Galv 1,386 Posted July 7, 2013 Actor Duel Mini Game - Version 1.3 Galv Introduction Another script that uses Holder style animated battlers. This was more just to see what I could do than anything. It's a basic mini game and I don't have any plans to make it much more than that.Features This script adds a scene where you can face two actors against each other in a mini-game duel that plays similar to a fighting game. You can start battles Player vs AI or multiplayer Player vs Player (on same computer). The combat itself is fairly basic, you can move, jump, attack and block, using the actors’ stats and hp to determine damage. Each actor also has stamina that can prevent them from attacking when it gets too low. States and buffs do not have any effect in duels. UPDATE: Added the ability to setup button combo skills for actors (such as left, left, right, attack) to activate skills including projectile attacks. Buffs and state effects such as regen, poison, parameter bonuses, etc. now work. Stuns and blinds do not.ScreenshotsVideo How to Use 1. Get holder style battlers (http://animatedbattlers.wordpress.com/) 2. Import battlers into /Graphics/Battlers folder 3. Copy /Graphics/Battlers/FightSkills.png from the demo into your project 4. Copy /Graphics/System/kombat_bar.png from the demo into your project 5. Put this script below Materials and above main. 6. Read all instructions and settings 7. Remember to start a NEW GAME instead of loading a save file that was made prior to adding this scriptScriptGet it here (Demo link is at the top of the script page)Credit and Thanks - Galv - HolderAuthor's notes Please let me know any bugs, I haven't really done much testing outside of the script itself so not sure if there are any issues using it within your rpg.Updates 2013-07-11 - Version 1.3 - added compatibility with victor's animated battler scripts. Added note tag to play victory post once for actors. 2013-07-11 - Version 1.2 - hopefully fixed a random crash with AI battle. Updated AI's use of skills. 2013-07-10 - Version 1.1 - added state icons, button combo moves, working regen, poisons, buffs, projectile attacks. 2013-07-07 - Version 1.0 - release 13 Xaiyeon, Corey Zamora, ShinGamix and 10 others reacted to this
regendo 204 Posted July 7, 2013 Awesome release, Galv! I thought of implementing that kind of battle system in the past, but discarded the idea thinking that it'd probably be far too difficult to do (combine that with my limited knowledge of how battles work...). Sure, this doesn't have move combos or other skills, but it is very interesting in itself and should provide a very good basis to implement that additional feature. 1 Galv reacted to this

Galv 1,386 Posted July 7, 2013 Very cool! Just tested out the demo. I really love mini game scripts! This one is a great idea & has much potential. Have you thought about adding skills (and maybe items)? Was thinking of trying to add skills like combination buttons 'Down Left Attack', etc. But later. Didn't plan on adding items. Tested it and loved it! Its awesome! Kudos!!! How can i change each actors base attack? All actors use the same attack formula (in the script heading). There are note tags to change individual miss SE and hit animation. 1 CT Bolt reacted to this

That sounds like a great idea! Can't wait for that update... still very good script (That kind of AI is not a very easy thing to script, but you did it wonderfully). Again, great work! Pikalyze 4 Posted July 7, 2013 Awesome! I'ma mess around with it and see if I can do anything interesting . Stick figure battles, here they come.
Lisah 2 Posted July 8, 2013 Are you going to implement range attack as well Cap'n? Persay, actor fights an archer or a mage that shoots projectile elements?
Galv 1,386 Posted July 8, 2013 I shall see what I can do. I'm thinking I will make them button-combo abilities. Melee will be the normal attack for everyone. 2 regendo and CT Bolt reacted to this
Lamsah 2 Posted July 8, 2013 Oh this is so nice! I'm diffintely going to use this in my project. Please have more update Galv with more customization
RoseGuardian 42 Posted July 8, 2013 Wow this looks cool! is there away to make it so that you can have allies attack with and set it up like the Tales of series? Just curious.
Galv 1,386 Posted July 8, 2013 No, this is 1v1 fighting style script.
Pikalyze 4 Posted July 8, 2013 While I was working on my ultimate sickfigure spritesheet for this, I was thinking about character selection screens, and how it could be made easier. Then I thought up of this idea. What about if you made another way to determine what characters are in battle, say by a variable. Maybe if there are two variables for P1 and P2. It could be used for a lot of things, for a example, if someone made a character selection screen that just changed the two variables up when they are selected. Galv 1,386 Posted July 8, 2013 You can refer to a variable in a script using $game_variables[x]. So to do what you want you would use script call like: set_fighters($game_variables[1],$game_variables[2])
WesdrasLink 2 Posted July 8, 2013 Holy SHIP! Now, this is one of best systems in RPG Maker VX Ace. This is good to make fighting games, or yet better, something Like Tales Of Destiny. (Solo player - Like Shenmue) To make a more dynamic battle, you could use combinations of keys (Input) to make variation of atacks, combos and especials. Hadouken! Nice system! 1 Lamsah reacted to this
Lamsah 2 Posted July 9, 2013 Holy SHIP! Now, this is one of best systems in RPG Maker VX Ace. That's what i said! Glad Galv came up with something like this... makes me wanna make this the default battle system, LoL!
estriole 326 Posted July 9, 2013 can the battler use the actor stats? so stronger actor means stronger dueler
Galv 1,386 Posted July 9, 2013 Yes they use actor's stats. Haven't actually tested with states, though. I assume any state that gives param increases will be working but anything like stuns, regen, counters, etc. won't do anything. I'll see what I can do to make some of them take effect.
estriole 326 Posted July 9, 2013 ah i see. so if we raise the actor stat. it affect the battler. nice one galv... with modification this could transform ace to rpg+fighting game .
Lamsah 2 Posted July 9, 2013 Didn't know that was possible, i just tested it out and it works!!! Awesome for implementing this feature at first launch KUDOS GALV
Galv 1,386 Posted July 10, 2013 Well, it took a while. It's ugly and messy code. The AI isn't very intelligent but I still struggle beating it. It probably has some bugs that I missed... But it's been updated now. Added state icons, button combo skills, projectile attacks. Buffs and states work and disappear once their turn limit is up. Most state functionality is there apart from blind, stun, counter attack, reflect and probably some others. 4 regendo, CT Bolt, Cecillia and 1 other reacted to this
VenomTDA 36 Posted July 10, 2013 This is getting fast to be one of the best scripts around. With a little extra feature one could easy make a Swordcraft Story game. I'm amazed at how much you progressed from your first scripts to the ones that you are making now. Nice job.
