I needed the city to be believable with train tracks, and believable to be in Japan, so I needed Sakura trees. Cait 385 Posted December 23, 2014 Merry Christmas, one and all! This season is all about family and how it is better to give than receive. Since my motherboard on my computer died, I haven't had a way of sharing my graphics with other people. I found a way, recently as I am still working on my game. I did have to start all over, but I am not too upset about it. I know what maps I need to create, plus, I have much better graphics... Now, onto the Christmas gifts! Cait 385 Posted February 24, 2015 It's been awhile, since I lost my previous laptop, decided to focus on my game, apply for disability and then, my father died and I am just trying to get back into a creative groove. Anyway, a screenshot of my latest work, mostly edits, because my confidence has taken a dive and trying to build it up again. I will have to restart my science fiction graphics, but I haven't given up doing those at all. Anyway, here it. It is based on Shadowgate types of scenes, so I am going to release edits and new graphics based on an abandoned tower or castle. Cait 385 Posted February 24, 2015 I suppose it comes from that I am in a sad period, so my defenses were already down... poof, my brother said a couple of things that sadly got me thinking negatively. I have kicked those thoughts out, but my inspiration is coming back slowly. (too slowly, if you ask me, but there's a time for everything) He's a great guy, but... has his moments of being a dick. Thank you for your kind words! I know that I'll start to feel better, more creative and less apathetic about things. \(=>o<=)/ I shall overcome and create great graphics. Cait 385 Posted February 25, 2015 I've wanted to make a western style bed for boys for so long, and I finally figured out how to do it. I have two versions, one with two head boards and one with only one. Because this is an edit, you are free to use it either vx or ace, plus for commercial or free games. I just had to fix this single spot! *fighting urge not to create green house wall* Oops! I guess I couldn't fight it to long, since I am a bit of a perfectionist.. I just couldn't stand to see such a beautiful screenshot with a single flaw. T_T Parallax friendly, but I suppose you could use it in B - E, though. Updated green house with four walls and a door. (o.o') I am a bit of a perfectionist and OCD about small details ... Sight! I can't help it, but I am trying though. What makes you say the "confidence building"/ "confidence fully restored" part? ..If you don't mind me asking. I think your tiles look really great and impressive, personally. \o/ Don't be so hard on yourself-- we all have to start teeny tiny somewhere. So, by creating this, shows me that I am improving and by improving, it makes me realize that I shouldn't doubt myself. And if I don't doubt myself, I started to fill more confident. My Dad's death hit me hard and I started to really doubt myself that I had gotten any better. I am certain that I will improve even more as time goes by. o_o' I was just so happy that I had destroyed the brick wall that is doubt that I guess I had to share that with everyone, including the screenshot. Which I am going to be making into a graphics pack, while practicing my characters. It's all about shading and color, right? I can do it! ^o^ Even if my first couple of attempts are not the best, it's a learning experience and I can do it over again. No more perfectionist for me! I like to test myself by trying to practise different kinds of poses or gestures. : ) I agree that it makes you feel relieved that you aren't "losing your touch" or something weird like that. I heard about your dad. I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm not sure i even know what to say. But i'm glad you're trying not to let it get to you (i think) and i'm glad that you're keeping yourself busy, and have kept keeping yourself busy. It's really easy and tempting to start thinking too much about things and dig yourself into a hole. I'm also glad that you have been talking to people. Keep yourself happy and keep feeling accomplished!! A lot of artists like to think they have plateau'd, whether that is from worry or from overconfidence (a lot of overconfidence). But if you want to get better, you will. And yea, thankfully we're not being graded, so there's always a next time if you're not happy with your graphics! d: lol If you want to get better at shading, btw, imo, you can do so much easier and faster by looking at references and even reading a bit about light theory. This is my kitten, Cat character set when she was first found by her owner, so this isn't the character set used in the game but a flash back character. It is made by Mack, so use in any engine you see fit as long as you follow his rules. It is free to edit, use in commercial games and any engine you see fit. I think I'm going to use them as temporary graphics, and when I've done all the foundation and game work, I'll or a friend will do original graphics so not all of our games will look the same, despite the sprite sheets being exceptional in quality. EDIT: How does one implement these into the game?
