Crynthus 0 Posted August 21, 2013 Hullo RMVXA Community! I have a question about custom music. Can RPG Maker VX Ace loop .flac files? I have a friend who is composing for my game, and he used .flac files since he could get seamless loops easier; however, when I put them into RPG Maker VX Ace, the music doesn't loop, it just ends. Is there a way to use the files so they do loop? or does he have to create them as .ogg files? Also, yes he did use the Meta Data and follow the steps to create the loops, the same way you would for a .ogg file. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thank you! Rave 14 Posted August 21, 2013 OGG files loops just as seamlessly as flac files, tell this to your friend. Only known to me format which has problems with seamless loops is MP3. Going back to your issue, possible causes and solutions: - Maybe he did set loops wrongly (start loop longer than actual loop?)?. This is best case scenario as all is needed is to change metadata. - Maybe it was editor's fault (e.g. it doesn't save FLAC metadata properly)? In this case you'd just need to get some FLAC metadata editor and set metadata. - Worst case scenario: Bug in VX that causes this to happen. In this case, nothing short of custom Audio script would help.
Crynthus 0 Posted August 21, 2013 Alright thanks! I'll let you know what I find out.
Crynthus 0 Posted August 23, 2013 The problem with the .ogg file is that with the one specific track he wrote, when he compresses it, the song becomes slightly detuned and it creates volume distortion. Is RPG Maker VX ACE not compatible with metadata from other formats? If not, which other one formats does it support? And if so, is there anything I can do to make other file types work in RPG Maker VX Ace? Thank you for any help you provide!
Rave 14 Posted August 25, 2013 Which program does he use to convert stuff? Audacity is good at it. You know what, send me via PM offending track and I'll convert it for you, free of charge.
Crynthus 0 Posted August 29, 2013 Sorry I haven't replied recently. School starting and what not. But actually he is using audacity; however, I have been able to determine that although it isn't perfect (cause truly, nothing is), it is good enough. The changes were too small for me to hear (like slight changes in pitch or volume), and probably not large enough for anyone but a trained ear to hear. Since my friend is the most talented musician I know, he could hear the slight changes and they really bothered him, but he made a version that he has called good enough. Really though, thank you for your offer! I appreciate all of your help and understanding! I'm so glad this is such a helpful community. Thanks so much! -Crynthus Oh and also, RPG Maker VX Ace does not support .flac files, which I found here in case anyone else wants to know:http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/products/rpg-maker-vx-ace/material and it's under "Formats available to Import"
