Celt Chikyū 7 Posted June 5, 2013 So, basicly, I'm trying to recolor the basic Outside A4 Tileset into a more, Autumn feeling tileset. So far, this is the best results I have... (See bottom left and bottom near right) I whould appreciate help on recoloring, because it doesn't look right to me. and it's hard in Paint.NET. I have that and GIMP... so could anybody please help me?
charlesthehurst 691 Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) Well, I think that looks really good. You've pretty much hit the Autumn look for those trees. There are a few green spots that I can notice though. I don't know about GIMP, but I have a few ways of recoloring things in Paint.NET 1. Duplicate the layer you are working with. Erase everything but what you want to recolor. Use tools like Hue/Saturation and Level to change the colors as you wish. 2. Create a blank layer above the layer you are working on. Open the Layer properties for that layer and change the blending mode. Use the brush tool (with alias set to off) and paint over the are you are trying to recolor, but on this blank layer. Erase any imperfections, use other tools and adjustments as needed and merge the layers together. 3. Use the selection tool, then apply any adjustments with things like Hue/Saturation. It will only apply to the selection. Edited June 5, 2013 by charlesthehurst

SiIence 14 Posted June 5, 2013 You could use graphics gale for coloring in general, it zooms in on those pixels.
charlesthehurst 691 Posted June 5, 2013 Okay, sorry, I could have explained that better. 1. Open the Layer window. 2. Create a new, blank layer. Make sure it is on top of your image 3. Double click on that layer. A window called Layer Properties will pop up. Under the Blending Mode option, change it something else. Like Additive or Multiply 4. Make sure you have the blank layer selected. Now select your brush tool. 5. With the tool selected, look at the bars at the top. You should see a blank field with a [-] and [+] button next to it. Next to the plus button is a blue line with some dots on it. Click it to change the dots to squares (the icon will change) 6. Choose your color and begin painting over what you want to recolor. Remember to do this on the blank layer. You should notice the change in color. 7. Use other tools and whatnot to change the color the way you'd like. 8. Once you are satisfied, go back to the Layer window and click the Merge down button. (Hovering over the buttons will tell you what they do)

This is going to take forever! Once I place down the layer the entire cliff becomes ingulfed in some light brown layer...
HumanNinja 144 Posted June 5, 2013 They way I do a recolor is this: 1.Make a copy of whatever you are recoloring 2.Erase whatever parts you want to stay the same color 3.Use the Hue/Light/Saturation slider bars until you get it the way you want 4.Paste the recolored portions over the copy you made It's that easy
Cecillia 652 Posted June 5, 2013 I can help recolor it if you want. You can always try it on Photoshop CS2.

Tsarmina 2,612 Posted September 8, 2013 Hm. I feel the trees (especially the orange-red one) could have more of a variation, maybe some yellower spots so it's not so pumpkin-colored. Also the hedge (7th from the first tile) shouldn't be green if it's autumn, right...? Or is it an evergreen? Just wondering. And I think the third cliff set looks a little bit like...wood? Sort of a light wood, rather than a ground. I think lessening the presence of so many parallel lines could help with that. But great job!
