Cait 385 Posted December 4, 2013 I was glad to help. I have been busy with editing, cleaning and doing graphic. Currently in the middle of a request, but hope to put up some graphics by Christmas or earlier, if it can be helped. I am doing city graphics for more run down city situation, as I was inspired by the recent announcement of the zombie tilesets. I would love to take a second to thank all and anyone who as ever looked at, or watched this topic. I have grown even even more confident over the last few months, to push what I think I can do. There is more to learn, but honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. (=^o^=)
Dziva 0 Posted December 15, 2013 Yay zombie stuff!!! Once I finish this first game I'm making (I got super slow but trying to get back into the groove, grr exams) I want to tackle a choice zombie game so yay for zombie tiles!!! Your tiles are gorgeous Cait!!! Exciting to think of them getting even better XD Even more gorgeous tiles??? Games will be so fabulous!
Cait 385 Posted December 15, 2013 Thanks! I have some many planned, research to do, but I hope to finish some store windows, before I release them. For example, I'd love to do the following tiles, stores, gas station, rec like pools and sports, schools and hopefully, park stuff. Definitely long term sort of graphics. I hope to release train interior graphics, but I may not release those this month. Although, honestly, the park stuff is going to be hard, mostly point of view. I admit with the horror type graphics, I am on the outside stuff and should return inside soon. Now, only to learn blood slaughter graphics.
Cait 385 Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) MERRY CHRISTMAS or from my point of view: Happy News Years! Or Yule as I think of it. Anyway I have been promising some Christmas gifts for you this year. I have been creating graphics to use in my own game but let you use them as well. Namely because graphical consistency is really important. I am in the middle of doing what I like to call end of the world graphics. Namely being inspired by the zombie pack only honestly it won't fit in with what I have. I do plan on creating some science fiction type of tiles but not Celianna's versions more like Star Trek type... You know real science fiction. Which I admit is going to be hard at least I have to have a direction. Anyway look at the front page for character sets and tile sets. I will edit this later to tell you exactly where so you don't have to look all over the main page. Modern and in character sets. I do wish I had or could have thought of more signs to use but as they are so small... It was hard to have signs with a simple pattern that was recognizable on sight in a graphic form. Anyway I was going to put load an elevator only got cold feet and my Egyptian tiles only I forgot to remove someone else's edit. I will upload those at a later date... This weekend or Saturday. I am still in the middle of creating the interior version... Hmm I might have to leave that up to someone else. We'll see. OneCutStudio 353 Posted December 19, 2013 Just browsing through. When I have some more time I am going to look through your resources carefully. I totally respect your work. You have some great stuff going on here Cait! It is nice to have other people to inspire each other and bring out our collective creativity!
Cait 385 Posted December 19, 2013 @Grannydeb yeah, I do have some ideas, only as an introvert I am a bit overwhelmed and going to finish some graphical projects before I return to those. Likely, after the holidays when my mind isn't so cramped with ideas. I plan on creating an external tiles, and some other tiles like a temple. @onecutstudio s, I get inspiration from everyone and everything. I am glad that people inspire others, we bring the best out of each with ideas you might not have thought about before. I honestly play quite a bit of games from sims to elder scroll, even a couple of Jrpgs. I am still going to release more train stuff and the desert tiles. I forgot to remove something I was using. So, more Christmas gifts to come!!!!! I have a bit hard tme focusing, if no one could tell as you can tell. Good news is that many of my latest tiles can be used in my buried city, so I have been working on those from a certain point of view. My dungeon, catacombs I am going to get a little inspiration as this next week is going to be strange.
Cait 385 Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE!!!! Many of you don't know this but I believe in Paganism or the Gods. While I do not force my beliefs on anyone but today is a very special day. It is a great day so I thought I'd give you all gifts. Isn't this great! Well the gifts are as following an update to my train graphics and an update to my modern signs. I am adding adding some doors that I created but with imagination you could likely use these metallic doors for anything. I am in the process of going to my OP and fixing add or replacing them. It is so amazing what you can learn and the techniques you can learn by looking at what other people do. I am going to add another graphic in the day to come and I will tell you: RUGS. I liked a pattern and style of Celianna's and thought that I could create one with a similar look only without her rules. I wish I had been able to get it closer only I like it better this way. Plus you can tell that mine isn't the same as hers. I will upload those at a later date... I have some work to do and plus I am a bit fuzzy headed right now. UPDATE: I will have to fix my topic but the best way to ensure you never miss a graphic is by watching my deviant art account. I have a link in my signature so feel free to stop by for a visit. I do update my tiles from time to time. I will try to post that I have done this as it is usually changing something or adding a couple of pieces. Anyway I have to sign off as I have a graphic or two to do and am quite fuzzy head from all the coughing and not oxygen to my brain. See ya! Cait 385 Posted January 6, 2014 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I have been working on a few pieces of graphics, some created awhile ago, and others recently. I updated the following graphics: the graveyard and the hospital beds, adding an frame and a sideways version of the bed. I have a bunch of new character sets that include a new switch, doors and a partial sewer set. There does need to be more pieces, but I thought I'd share now. Anyway, I will list what I added. card suit based switches wooden doors cell bar doors fancy marble tiles minimalistic furniture sewer tiles and updated my graveyard with the flower added and the hospital tiles. It occurred to me that I need an frame that was one its side and rusty versions… *yawn* I would have uploaded these earlier only I was playing Mario 3D on Wii-U!!!! Fun! Perijoy 4 Posted January 6, 2014 Wow! These tiles are great and are extremely useful in communities such as these. I'm really grateful to people such as you who share their art, thank you. I'm actually intending to start on tiles and pixel art, any tips? Also how long have you been creating digital art and tiles? Keep up the amazing work . Cait 385 Posted January 6, 2014 I have been messing with graphics since XP, back during those days, I would stop a project, because I could never find the graphics I needed. I wasn't confident to share anything, but it's only here recently, that something clicked. So, I decided to grow as a person and take the chance at sharing. I am pretty bad with tips, but I see what I can think of. When I first started to create graphics, I tried to duplicate some graphics that I happened to like, but couldn't afford. I still can't learn how to do patterns, like wood, metal, so those are from rpg maker. I suggest starting by learning why certain material reacts to light and shadows, and shapes. If you could learn how to create your own patterns, that is a step, I haven't taken, yet. I admit that I create by seeing, with a couple of exceptions. So, I google images from furniture to walls, even looking at what other people are doing. Heck, I have gotten so bad that I take a walk and suddenly, will begin to see everything in lines and how to recreate that using rpg maker graphics. I hope that helped, if not, I'm sorry I am a bit like my mother. She couldn't teach or give tips, either. Thank you for the compliment! I was creating so many graphics that many of them went unused, so at least, they are being used now.

Heck, I do the same thing. I look at things and wonder what their pixel version could be like, or I ask myself "Could I pixel that?" Either way, you have some really great edits here. I understand some of what the techniques you are using and I know it can be hard to explain giving tips to people, but that is why I started my Pixel Dojo thread. I hope to cover some of the techniques and tips that people can use to make good RTP edits or original scratch pieces. You stated it in your post, but I will reiterate it for you: -Tip #1: Use reference photos. I had an art teacher once who told me that art is 90% observation and only 10% pen to paper (or in this case mouse to screen?) Cait 385 Posted January 6, 2014 I took art class, but honestly, the schools I went to were pretty bad in their art department. I wish I had learned more or rather I think I wish I paid more attention. It was more free lance art class than something I call an art class. It's really amazing what you can create by just having textures like 32 x 32 tillable patterns like wood, metal and stone, or even a basic cement tile. You can recolor it and shape it, molding it to the shape you need. TIP #2: Shape, lighting and shadows. Our best friends, and consistency is very important. I think I learn by doing and seeing, experimenting.. My catacombs floor came about by just change the layers and colors to see what I'd get. I loved the look, so I kept it around. Antialiasing is your friend, too. Learning why lines don't look jaggy and look straight. I highly suggest exploring onecutstudio's pixel dojo as he is not only a teacher in real life, but a dang good one in the virtual world as well. His tutorial made me almost consider trying to create a character from scratch, if only I had more confidence in that area. I suck at characters, though. Euphoria 147 Posted January 7, 2014 Would you be interested in creating outfits for the ace generator? Specifically new armor types.
Cait 385 Posted January 7, 2014 I would only I really suck at creating characters, remixing is what I have been doing. Otherwise, I would have created a million clothing by now. I am sorry.
Euphoria 147 Posted January 7, 2014 It's okay! Thanks anyways.
Cait 385 Posted January 8, 2014 I have updated the sewer graphic with added tiles, stairs and such on. I, also, have added another set of minimalist furniture, only not for children, yet, but a kitchen, some desks and beds. I left the surfaces, mostly empty to give you the ability to add things, if you desire. I do plan on creating a children's bedroom and I have to finish up a free graphic request. I am sorry that I haven't finished it or started it, yet as I got sick, had a commission and cleaning to do. I will start it on Friday or Saturday! I haven't forgotten you. But check out the new graphics and let me know what you think. If you have a suggestion that I haven't covered, please feel free to suggest tiles (outside and inside). I admit that my inspiration wonders a bit, but hey, I never thought I would have this many graphics. >_> Hmm, anyway, I am thinking of taking donations, I wonder if I can add that to the OP or would that be against the rules? Cait 385 Posted January 15, 2014 My last graphic for the month as my internet is slower than molasses and plus, I have to finish my work. I, also, have planning on my game and a request to finish or rather start. I do have a gift for you guys, a lot of beds with three colors bedding and metal or wooden versions. Yup, bunk beds. I was playing Sims 3, when I got up this morning. Honestly, I don't see a reason why you shouldn't be able to use this in both ACE or VX as the ladder is in both sets. If it isn't, please don't hesitate to give me the truth, only with respect. Just so, you don't have to search for it, the bunk beds. Yes, it's up there, too. But I figured why not here, too. ^Two versions as I said, metal and wood to make people happy. There are plenty of times you want wood, and other times, only metal will work. Just saying. See ya! I'll be glad when this work is finally done.
Allusion 398 Posted January 17, 2014 You know how sometimes the 'like' button just isn't enough? And you just wish there was a 'clap until your hands fall off and your arms go numb and your neighbors tell you to cut it out or else they're calling the police' button? Yep. This is one of those times. Seriously, I cannot give you props enough, Cait. This thread is gorgeous and so neatly put together! Not just the quality of the tiles; but also the sheer thought put into each one. I've only dabbled in tiles, but I know enough to realize when someone really goes over the top to achieve a specific end! Great work, and please keep it up~! You make this hobby even more fun than it already is!
Cait 385 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) I would like to thank all the people who not only watch this thread but those who respond. You give me the confidence to share not only my graphics but my (some) of my opinions. I would have posted these earlier as I didn't work today but I was playing Ni No Kuni which is an awesome game that I am only now playing. Yup I haven't touched the PS3 in over two years and yet it is this gem that has broken that spell. Anyway I promised you doors and believe me when I say a lot of doors. I have gates and small doors plus a castle gate. I tried hard to make each unique and push myself past what I can do. ^Note: The last door has no background for people who like to parallax map even if I do not personally understand or do it myself. I am not a mean person and plus this does give anyone the ability to add their own graphics underneath. o.o Ah to remember that I could barely color when XP came out so many warm and fuzzy memories. Perijoy 4 Posted January 23, 2014 Wow! More amazing tiles . I especially like the glass doors, to me they fit into a convenient store. Sorry for not replying, but trust me I definitely read what you wrote and the tips are great help! Keep up the amazing work! You can only keep getting better and better
Cait 385 Posted February 12, 2014 Hello! I had a bit of a, well, an blank period and I still am a bit blank about the graphics I am going to do next. However, I have decided to play a couple of games, you know, get some inspiration while I am finishing editing. No, not an essay, but a book. () Almost finished, but that's not why you came to my topic. I was playing Dragon Quest and realized that the furniture is the same size as the wall, plus the characters. I looked at the remake and discovered the same thing. I thought that if there were people who wanted to do one sized walls, they couldn't unless they made their own furniture. I have you covered. Note: I hope to add more to these and fix them up here and there. I thought I'd give some people some inspiration, just in case, you were running short. I, also, have Dragon Quest wall sort of edits to the RTP walls, because I always loved the ways those walls looked. Anyway, feel free to give suggestions and dang it, I still have a request to do. I only got really busy lately.
OneCutStudio 353 Posted February 12, 2014 Cait, I like how you are really thoughtful about your graphic designs. My collections don't seem to have a rhyme or reason sometimes. Anyways, keep up the good work. -OCS
Cait 385 Posted February 12, 2014 Thanks! I have a wide variety of interest from magic, science, future to the very past... Hmm, eureka, my next graphics is going to be stone age type graphics. Hmm, what would I need. Cave paintings, bones, furs... hmm, might be beyond me. It, also, helps that I am willing to look at other people's graphic works from professionals to other hobbyist to see what they are doing. I guess my focus is because many times the type of games I want to play are not really being made or I won't play, so I have to do the making. Plus, the graphics just aren't there. Now, if I can only learn how to draw faces...
Cait 385 Posted February 20, 2014 What do you get when you are working on a cavern set, while looking at a monster sprite? A weird mix of dragon quest and a cavern edit. One of the things I loved about XP had to be the walls, curved and you could make various unique caverns. I admit that the caverns in ACE or VX are just too damn straight, if you get what I mean. Plus, there's an ifie situation if you use XP in VX Ace. I decided or in the middle of creating these caverns in curved pieces. I admit that these won't be newbie friendly, but with a lot of shifting and clicking, you're dungeons will be better. Example: Yes, I admit that it still needs a bit of work, but if there's enough demand, I might do the whole set. Well? Is it worth doing to all of the walls like this? I will release these walls, regardless, but sound off if you'd like me to do more than just these walls. On another note, I had a free game only character to share with you today. It's not the slime from Dragon Quest but it looks like it. I added a couple of things to the FSM slime and got the Dragon Quest slime. I still am concerned about the animation, so if anyone wants to test him out.. let me know if you think the animation could be better. NOTE: Due to legal reasons, I am almost certain that you can only use this in a free game, but I am not a lawyer. The base is from FSM and just has a couple of added parts. To be safe, as I stated before, FREE game only. I know I'd love to use the little guy in a commercial project and I edited the little guy. I wanted to do more but just these two will be nice.
