HP, MP and TP

Recommended Posts

This is something I should probably already know, but I guess I aught to ask anyway.

What are HP, MP and TP?

I'm mainly asking about TP here. What it stands for and what it does. I'm already aware HP is generally Health and when it runs out your player dies/faints, and MP is generally Magic or Mana which is kinda like ammunition for magic attacks.

But what's TP...? Is it experience points, perhaps? If not, what does it stand for and what does it do?

Also, if I want to rename MP to, say, PP under my "Terms" tab in the database, will it change every instance of "MP" appearing in the game, replacing it with "PP"?

Thanks!

TP is basically what you need to use a skill. When you make a skill you can set how much TP it needs, and only when that character has enough TP in battle will they be able to use that skill. You  can also set how much TP you can gain from an attack. Here's an example.

A skill costs 20TP to use but that character only has 10TP, that means they won't be able to use that skill. You then use an attack that gains 10TP, which means on your next turn you'll have 20TP and will be able to use that skill that costs 20TP. You also get TP every time that character is hit, but I'm unsure of the TP gain from that.

And yes, I believe switching MP to PP would change every instance of it in the game.

I think it can be done through scripting although I have no idea. The TP is basically just set as 100 being the max so I think it needs a script to change that maximum.

Also, by default, TP for each actor is randomly assigned at the beginning of battle, at a value between 0 and 25.  And it resets every battle.
