Would You Play My game?

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I have an idea for a game and would like some feed back, to see if anyone would find this to be an interesting play and/or any idea's for features.

The story is still forming but in essence it is as follows.

A Priestess/Goddess is weakened by an Evil God/Demon and must climb her way back up her tower. she realizes that in her weakened state that she would never be able to face the enemy head on and must traverse secret passages and dangerous area's to reach its summit and take back her rightful place. Soon she discovers something in a mirror nearby. It's not her reflection, it is a dark personification of herself. Her dark reflection tells her that now that she has been weakened and made somewhat mortal that she now has a dark side, like the humans on the earth below. Her dark self agrees to help her reach the towers peak, provided that she has her word that she will not be sealed away again. The Priestess/Goddess agrees.

Game Play: The player must take turns switching between The Priestess/Goddess and her dark twin through mirrors in order to solve puzzles and find ways to defeat enemies.

When on the light side of the glass, all looks normal. But on the other side, everything will become dark, distorted and the puzzles will change. I'm planning on giving them both their own special traits (game mechanics) to make them both unique. For instance, the dark twin looks like a succubus and has bat wings, so I was thinking a form of short range flight of some kind and perhaps being able to light flames on her side of the glass that, in turn, light flames on the other and open doors. Etc... For the Priestess/Goddess, I was thinking that perhaps she can move things with her mind, or something to that effect, and will have specific objects (pillars, statues, boulders, etc...) and can use this to move obstacles in her dark twins path.

So that is my game plan at the moment. If anyone has any feed back or ideas then please feel free to share.

Thank you and good night for now.

This isn't quite the right area for this kinda post. this is for off topicness such as general discussion, wheras this post is looking for feedback on your game. I'll move this is into Theory and Development for you now! :)

The dual puzzle aspect sounds like a lot of fun actually, especially if you put enough effort into them that you sit there scratching your head for awhile wondering how to complete it. I'm not too thrilled at the character design though; playing as a succubus with bat wings is just a little too much and detracts from the supposed 'evil side' of the priestess. Not to say others wouldn't like it though.

Now, if you fleshed that out a little bit and maybe focused on human nature a little more (now that the goddess is apparently mortal after falling) it could be pretty interesting. You'd have an opportunity to showcase some growth of a character that was beyond the human condition and now must deal with its limitations, and her 'evil side' could help demonstrate that more clearly (since she seems to be closer to the god state than the actual goddess is now).

Sounds interesting though, good luck!

@Jonnie91 Thanks for moving the topic Jonnie, I wasn't sure where this would go, so I figured general discussion would be pretty safe.

@ZombieBear Yeah, its still in very early stages at the moment. Right now I'm trying to get Victors Platform script to work but its pretty vague as to how its set up in some places. Thanks for the feed back!

This is a great Idea. I mean, I don't know how to make platform/puzzle games, but yes. I'm thinking Fez or Limbo. If you put the right thought into the puzzle areas, and make switching between the two a core mechanic, this could be good.

I don't really have input, I'm more of a story guy, but I just wanted to give you some encouragement.
