Few questions and ideas

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm starting to think about a game I'd like to make and a few questions popped up :

1. Graphics-wise : would you consider it an interesting thing if the graphics of the actors during exploration would be the 32*32 default ones (but entirely customized) and during the battles it would switch to Holder's animated battlers style of graphics ? (again customized)

2. Design-wise : for what I got for the moment, there would be a dozen or so of playable characters, each would have a personal way to fight (for example one would attack with a chain system, an other one would play with different transformation, etc...). All those characters would be dispatched through the world and it would depend on the player to travel and meet those new actors to 'unlock' them (some of them would be directly encountered through the main story). The difficulty setting would only limit the maximum number of the party and you could customize your party any moment from a screen (probably available only out of dungeons). Does this sound good ?

And that would be all for the moment  :D

Sounds fine to me. THe 2nd part kinda reminds me of Suikoden's character collection set-up. If you don't know, look it up. Maybe you can find a good base to go from with that.

As for 1, that's fine, but I find that 48x32 graphics are a lot better. You can really do a lot more with the taller graphics as they look way more proportionate and can fit in more details. There's also generators available for that size. Like the looseleaf generator and a number of RMXP generators.

I think party change anytime would make the game too easy because of some boss's and monsters could be destroyed

because of all the custom toons and skills like oh this monster is weak against this and i switch out and smash it

i love a hard battle sometimes maybe have party change on a town only or change at a inn or pub as an idea?
