[Request] RPG Maker XP style Battle System.

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I'm using centered text, deal with it.

So I've been playing this game called the Last Scenario, and nevermind what it's about.

The Battle System really amazes me. The game is made by 1 guy in 1 year, the dutch artist SCF.

Take a look:

Also, the game has a strange concept of equiping skills. There, they're called Spellcards, and can be equipped to any character, as long as he has an open slot. Every Spellcard has a Crisis power, which is normally stronger than the non-crisis one.

Example of a poisoned character:

The characters are still, not animated.

Crisis: When you take an amount of damage, it fills up. When it's full, you can use a Crisis Skill(which is stronger than the normal one.)

Auto: Every character does a physical attack.

Fight: You can choose if you attack, defend, use a skill, or use an item.

Example of fallen character:

It's pretty basic, it's almost like the vanilla one, but it has a special charm and I'm really interested if I can get it for Ace.

Thanks for reading this. ^^

You're gonna need to provide more than a picture. Do you have a link to a download of the game or the scripts used in it, so we can take a look at the coding for the battle system?

I'm not sure what makes it "RPG Maker XP style"

Ace or VX is not much different from XP.

You can download it from site.scfworks.com.

Or just click here: Clicky.

I don't see what more you could need. I'm no expert but it's just a render above the HP/MP.

A lot of questions are made from that picture and little to no answers exist in your post. all we see is a still frame. are any battlers animated? Do they change at all when attacked or attacking or buffed or casting or effected by status ailments? Where do status ailments display at? What does the word 'crisis' mean under their mp? How does the 'auto' option work? does everyone have to select escape in order to successfully run away, or just one person? How do the item or spell windows look? What happens when you select fight? how are turns handled? How does the targeting system work? Is there a help bar? What happens when a party member dies? the list goes on... even if the rest of the menu is 'vanilla', which engine is it like? Because you talked about XP but also referred to Ace, so....

help us help you.

Honestly, all I think you'd need is a script that'd show images from another folder on the battlefield corresponding to your chosen actors' ID at a specific X/Y coordinate, assuming there's no difference between this and the DBS besides aesthetics. I'm not a scripter myself so I don't know exactly how to do it, but it doesn't seem especially complicated. You could also perhaps have the characters' positions depend on how many party members there are, if the scripter is willing to make things slightly more complicated. As for monster placement, you could do that yourself easily.

If that mattered to me, I would add it. All I'm asking is a script that displays the characters like that.

I'll add extra info though.

The fact that you were just looking to have the characters displayed like that was never mentioned before, thus the confusion. i mean, if party battler placement mattered to you, shouldn't you have added it originally? ;)

So these are not part of the request? What are you requesting then?

Cause I came in here thinking you want a complete battle system with all these features that you provided very little information about.

I was providing info about the system itself. It works like that.

People asked me about info, so I gave more info. Whadd'aya want from me?

It's unclear whether you want that battle system (in which case yes you need to provide more details on how it works), or specific parts of the battle system (which ones? Details), or something else.

You don't seem to want the battle system itself.

You can use Victor Engine Actor Battlers to show the battlers in the way you are requesting. Additionally, you can use Victor Engine Loop Animation to show status conditions on the battlers. Any other features you might want from there would require other scripts.
