and we've got some more updates, I'm currently working on a new Trailer for Spirit Timer, and to go with the trailer we have the following boxshot made by Cecillia which also gives a hint into the newly updated intro to the project...more on that to come, with the new trailer being created as we speak ^_^

Following on from this we have a few new mapping screenshots with the updated sprite in game :)

I've got a tasty treat coming for you guys soon.

Also we are on IndieDB and we are also on GameJolt, so if you're a member there you can show your support for us there too...Sadly due to the main SMC Games website currently being down 0_0 my only other form of update place apart from here is on our facebook page, so for some of the smaller updates I'll be posting them there!

Time for a long awaited update...I've been so busy with commissions I've not been able to do any Spirit Timer stuff for ages...but
for yesterday I gave myself a break..and had did some more work for Spirit Timer! So let's dust this off and get to showing off the new update...

I've been re-working the Spirit Timer Intro. I decided to get Akal in the intro moving a bit more! As the town that Akal lives in, still has some interesting characters around! So I decided to move him around.
The cutscene has been updated, and eventing has almost been completed.
My next plan is to add in an intro sequence, with the title of the game, and also a few credits, with a pan of a few of the maps, whether this is definately gonna happen I have no idea yet, but it's certainly a plan I might investigate further :)

Also, Akal's had a Revamp...after a short while of looking at him, he felt too similar to one of Cecillia's other characters xD so we decided to give him a bit of a re-boot and an update:
See Akal wondering through the Rain-y Somini Village, looking ever so slightly lost:

Random-Promo-Background.png

Doesn't he look gorgeous  Anyway, in addition to that Ceci has updated the sprites as well to make it fit with the game easily, sadly due to time constraints we are saving out lovely bases for Lullaby, and we're going with Mack Sprite Edits by Cecillia and I'm already thinking that he looks beautifully amazing :D

I'm back on the case again with Spirit Timer, and most likely going to be doing more work on it today xD

BUT WAIITT THERZE MOREEE...and this onez a SCREAMER

I've written a new track for the first map (which was about the only one which didn't have a new track :x)  You can listen to the new track here

Thats all for update for the moment, be prepared for a new game play video soon! :)

To be completely honest I actually thought this was dead when Shaddow seemed to become... well, a shadow - I had my eye on this when it was active and then kind of lost interest when nothing happened for a few weeks, good to see it's still alive.

I like what you've done with everything, Akal looks like a magic cultist of sorts to me for some reason - Could be the eyes.

Now that I know this ain't dead I'm going to follow it... like a shadow.

Once again, I like what you got going here and will eagerly await something playable.

Thread looks great, game also. But your credits section looks out of place with just a simple bold header when the rest of the thread is using fancy text.

I also think the storyline section could be a bit more descriptive. What exactly are we going to be doing over the course of this game? I didn't feel that was communicated to me. All I see is that we're going to be trying to escape Akal's spirit timer, I think. But how are we going to be doing that?

It looks interesting and all but I think I need a bit more information to be like "oh, I definitely want to play this game". There's also little communication as to the nature of the gameplay itself.

Really the only thing I find lacking here is information about what the game is really about and how we'll be accomplishing this nebulous goal we've been given. You say puzzles, but what kinds? You say dynamic dungeons, but what do you mean by that? Is there even combat in this game?

This is stuff I need to know for a project to be attractive to me as a player. After all, how am I going to know I'm going to have fun playing this game if I don't know what I'm going to be doing while playing it?

Ooh, this has finally been resurrected! I too was afraid this may have died but glad to see we're up and running ^-^ I like Akal too! What pretty eyes~ I can just stare forever....except that would be stalkerish XD

Only comment is that he looks a little stiff around the shoulders and those little strings coming from his jacket look at little flat...(there goes the nitpicky art side of me again...)

I'm glad we have a new-looking figure, though! And I eagerly await what you have coming up next ^-^

To be honest, the lack of information makes me want to play it more. The storyline section hooked me... I already took the bait. I don't know where it's pulling me but I am going to find out...

This game actually looks freakin' awesome! I'm already supporting this project.

Awesome presentation, awesome graphics, artwork and other things. I'm looking forward to this project, and it's good that this thread isn't dead. Um, Jonnie, I need some feedback in my project :\ and WOW, you got like, 25 replies (not counting your posts, but it's still a lot of replies.)

So, update time :D

Ive been hard at work with getting more of Spirit Timer done been rather busy with Commissions for other projects, so it was nice to kick back and do some stuff for Spirit Timer! After a few months of not having time to touch it :)

First off, I've been working with Galv, who's taking the time to help me learn how to script a few custom things for Spirit Timer!

First off I've been working on scripting a way to control the game menu via keyboard input rather than an on screen menu! This is purely because you'll barely need to use the main menu, so having a full on menu is unnecessary for  the game!

Second of all, we're working on making the Audio/Visual HUD system that I mentioned above, this time however, by using a Script rather than events!

So thats all very nice, but there's nothing to show with these bits and bobs :D
I've also just finished working on a new Title Screen, seeing as the older version was boring me :x

iPBC6Lb.png

This new title screen was made by myself using the Characters made by Cecillia! and made to work with HK Animated Title Script!

The eventual plan will be to have the fog, and the small hands on the clock to move as well, but for now it'll be a simple title screen :D

I've also be doing some MAJOR updating to the old maps, these are pre-parallax maps! So I've still gotta pretty-fy it :) therefore please note small bits, that when playing will be over the player, will not exist on some of the maps below:

School Room (Pre Parallax):

Kitchen Parallax (Unfinished)

Your feedback on the title screen and the progress of my maps, is most appreciated :D

-jaw slams on the floor-

I love that titlescreen, and the graphics for the main character.
Really beautiful, I'm very intrigued.

I love the titlescreen, it's wicked *Q*

The school room is nice, however I must point out that the chalkboard is positioned in a way that the student sitting at the desk directly in front of the lockers would sadly miss out on some lessons. ^^"

I give you another update!

Galv has been graciously lending his hand and skills with getting the HUD scripted, I'm pleased to anounce that the Crack HUD is now fully EVENT FREE! Yey ^_^

Now onto something abit different:

Please watch in full HD! As it'll help you to see everything! You can see some little bits and pieces from Spirit TImer and yes I can see the error with the man at the beginning :x I will kill that NPC before this game get's any more completed :D)

I voted for the full game. I was really interested when I first heard about this game. I also agree with Galv, not getting many hard facts about gameplay makes me want to play it even more! I'm glad to hear that it's still coming along and look forward to when you release the playable game.

I prefer Demo then Full game. This is how I think when a game is awesome like this one:

"No way... I can't wait for the Full Demo, it'll take forever, since this game is cool! I gotta play the Demo!!!"

Edit: Yay, Jonnie, congratulations, I've just started the 3rd Page in this Topic, which means that your game looks good for... well, everyone else!

Wow. I just saw this topic and the game and had to comment it! I love these kind of games, which are focused on the story and the characters, and have interesting features. I'm easily scared so I hope it's not too much a horror game, but a puzzle game!

It somehow reminded me of Time Hollow and Shadow of Memories, which I totatally loved. I'm also a fan of time based puzzles!

I voted for the full game rather than a demo since making a demo always ralentizes development, but it seems it already has been decided XD

Why was there no more updates for this project? Is it dead?

Why was there no more updates for this project? Is it dead?

Nope, not dead at all :) far from it! Just all three of us are very very busy, I've had a large selection of commissions as has the artist, and the spriter/eventer has been very busy with his full time job as well :)

Ironically, I've just finished another track and map for Spirit Timer which sounds a little bit like this:

You can also see an image of the map, yes it's blurred for a reason ;)
