This is his base,  tell me what you think, his staff is a staff and a chain whip with a spiked ball on it

Its fine, my first sketch of her actually was a dude.

she wears white clothes, just gotta shade that and then the bust is done.

 

the hard part is figuring out what colors I should make for someone with blue hair and green eyes

Hmmm, if I were in that case i'd do whatever matches more with the character. If they want to be extroverted, give them bright colors. If they are introverted, give them dark subtle colors.

Hmmm, if I were in that case i'd do whatever matches more with the character. If they want to be extroverted, give them bright colors. If they are introverted, give them dark subtle colors.

I find the clean Vos (that's her name right ?) a bit too flat, obviously because of the lack of colors but also because the lining is the same everywhere. Thus your lining is clean but also a bit too clean (maybe try different breadths for you pencil/brush).

 

The design of the fox/pet is very good, sober but very expressive

Are you using Paint Tool Sai? Also, I dislike when people draw Anime - but your I like your style (what I've seen of it so far). It's very good, not many people have their own unique style when drawing in the category of Anime. Styles that I really admire are Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away. Good job!

Well, you using the pen tool you can modify you pen/brush breadth before you "stroke the path" (providing you're using Photoshop, I don't how pen tool is managed in other softs)

Thank you, I prefer to use shadows that don't have a definite shape, I don't know why it just feels natural to me.

I'm really picky with soft shadows because nobody really does them right to be visually appealing to me o3o

I know what you mean, after looking at mine I saw a few places that need to be fixed, or don't have a shadow at all.

 

P.s. lining for Katashi is almost done.

Looks really good, I love the style on him and the overall costume design.  The thumb on his right hand looks a little strange to me.  I can't wait to see them done.

 

I also love the expressions they have, sums up the personality descriptions you gave them in a look.

XD, yeah I noticed that in the speed sketch of him, I almost drew it on before I realized he has no facial hair.

Lol it took me forever to do his hand The thumb does look weird.

Thanks, I'm not at the level of drawing where I can easily draw hands lol.

 

What i do, is pick which light tone you wouldn't pick for a skin and then slow increase the dark until it fits your needs, works most if not all of the time for me.

I really like the overall style and the color palette you chose. I think Vos looks fantastic; I never would have guessed it was your first time drawing a fox-girl

 

The only criticism I would have is that to me Katashi looks younger than you said he is in your post about the story. Based on the portrait, I would say he looks about 15 or 16. Maybe a goatee would help, or some stubble. Or maybe darkening his skin tone or something. I'm definitely not an artist, so I can't give a lot of advice on how to do it, but he definitely looks young to me.
