Ortheim, a sickness of the mind and the soul, resulting in a never ending internal conflict between

the two, between fear and hope, with the final result being a complete turn around of personality, and 
sanity. The infected person becomes corrupt with negative thoughts, thoughts that destroy the person
who has this sickness. 
 
There have been no records of the sickness being cured and even the cause of the sickness remains 
unknown, but a single thing remains certain: If someone contracts the sickness, the will never... 
stay the same.

Lucina is a young girl who only wishes to find her father. One day a tree appears, one which has
a doorway carved into it. When she and her pet cat enters they find a thing that takes the two of
them far-far away from the place they call home. Jalyle, the White City is she ends up, but her
cat is nowhere. Together with a few companions, she sets out the find her cat her mother entrusted 
onto her, only to come into contact with a cult planning to eradicate this nation they know as 
Corterre.

Lucina

A stubborn young girl with a short temper and a sarcastic attitude. She has the ability to talk to animals but only loves one animal, her pet cat, Sebastian. She is attending her first year at Roselyle Academy.

A Friendly young man who wants to help anyone or anything that asks for aid. He wields his trusty sword in one hand and casts magic in the other. He is attending his first year at Roselyle Academy.

An energetic young lad who likes to be active and run around and he loves animals (He is very jealous of Lucina’s ability to communicate with animals). He has the ability to use monster skills change into a variety of animals and creatures. His twin sister is Henrietta and they attend Roselyle Academy together for their first year.

A Young girl who likes to be alone and is a self-confessed tsundere. She has trained under her mother to become a cleric from a young age and wields healing spells to heal her allies in battle. Her twin brother is Henry and they attend Roselyle Academy together for their first year.

A Young woman who enjoys male company as is her favourite pass time. She has attended her first year at Roselyle academy and prefers using fire spells in combat. She has attended her first year at Roselyle academy and is currently assigned as tutor for Lucian and co. for her second year.

A Girl and her Familiar is mostly situated in the island of Corterre, in the world of Arum. Corterre

is known for its magic academy, Roselyle. Many students come from far lands to enter the Academy. All
types of magic are taught there and this makes it an exceptional school. Corterre houses a strange phenomenon,
named "Magia Veltore", The name given to the unique flow of magic in Corterre which is caused by the excessive
use of magic in this region. Most people born in this region are magically inclined and all children are forced
to go to the magical school at some point in their life. 
 
The island of Corterre is a very cold continent and you won't easily find a place where it's not snowing. The capital
city of Corterre is Meeto, which is also in the coldest area of Corterre. Meeto has no king but it a complete democratic
city that governs all of Corterre. There is group of members that are chosen each five years by the citizens of the nation.
There are no official religions in Corterre, as most people believe magic is the thing that created the world, but there is a 
single religion that has been written off by the council due to fact that they see magic as heresy, Anima. Not much is known
about this religion as has never really been a well known religion.

-Magic-
Magic is mostly associated with damaging and healing spells, being able to damage landscapes
and life and also heal and revive life. The origin of magic is still unknown, most people believe it is created by "tapping"
into powerful anomalies known as "rifts". It is said that the more magic is used, the weaker
these "rifts" become allowing more monsters to enter through these rifts.

-Rift Flashes-
Rift flashes are powerful abilities taught to some wielders of magic. It is a magic spell that
has immense power and even has the ability to summon powerful monsters capeable of destroying
anything in its path. These spells are incredibally dangerous though as casting one of these
spells causes major damage to rifts.

-Wisps-
Creatures comprised of magical energy. It is said that when wanderers are lost, these flames
of light will appear and guide them to their desired destination.

-Anima-
A Cult against magic. They believe that magic should be emptied from the world and are destroying
all schools of magic. They use powerful technicues to summon all types of demons and monsters to
fight for their principles. They mostly do research on the study of Magia Veltore

-Magia Veltore-
The name given to the unique flow of magic in Corterre. Due to the amount of Rift damage, magic flows
differently and the elementals differ from other regions'.

-The Elements-
In Corterre all magic is split into four elements namely:
•Vatra consisting of Fire, Light and Thunder
•Priroda consisting of Life(Control over animals), Earth and Air
•Sistina consisting of Healing, Illusion and Spirits
•Tamadus consisting of Dark, Cold and Psychic

Weaknesses of the elements are subjective, changing frequently due to the strange flow of magic.

•Five playable characters, each having their own unique skill sets and magical spells.
•The Familiar system, in which you learn skills for your familiar and summon them in combat to use these abilities. (For those who don't know, a familiar is a pet for wizards and magicians.)
•The Cute DS Resource style.
•Different Endings to add more replayability to the game
•TP will be replaced with RP(or rift points) which will be used to cast Rift Flashes
•Rift Flashes, ultimate skills like Limit Breaks from Final Fantasy capable of one-shotting enemies into submission, usable when RP is at the needed amount to use the skill but the more you use the skill the more dangerous enemies will become and this will also effect your ending, be it good or bad, it's up to you wink.gif
•A Unique elemental system that will greatly effect battles:

*Note: If you are expecting a cute, funny little game, you are surely mistaken. The game does have the look of a cute game and is surely funny game at times but it will have a dark tone to it as it deals with inner conflict within characters and how they deal with it and interact with each other. The sickness mentioned in the synopsis will come into contact with the characters, how it will, I can't say but you'll just have to wait and see!

Well, your demo ( introduction ) is really short, so there is not much i can say about it, but i can say i do like your mapping, it's nice.

One little thing that i found :

I'm guessing you don't want us to go in there. You have a problem with the jump, i can go to allmost to any part of the map that is blocked just by a single tile ( you can't jump over the upper wall since it's made from more then 1 tile ). This is the same for the maps from outside, i just did'nt make any pictures.

 

Not much else to say, just that i'll be playing more as you update.

Aaahh...

 

How did you get there? Lol...So did you jump inside the house?And I'll be fixing those jump bugs, I added the script at last minute so I didn't really test everything.

 

But thank you for playing it and I'm sorry for that jump glitch >.<

Yes, i could jump inside the house, and you can jump all over the place like that ( mainly the lower part of the map is the problem, you can get tot the higher ground with just jumping ). As to how i got there, that's easy, i just jumped over the right side of the wall, but you can jump over the left or the down side as well.

 

Don't worry, it was fun jumping all over the place ;) .

There was a jumping glitch, you could basically jump over every wall...And I decreased the file size a bit

... The demo was kinda meh due to no system to show off but jumping, no real story to get a drift of, no dungeon... nothing but naming the cat something hilarious, I hope you make a longer demo or the game is gold.

Wow, the very first cutscene is freakishly similar to the first cutscene in my game!!  :wacko:

 

As others have said, there's not really much we can say when the demo is as short as it is. The maps were very nice, and the dialog was good for the most part. The guard in the town should NOT be explaining the name of the town in the way that he does as it sounds incredibly forced and purely for the player's sake. If he thinks she lives in the town, why would he have to say the name of it? And even if he names the town, why go even further and state the kingdom that the town is a part of? It's completely unnatural.

 

Also, I just bought a headset yesterday with the intent of trying my hand at some Let's Plays. Without knowing how short this was going to be, I actually recorded a Let's Play of this.  :P If you release a demo with more content, and you'd like a Let's Play done, let me know!

XD Really, yours also starts like that! I also felt that the guard might have said that a bit weird at the time but I never changed it >.< I'll do it now though...Not sure why I didn't XD

Finally a new update (OWO) I've mostly been working on mapping and some gameplay. I've also added a terminology section you guys can check out, it gives some info about some story terms ;). I've had a few ideas and here they are, I would love some feedback :3
 
TP will be replaced with RP(Rift Points), which is used to use Rift Flashes which is like limit breaks but using it constantly damages the foundation of magic, causing more monsters to appear and this will also effect the ending that the player will get in the process.
 
The other stuff I've been working on is mostly making the elements for my game, I'm not planning on doing stuff like fire beats ice and earth beats thunder etc. So I've decided to create my own "Elements" if I can put it that way.

The way you did the elements sounds interesting, and somewhat different from what we get in most games ( the defaul ones ). I'm waiting to see how this turns out.

Thank you Ceci! Yes I am using the facesets from the ds resource pack, but I am possibly thinking of making my own!

 

In other news I've started redoing the opening cutscene a bit, it'll introduce all the characters in their own mini scenarios with the last scenario being Lucina's. These maps are from Ein's scenario(which will also be the first one ^.^)

I find it amusing that Ein is the first path, as that is One in German....I believe. Keep up the good work, looking good so far, especially multiple intro stories, reminds me of Dragon Quest 4 which was an amazing game, primarly because of the chapter style.

Ein is one? XD I never knew that lol, Dragon Quest 4 was awesome, I haven't played that game in ages!

 

Gonna use this post as a fun update, I've been working on designs for the main characters and here is Ein and Lucina in a chibi type of format! :3

I made these "circles" that signifies the environments that they come from, Ein come from a kingdom full of forests whilst Lucina lives in snow covered areas...Damn...  I can't draw environmental objects XD
