rmvxace Renascentia Review [As always, by the lovely Dante]

Okay, I'm back.

Ehh. Not really much to say here. It's pretty much RTP with a bunch of character creation. While that kind of thing doesn't really stick well with me, I think it played out...for the most part, pretty well.

Eww, Tankentai.

I felt like the battling was, all in all, a bit too easy, especially when Magic basically outclasses the character's normal attacks. They should really be about equal. Also, it was a bit hard to determine which enemy I was targeting until actually initiating battle.

I did notice a few glitches. One of them is Taylor's sprite in combat. I don't know if it's improper placement or the actual sprite itself, but it seems like his hair bobs up and down by a pixel when he is idle in combat. The other is that in the northern part of Troy (it was only here that I found the glitch, don't know if it's anywhere else), you can walk through the base of the trees, but not through the actual bush (the top part you can't walk through as you normally can, but you can walk through the bottom part).

There is a spelling error when you get done with all three scenarios. I don't remember where exactly, but I did notice one.

None of the characters are really memorable; they all feel like one carbon-copy of each other. No one really has redeemable traits that I would consider to be spectacular. Everyone is flat, and WHERE IS THE WOMEN? This games needs more women! It would definitely spruce things up if the game turned into a reverse harem.  :D

The parameter set function is kind of glitchy, since it stops all background music from playing. And the mouse function I didn't really use much of either; it's simply there as kind of an aesthetic.

Plot time! It's said in the lore that rampaging monsters are roaming the land, yet it seems for, almost the entire length of the demo, you're fighting soldiers. And also, I find it "out of place" that humanity would revert back to primitive technology instead of steadily progressing forward, but then again I've given up on humanity as a whole. And also, never trust anyone with loaning a gun. :|

If this review had a name, it would definitely be, in all caps, "Where is the women?".

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: For an RTP game, it was exactly as I expected: RTP-centric, with slight changes done to the debuffing spells' names and what exactly it is you are debuffing. There weren't any redeemable features, and the game is kind of easy to forget, especially with the plot, which is, in my opinion, a step backwards from everything else.

RATING: 3/5.

Time now for another episode of "Watch Dante fail at C/P".

Congratulations, now no one will ever want to reply to your topic ever again.
