[CRITIQUE] Desert Parallax for Sidescroller

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! I got a new parallax for you.

I am trying to make a good desert dunes parallax background. I felt like I had the top dunes down, but couldn't figure out for the life of me how to fil in the sand with more details.

After trying a few things, I just gave up and went with a dissolve fade.

Any help to make the sand look better is greatly appreciated!

Here's the parallax:

And here's what it looks like:

Also I updated my forest critique thread for anyone interest in that as well.

It looks pretty good to me, nice detail. The only thing I'd say is there may be too many hills, it gives the feeling of repetitiveness, maybe take out one of the mounds and give some flat area, might cause it bit more variety.

Oh and I've taken quite a shine to your project, are you planning on doing custom sprites?

This looks amazing Thex! You're quite good at 8-bit style graphics, that lone cloud makes me sad for some reason...

Anyway, very good job overall - Your game is no doubt going to be wonderful and I want to play it.

Thanks for the praise. I'm positive the game will be both exciting and fun. When it's time I'll create a thread about the game.

Right now I'm concerned that the dissolve effect isn't really up to par. I want to do something better to make the sand stand out and have texture.

I'll try create a spot of flat land. Maybe fill in some of the background with some fading sand dunes too, which would probably make it look better as well.
