Don't think that they're terrible, because they're not.  They are just very...raw rough drafts.  The first example is the best of these in my opinion.

 

I honestly think these have potential if you work on them some more.  As you said, they are plain.  They need something in them to make them pop.  What program are you using?

Oh, see, that's a major improvement.  The red border contrasting the more pink/violet interior of the design helps make this image much better.

 

Frankly this could pass for a decent title screen just like that.  The text matches pretty well.  What I would do though is take the text and make it look something like this:

 

Beyond the

         Gates of Hell

 

Having the text on different lines and out of alignment can add that extra dynamic element to this title screen.  Other than that little critique this is a job well-done.

I really do surprise myself sometimes, I actually think this is good and that's high praise from me to me.

 

I'll see if I can make that small edit happen, if not I'll just leave it be.

I kinda had to mess around with the background color a bit to get it to blend right after I chopped the other title out.

That looks pretty good! The fire effect matches the title way more.

There's something which does bug me about that TSD (Title Screen Design) a bit, can't really figure out what though.

Not bad, It looks pretty darn good.  It just seems to be a bit bright.  That's probably that bright-ish pink color's fault.  But overall it looks good.  I'd use it lol

I think you should leave it alone. It attracts the eyes to see a contrasting image.

That's all for that then, I'll be using that design for the Title Screen - I can now move on-to other project tasks.

I actually meant that the image behind the texts (are those clouds?) was a little bright.  But still it looks good in my opinion.

I see, the text is much brighter than that mist though. Either way I'll just use it as is now.

 

Decided to waste some time on a new avatar based on what I learnt, got two actually - One with no background at all and one which looks kinda disco-like.
