Imported Map blurry as heck in game

Recommended Posts

I pieced together a map using Gimp and then resized it.

It looks fine in the program but when I have the player use the map,

it's just very blurry and even semi ugly

Am I doing something wrong?  Anyone got any ideas?

When you say it looks fine in Gimp, what do you mean?

I imagine that the problem is -  since VX Ace has such a low resolution, it's difficult to actually make images for a game and view them reasonably on a normal monitor's resolution.

If you resize the map, it can still "look good", but if you don't zoom in or change the scale you are using, you may not see what the map actually looks like.

That's my guess.  Provide screenshots?

Are you Parralex mapping? Also make sure the image is the same size as the map your using. So if you map size 10 height and 20 width, and 1 Square is 32 Pixels that the map size needs to be 320 Height and 640 Width in pixels.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

When i say the map looks fine in Gimp, I mean it doesn't look blurry when I'm viewing it from within Gimp.

I did not know Ace had such a low resolution.  That explains alot.

No, i am not parallax mapping.

Below is the 'blurry'  mapshot I took while in the game.  it actually looks a tad worse while in the game.

If this is as good as I can get, though, I won't complain.

So I guess it looks a little blurry.

What resolution is the image from gimp?  and what script are you using to use the image in game?

That should only be an issue if you're trying to squeeze it all into the screen.
