How. Placing NPC Character and diaglogue.

Recommended Posts

I finished the 7 tutorials on the website I purchased RPG Maker from, but they did not cover how to place NPC characters on a map.  Are how to place characters who will later join your party.

Would also like to know how to make dialogue after I get these characters in my map.

Can anyone give me a quick explanation or point me towards tutorial that explains this?

Events you place on the map can be anything from an NPC to an invisible event that runs event commands.

By the sound of it, I think you are at the point where you need to just play and fiddle with the program, look at everything in the database, create events and mouse-over each event command button (leave the mouse hovering on them) to bring up a tooltip that will give an explanation of what it does.

Then... playtime! After reading the tooltop, try those commands out one at a time to see what each does :)

Getting to know the program is an important step in learning how to use it.

Also searching for a switches and variables tutorial would be the step after that I would say.

I set an event and tried to insert character into his home.  At first he would not be there when I did a playtest.  Then I fiddled around and got him in the house there, dialogue is working.  But now I got his clone in my party somehow trying to tag along.

How do I regulate my party?

I take that back, wen I take him out of my initial party he also disappears from the spot I planted him in his home.

Figured that out.  Now I'm trying to use event to place a plant on the ground that will yield an item which I created when activated.  Everything seems to be in order but plant does not appear during playtest.
