Good morning! Good night! Good anything-in-between! Now that I've gotten smart enough to resolve issues with photo uploading, I've decided to start a resource showcase! Though, as you may see, it's a laboratory rather than a resource showcase...mostly because I'm experimenting and you have to understand that some of the mad scientist's experiments are going to go boom. Just a heads-up. Page One (You are here) Page Two (Third reply) Closed for now. Requesting rules below~ Page One (You are here) Page Two (Third reply) So, I'm guessing this is why you came here; to look at the resources experiments! Hey guys! It's Tsarmina, back again, attempting to relieve herself of some mid-exam-week(s) stress through the cathartic experience of...writing...stuff. Yeah. That's a good description. Sketches: A Woman in Venice is a little collection of random stuffs that I'm typing up whenever I have a few extra minutes, and they're the writing kind of sketches, not drawing. (For once.) The writing style is meant to be slightly reminiscent of classical writing, mixed in with some symbolism and mysteriousness...so if sentences don't seem to make sense, it might be intentional. ^-^ And they're short, very. Since they're sketches, they're meant to paint a picture in your mind and maybe make some reflections, not to tell a legit story. By the time I'm all the way done with every single sketch though, you probably WILL have a story in mind! definitely not historical because I was too lazy to do proper research on Venice hehe 2. Sketches of: The Dollhouse 3. Sketches of: The Reflection 4. Sketches of: the Sprawl 5. Sketches of: Glazed Sunsets Sketch six is in progress!

Hello-lo people! I bought Humble Bundle a couple days ago, and discovered Game Character Hub. It's not exactly my thing--I tried it out and I think I may prefer my good old Photoshop way better--but it did give me some inspiration. As you may know (or maybe not), I create all of my portraits 100% from scratch--no bases (except when I first started), no templates, no color swatches, outlines, nada. And while I do love this method, it takes...a long time. Like a REALLY long time. :\ (Now gear yourself up, because this is going to be a LOOONG post.) Sooo, I decided to make my own generator. I have always considered the facegens of the RPGVXA system to be some sort of abomination and crime against aesthetics. ^^" Just my own humble opinion--and another thing I noticed was that generators tend to spin out characters that look too similar mostly because they have the same poses or big features. Small detail changes as well are big changes can totally change a portrait. Take Archeia's Emily from Porcupine Prin (all rights to her and EB! So NO, you cannot use these from me!!)) Dem eyelashes~ Now compare with the Emily (err...cover hero) she put in Division Heaven's material stuffs. ALMOST the same person. Not quite. Emily and....the other Emily...look almost the same. And they're pretty much the same person physically (both of them represent the cover hero cleric girl >>) But wow! Their faces look pretty different! Of course, Nessiah (bless you!) didn't just edit the face to make Emily or vice versa--there are some small differences in hair/pose/etc; but it's definitely the eyes that makes Emily look different from her almost-twin. ---- Another example. Sorry I'm using so many examples from you, Archeia. Ernest (default Actor 4) vs Sairen (PrinPrin Ep. 1.5) VS Ernest vs Sairen Granted, the age gap should be accounted for, but Ernest and Sairen look pretty similar in terms of clothing and hair, at least. (They use the same sprite.) But first and foremost, their faces are very different (, and it's obvious who's more gorgeous.) Last example for now, also from Porcupine Princess. Syrn. vs Syrn Material Version (cover hero) vs Syrn Porcupine Princess Version (better looking ) Besides the obvious hair differences (and don't mind the sizing), they're pretty similar. Dressed almost identically, and aside from what you might think, upon closer inspection their hair is quite similar. I think I've made my point. Facial features are important in distinguishing different characters. Rights to all the lovely portraits above go to Archeia, EB, and anyone else who contributed in making these. So, after thrusting all that lovely eye candy that ISN'T by me at you to compare, give your eyes a rub, and keep on reading. So obviously facial differences are important. But pose difference and angle difference are important too. Take a look at these random facegens. Rights to Liberty~ Since the VXA face generator only generates frontal faces, there's not much room for angle/pose deviation. In the end, they all kind of start looking the same, despite the array of facial feature differentiation that they have. Now, if you REALLY wanted differentiation, some people use portraits/faces from a variety of artists. But consistency is always the key for graphics in games, and this usually isn't wise unless styles are very similar (ex Archeia matches really well will RTP. <3) So now that I have this whole hullabaloo out of the way, what does this have to do with MY new generator? I'm glad you asked! Welcome to my new generator project, TsarGen. My messy, hurriedly created logo. I love cyan glows. <3 (Note: TsarGen so far is planned to only generate females...since that's my chosen preference.) Things that will hopefully make my portrait generator not look repetitive include: 4 different angles for the head: 3/4 facing left, 3/4 facing right, 1/1 frontal, and 2/2 profile (<<this last one should make Spectre happy) 5 different angles/positions for torso (which will blend seamlessly with all head/neck variations): equal shoulders, tilted left, tilted right, raised shoulders, crossed arms, spread arms 4+ eye shapes: round, arched, narrow, doe-eyed 5+ eye/iris/pupil designs (this is important!): split shade, gradient, starry/glassy, ripple, large pupil 5+ lash differentiations: wide-spaced, full, cat eye, flat, low 5+ ear positions/type: E-shaped round, angular edge, long, tall pointed, frontal view 9+ mouth positions: neutral closed, wide smile, small open, side-view open, side smile, closed smile, neutral open, sad open, cocky grin As well as numerous hairstyles, accessories, piercings, face decorations, and clothes Here's a grainy written-with-images picture if you don't get all those weird terms in the bullet list. I hope with so many pose, angle, and facial differentiations, that this can make a generator successfully pretend to be unrepetitive. Sadly, I have no scripting language, so TsarGen will not be an actual program that you can download and make your own portraits....since I'll be doing all the piecing things and stitching people in good ol' Photoshop. It won't be easy, but I hope to get it done. Each TsarGen portrait will, of course, be done in Tsarmina style because I'm the one developing/drawing them. They should blend in just fine with my hand-drawn scratch portraits. Most TsarGens won't have emosets I'm guessing, but maybe a couple of some of them. It all depends on the success of my generator "program." As for if I'll continue to make make 100% created-from scratch portraits, the answer is Duh Yes. But for NPCs, random people who just need a picture or two--this should do the trick. Hopefully I can make TsarGen have the same generator pieces that would match the Ace generator sprites, therefore letting you use Acegen sprites but TsarGen portraits to go along with them. I suspect this project is not going to be completely foolproof, and I may have to do some editing before I release portraits in case of small artistic discrepancies (Your head's skin tone doesn't match with your shoulder's!), but ultimately, I'm hoping to start generating portraits soon. As for if my pose/position/angle/facial theory will indeed make TsarGen a totally different generator that gives the illusion of non-repetition....only time will tell. ^-^ -- Portraits made with TsarGen will probably have the little TG symbol next to them: It's the same size as an emoticon~ Have a great day and I will be developing TsarGen from today on! Special thanks to: Archeia @Division Heaven: letting me use her portraits and PrinPrin/PorcPrin/handmade work for comparison purposes Liberty: face generator examples belong to her and EB Source: Tsarmina's Laboratory

Good morning! Good night! Good anything-in-between! It's me, Tsarmina, back again with her lab goggles and chemical explosive reactions. I feel that my Laboratory has been relatively successful, and I thought I'd spread the love, science, and art by starting a mini-lab for all you budding interns out there ^-^ I can't have you working in my lab though--it's too dangerous! So you guys get a mini-lab instead. You can explode as much stuff here as you want, because it's all for your practice! I'll be posting everything I can think of helpful-wise here--art tutorials (if you want to draw like me), Photoshop and Corel guides, VX Ace step-by-step tuts, and tidbits from the depths of my crazy mind. Anything for you guys~ <3 1. The Bare Bones of VXA 2. Tilesets Minilab 3. Static Opening Cutscenes! *customizable 4. Turning to Watch 1. Hair Colors 2. I'm Watching You: Eyes 11/27/13: The Mini-Lab is open for all scientists! <3 Also have 1. Bare Bones open, but it's like...baby steps. 11/28/13: Second tutorial is added ^-^ Just a mini tileset lab. 12/04/13: Art Materials requirements added. 12/11/13: More tutorials! I'm so happy ^-^ 01/02/14: The FIRST art tut 01/08/14: I'm Watching You!!! Support me!

somewhat proudly presents A game in development by Tsarmina Introduction (Tsarmina) "Didn't your mommy teach you it's polite to say hello?" I'm Tsarmina, resident redhead, global moderator, and misleading cutie. I first began using VX Ace in the summer of 2013, with no previous programming experience. So bear with me, because I’m still learning. ^-^ Ariel’s plot came into my mind, in the form of fragments of inspiration, when I was just ten years old. Since that time, it has evolved greatly in the back of my mind, and has returned not as a novel but as a game. Despite its title and relation to water, Ariel is not inspired by the Little Mermaid. Ariel is a MIST Games production. MIST stands for each of my four personalities—Minzy Lin, Ies Dejarnette, Soizelle Ravenscar, and Tsarmina Vernehawke. Thanks for supporting me in my endeavour, as I am working on this project as a one-man team. Story (Ariel) "Time is a continuum, ever flowing, ever moving." Atlantis is regarded as a myth, where mermaids swim and water swirls. In truth, Atlantis does exist. Of course, this is only a legend in the mind of high-school swimmer Ariel. But beyond her fantasies of shimmer-tailed beauties and clear water lies a real world of witches, elves, angels, felini, avi, and yes, mermaydes. Ruled by a tyrannical queen, Atlantis is about to be thrown into boiling turmoil by the battling political organizations that are rising, ready to destroy the queen's rule once and for all. Cast (Elise) "Who am I?" Screenshots (Safire) "Look into my eyes and tell me what you see." Terminology (Nadeshiko) "I don't think you understand. Let me explain this to you." Gameplay: (Sasha) "Rules of the game...." Features (nemesis) "Ice cream isn't good unless you have a cherry on top." Future plans (Pharhan) "Live in the present, live for the future." Credits (Cordelia) "I can't live without you." Support (Deinara) Support me and Ariel! Here's a fair share of support bars which you can pick from. (Or you can pick ALL of them!) Just highlight, Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V into your signature. ...Oh wait, those aren't up yet either. Under construction, fellas. Under construction. To check out some more art by me in the same style as Ariel, take a quick detour to my Resource Laboratory! Dev log (Max) Most Recent Update: 08.29.14: Screenie added Archived Updates:

If you know me at all, you know that I love drawing. =^-^= (Hence, resource showcase.....) When I'm feeling sad or happy or lazy or relaxed or stressed or whatever, it's time to break out the tablet or the paper/pencil. And occasionally, the wall. 0:) Over the course of three years, my bedroom wallpaper, which was originally a flat single color, has become covered in a ridiculous set of random sketches. It's just in pencil, so it looks actually....really rough and kind of yucky. \(|||O_o)/ When I can't sleep and I'm too lazy to go downstairs and turn on the computer (kinda slow when booting up), it's time for wall sketches. My wall currently has quotes from books/movies/games, sketches of an very interesting solar system/alien mix that I saw in a store once and kinda replicated, manga/anime, chibis, and abstract rectangles and such. It looks a little like a torture room. ^^" On that note, have a great day! o/

On a (very important) side note: Guys, I'm leaving today on a really long trip. (June 17-July 25) so I'll be gone for a really long time. ;_; I won't have much Internet connection, and I'm not bringing my tablet, so you know what that means: requests are on hold, resources are on hold, moderating is on hold, ReStaff (on my part) is on hold. :\ However, to make up for it, I created a large selection of resources for you guys to use in one big dumpload to last you all for the time that I'm gone! I hope at least some of you guys like these, since it's obviously not my best work--packing is such a pain and takes forever. >.< These resources are definitely not "super-stellar"--and they did explode quite a bit while I was mixing chemicals. Without further ado, here's the stuff to last you for 1.5 months: ~A ridiculously large amount of screens (10) Said screens include: ~3 versions of a kiwi one ~3 version of an angel one ~1 sunset ~1 target Game Over ~2 versions of an achromatic Game Over ~Battler (1) which includes a sneak peek at the collab So it's quite a bit of stuff for you all! Enjoy it, use it, and I'll miss you while I'm gone. TT^TT --- Well, that's it. Content for an entire month and a half! Good-bye, and I'll see you at the end of June! Source: Tsarmina's Laboratory

Short anecdote of what happened today while I was making lunch....I'm a big fan of noodles, especially the soupy kind. Asian taste buds, redhead face, what in the world Anyway, I usually crack an egg and put it in with my soupy noodles to give myself some protein. However, as you know, I just got back from my 1.5 month trip, and I haven't clipped my nails in three weeks. So I lightly fractured the egg on the edge of the pot, tried to crack it open, and....whoops. Lesson learned. XD ~Tsarmina

Hahaha, I always enjoy making tags. So much fun =^-^= So....do you guys remember Slenderman's family? It was this total sketch thing for my characters in Ariel. I've been developing them in my Laboratory, and it's been slow going--but it's still been going. I thought I would do some comparisons on how my sketches have turned out haha. Old vs. New! Get ready, set, goooo! Alexis: Alicia Ariel Azalea Beau Celina Dawn Elise Esther Lilian Lisbet Louisa Magnolia (Azalea's identical twin) Mariella Marnie Nadeshiko Noel Reyna Safire (the only one with a face) Susie Tina Cordelia, who never changed...: Sooo, quite a bit's moved, huh? Looking a little better now? I'll keep on working ^^ T~

Ahhhhhh....it's SOOOO nice....the feeling you get when you finish an exquisite project (which took you like 4 months =.=") I finished the portrait of Coralie today. It wasn't exactly easy, and I'd been procrastinating on her for a looong time. But it's worth it! I think she turned out just as well as I hoped! ^-^ Well, maybe not quite, but close enough that I'm satisfied. Who knows what this post is supposed to be about, anyway? Why did I start this...well...whatever.... Coralie is from The Phantom, which is a novel/book that I'm currently writing and probably will never finish, but I just wanted to show you guys a little about her. She's a princess, yes, but she ain't your typical damsel in distress. She also has an incredibly bright personality and the ability to see everything as good fortune (She sees the glass completely full even when it's empty =.="). Anyway, this is Coralie: Tada~

So...hi? It's been quite a while since I last "blogged" (who came up with that word, anyway??) and since I felt like this wasn't worth posting in my Laboratory, I decided to put this trash dump here. It's a buttload of sketches that will eventually, someday in the far future, become portraits for my game, Ariel. (Which I'm considering actually not making, but whatever.) They are horribly messy, obvious, thick-lined, and big. And much more than just that. I'm currently dubbing them Slenderman's Family because none of them have faces, soooo.... Enjoy the dump, and please don't use my sketches Alexis: Alicia Ariel Azalea Beau Celina Dawn Elise Lilian Lisbet Louisa Magnolia (Azalea's identical twin) Mariella Marnie Nadeshiko Noel Reyna Safire (the only one with a face) Susie Tina Hmeee....Oh yeah, and then there's Cordelia, the only one finished ^-^ I still have to sketch out Hilary, Stella, Jonathan, Sana, Nick, Calliope, Pharhan, Lorelle, Deinara, Sabrina, Nemesis, Esther, Diana, Felix, and Max...yep, lots of characters. Plus my NPCs ^^" And there's Slenderman's family for you. T~

Heya guys! I updated the lab again, hoorah! And I also added a support bar in case you guys (for some wacky reason, I know) want to support my lab. Just watch out for all the chemicals! I feel like I haven't really publicized my laboratory enough, so a blog post was born. So far I have a lot of stuff going on in that lab! I have an assortment of portraits with some emosets, some without (and added Cordelia today, mmm!), and four requests. Maybe it's small, but I like it! ^-^ You can grab the support bar from my sig and put it in your own! T~

Heya guys, Tsarmina here. I originally had a blog going to my external blog but for some reason I can't figure out how it even links there >.<" Total newbie, of course. Just wanted to say hi and for anyone else who's new, come and say hi Tsarmina
