Art - (Choose one of the following game keys) the standout for non-map art of the game, (battlers, character design, icons, etc) FAQ: Can I enter after the start time? Absolutely! As long as you start and finish your game within the parameters, your entry will be allowed. Please leave a comment here so we have an idea how big this has gotten! More exciting that way! Do we have to make a game within 30 minutes? --The length of the game should be capped at 30 minutes. The game can have a victory condition or failure condition that is less than 30 minutes if you like, but the game itself should last no more than 30 minutes as per the rules. --The time it takes you to dev it merely has to be within the two weeks. You can take 1 hour, 10 minutes, 2 weeks. Put as much love and work into that 30 minute game as you want. Does the game have to contain a timer? Is the timer the main theme? -- Yes. How prominent the timer is in your game is up to you. Where its located - also up to you. BUT the game must feature a timer. AND 15 points of the judging will be based on your use of the timer. Can I use other people's resources? -- As long as they are free to use and ARE NOT timer related. Is this a commercial project? -- umm...? I don't think so? Does contest = commercial? If you plan on selling your entry or using it as part of a commercial project I guess it would, but otherwise I think you're ok on terms of use for non-commercial resources. Don't know exactly. Maybe someone else can clarify for us. This contest brought to you buy Fusegu Productions and Gamers Incoming - if the mods will allow it here are the links.

Hey everyone, How do I remove the choice menu from the screen without the player having to choose something? Basically, the player has 10 seconds to choose an option, if they don't the game will present them with Game Over. Problem being, is even when the timer ends, the menu is still there. How do I remove the choice menu without player input? I'm afraid my brain has been hacked to bits! No doubt there is a simple solution to this. Thank you

How? NPC appear and disappear at certain times and some other stuff
gosboll posted a topic in Editor Support and Discussion
Hi I have been searching and trying to solve these problems on my own but I just can't understand it! Questions 1. How do I make an NPC appear and disappear from a map at certain times of the day? (I have Advanced Game Time script installed.) 2. How do I make an NPC present itself once and then not present itself again on ANY other map? In my pictures I've used a self-switch but as far as I know it only applies to the specific event and a normal switch only applies to the map, not ALL maps? Is there such a thing to make a switch apply to ALL maps? 3. I want all these conditions to apply to following specific dialouges but only two switches are allowed in the conditions! Is there a way to make one of these to work not as a switch? Can't conditional branches in a way act as "switches"? - Morning-talk switch is ON (I have switches for morning, day and night-talk depending on the time of the day and these already works as they should) - A switch that enables the NPC to appear between a specific time interval. - A switch that disables the "1:st time talk presentation" conversation on ALL maps, not just the current event or map. (In the pics I have a self-switch for this but as far as I know that only applies to that specefic event). Here's what I've been trying so far: Pic1: Shows the event that enables the switch "Gotz is home" to be turned ON to make the NPC and all it's event visible. (Or so I understand it?) Pic2: Shows the NPC on the "1:st talk presentation" event with the condition that the switch "Gotz is home" must be ON. Pic3: Shows the NPC with the conditions for "morning-talk" and the "Gotz is home" switches that must be ON. (The other pages covers conversations for night and day and has different variables depending on a firendship system which increases each time the player talks to them). All events that has the condition "Gotz is home" should be able to spawn when the switch is ON, right? But during gameplay the NPC is gone around the clock. Thanks -
Do you need your timer to temporarily stop counting down, but you still want it to show up on the screen? This plugin provides you with two script calls that will allow you to easily pause and resume the game timer! More information and downloads are available at HimeWorks Originally requested by Naveed

Basically, I'm wondering if it's possible to make a skill similar to the one's utilized by Weaver (Dota 2), Cronos (Smite) or Ekko (League of Legends), with the first cast creating a "marker" with the character's HP and MP at the moment, and the second cast taking the character back to the marker. So if you use the first cast at full health and are severely damaged, all you need to do is cast the ability again and return to full health. I'm thinking on using it for one of my tank classes, and would love to see if it's possible.

Funny, 120 posts so far and not a one was introducing myself. Hello to everyone who calls this forum their hangout, however often they choose to do so. My name is Devon Smith...that or 'of no importance', take your pick. I have been part of the RPG Maker fanbase since shortly after the debut of RPGXP, though I have to be honest, I skipped VX and almost ignored Ace as well. But boy am I glad I didn't in the end. I consider myself to be pretty adept at eventing with the program; perhaps on par with Vectra but honestly who knows? I honestly don't care about my standing compared to my fellow users by the way, I was just putting that out there as a possibility. As I said I am quite good with events, but that being said I am terrible at making the maps on which to put them. Case in point, the best map by far that I've ever made was essentially a reimagining of one of the maps included in the RTP. So yeah, don't ask for mapping help...or anything besides eventing and writing. I'm a fair or better writer but I really shine in grammar (don't mean to gloat or anything). If you have some text that you're worried about missing grammatical errors in, send it my way and I'll give you a second opinion. I'm no professional mind you, but in many cases I can certainly get the job done. So that's a bit about me, mostly my history with this line of programs, since honestly who here would care to hear about my personal life? No one? Thought so. Catch ya later! PS: I have no personal life

Here is a thing I wrote randomly trying to sort out my feeeelings: Allow me first to set up the context. Context for what I am not sure. Maybe my whole life. Right now it is nearly 3:00 am on October 8th, 2014, and will no doubt be much later by the time anyone reads this. If anyone reads this. If I even put it in a place where anyone would possibly see it. But I feel like typing it anyway. No doubt anyone reading this in the distant future, if anyone even can besides myself, may well be able to understand, in retrospect, the strange period of history I find myself in. I am betting the next few decades will be a period of great change for humanity. I have heard predictions that The Singularity will come as soon as 2045, though I am personally not quite convinced, even if I am rather hopeful something interesting will happen by then at least. I have heard not to long ago that robots capable of doing most of humanity's work may come about even earlier, and nanotechnology may be right around the corner, provided the drug corporations don't put a stop to it. Personally though? I think corporations are starting to decline. Large corporation just can't sustain themselves much longer with the bloated budgets and short-sighted money grubbing management. Smaller, more flexible companies I think will thrive and, while a few big corporation will survive, they will not be as powerful in general as they once were. Cloud funding, while sometimes being scams to be sure, will come to be the easiest way to get anything done. I honestly think it's likely for computers to reach the upper limit to how far they can be pushed fairly soon, and nanotechnology will probably be the next big “revolutionâ€. How far nanotechnology is able to go I couldn't say, but hopefully far enough that humans are able to become practically immortal and immune to most disease. Then of course, growing populations will probably push us into space, and after that all we basically have to do technology-wise is mega-structures. I think AI is probably possible, but I am not sure it will ever exceed the capabilities of humans except in specialized areas. Achieving a kind of meta-consciousness with an AI that can create sentient sub-programs may be possible, as is the ability for humans to partially or fully automate our brains to do the same thing may be possible... in a way we already do this, creating programs and tools to do things for us, and dividing our attention to multiple things at once. It seams reasonable that with the right tech we could simply create copy minds that processed stuff for us and reported back, but we still have yet to make much progress on AI in general. So basically right now there is all this “cool stuff†that may happen within the next few decades, and I am sort of wasting away, just waiting for it, without a job, or much money, or anything I have really done in my life that is really worth much to most people. I kinda want to just get out of this body and into a new one already, to at least get some of my problems fixed. But all I have is a possible future that is still some time away. And I sort of just find myself completely unable to really love in the here and now. My mind is always somewhere else, either hoping for the future, or lost in a world of imagination. It's not that I hate the life and times I live in, I just can't really get myself to spend much time there. And now it is almost 4:00 am... sleepy... ... It is now the October 26th, about 3 and a half weeks since I wrote the above, and it's bound to be a lot longer since anyone reads any of this, if anyone ever does. The above is only half of what I originally intended to write. I wrote of the future and now I must write of the past. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, and I think there are many alive today that are bound to it or blinded by it, and I am not sure I am an exception. It could be the now is always going to be a place where people feel unconformable, and they always look to the future or back to their past. But, I am not sure that is actually what is going on here. I am not sure how notable it will be in the due passing of time, but things are happening and have been happening for the past few years, perhaps since the beginning of the millennium, that seem to be threatening a lot of things I hold dear. Of course a lot of good things are happening too, and even a lot of the bad things may end up being good in the long run. Avoiding the whole “war on terror†thing, which recently seems like there is a chance it may flare up again, I mostly am concerned about the state of various forms of media. Perhaps that you could accuse me of being childish, and perhaps I am, but it seams to me like media is the very framework we use to conceptualize our ideas, to share our thoughts and out feelings, and to experiment with new ways of looking at things. And to be quite honest, I find myself uninterested and unimpressed with most of it, finding most of my time is taken up with watching random youtube videos of other people playing games or people reviewing things, and sometimes read fanfiction or online comics. Not that there isn't value in that mind you, but it does make me wonder why professionally done books, television, and film, as well as playing the games myself, can't really compete with that. I think I have come out of it a bit more lately though. Fact is, I think maybe the entertainment industry in general, and especially the game industry in particular, are heading right for a crash. And the sad truth is... maybe it should. Game publishers crank out squeal after squeal, spending billions of dollars for games of inferior quality, or flooding the market with shovel-ware, and movies and so on aren’t that better. And yes there are real gems in there, and I won't deny that or try to say all new games, movies, television, books, and such are crap. Because they are not. But there is too much big business and cooperate greed squeezing every penny out of them, and trying to control everything about them. There is, of course, a lot of promise in crowd-funded projects and things like Steam and Netflix and Ebooks to let people self publish faster and easier then ever, and that is fantastic, but we still live in an industry mostly run by money and big corporations that muddle and control everything. And really this has been the way it has always been, but it sure seems worse now. Maybe because people are just complaining more and refusing to accept it. Maybe because the corporations are getting more and more frantic to make a quick buck as the walls crumble around them due to their own mismanagement. But really it's bigger then that. When I look back at all the things that were once dear to me, so many of them have gone away. Granted, a lot of them were pointless to hold on to in the first place, but still. My parents moved from my childhood home a few years ago, and mentally, I am not sure I am over that. I still have dreams of going back there sometimes. Even before that so many things from my child hood are gone... old toys my parents got rid of, old files locked on a decaying broken hard drive from who knows how many years ago, that sort of thing. I even remember when I was a kid making some very silly books about my adventures with my stuffed animals... but I don't know what happened to them. All gone now I suppose. I had a bunch of cassette tapes I used to keep in my nightstand, some I recorded myself... I think they are all gone now. I kinda wish, I had more backups, more data, transferred more things to digital formats and such, but it really is all kinda silly, but still. And even going further back, before even my own birth, oh how much history I have missed! Those strange days in the 60s and 70s where so much happened and so much changed, the whole history of the two world wars and their bloody aftermath, as awful as they were. How much the while world has missed!.Before little more then a hundred years in the past not one person living was even alive! Those times and those people will never be again. But of course I can't change the past, or even view it as more the someones reconstruction. But to be honest I don't really want to. What I want, I guess, is even if this time period right now isn't to great, I want to live through it... I want to see the future and know I have seen this past. And I don't really want to every stop living, not even after the stars go out and the universe grows cold. I want to find a way to open a rift and move somewhere new then... and even if I can't... I am not sure... but I think just living alone in a dead universe would be enough if I can remember even a fraction of all that, if my imagination still works, if my mind still operates I could create my own worlds in my head. Maybe it's already happened... but... well... we will see what happens won't we?

Hey everybody. I am in the midst of working out the story for my first game. I have worked through about four or five different stories, and have decided that I want to make this story come to life. In my story, the main character would be able to travel back in time to fixed points. At first it would just be visions, but then it would increase in power, until he is able to physically manifest himself into the past. The story starts in the land of Orna, a continent just recently colonized by a country looking to expand their reach and influence. Our main character, Kokino, is the son of one of the first people to start the colony. There are stories told of people who were able to use and manipulate magic a long time ago, but such stories are considered fantasy, as magic has never actually been seen or proven. Due to an extraordinary event, Kokino begins to have visions of a great warrior from, what seems to be, thousands of years ago. He actually feels as if he is living through the eyes of the man, who is named Adom, and lives in a time where magic was common. Through this experience, Kokino begins to learn combat, magic, and other life lessons from his time traveling experiences, and has to then use these experiences to try to prevent a devastating event that destroyed Adom and his time from repeating itself. So to boil it down, the game would actually follow two stories. Kokino's story wouldn't venture too far beyond his own village, where as Adom's would visit many different locations. I'm not looking to have a world map, but instead have the characters travel from place to place through the use of normal maps. Adom's story would also be told out of order as Kokino learns to control his time traveling power over time, and so the player would get to figure out Adom's full story over time. If you could please tell me what you think of the overall idea, and if you feel like having a game where you pretty much play as two separate characters in two different time periods is doable. Plus, if you would actually enjoy playing a game like this, and what kind of battle system or other features you would like to see in it. Also, any other advice, ideas, or criticism you may have would be very welcome!
