OneCutStudio 353 Posted October 23, 2013 Hey Everyone, I post a lot in the Resource forums, but it is the first time I am visiting this one actually. I figured that I should share with you all some of my art besides what I make for RMVXAce resources. With that said, the piece exhibited on this thread is a design I made for a t-shirt contest. I have made several t-shirt designs, but this is the first one I put into a competition. Needless to say, I didn't win. It doesn't bum me out because the finalists had some really awesome designs too. The design was based off of the entry theme "Bad-@$$ Bear." Please comment and let me know what you think. Thanks, -One Cut Studio
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted October 25, 2013 I think that the idea itself of the T-shirt design is...really cool. Though I don't understand why the chemical/periodic table references were used? Was it just for originality? :3 The bear just threw me off, though. I understand that T-shirts usually just don't handle gradients well, but the sharp shading twitched me a little bit. Was it just for originality? :3 The bear just threw me off, though. I understand that T-shirts usually just don't handle gradients well, but the sharp shading twitched me a little bit. The theme was "Bad @$$ Bear." My design is a parody of the recently ended show "Breaking Bad." The entire title on the tee-shirts mimics the design from the television show. Silk-screened t-shirts don't handle gradients well, that is true...I believe that heat transferred designs can pull them off better. By the sharp shading, I can see why it would make you twitch. Yes it doesn't blend neatly. I posterized the heck out of that image...it was just a design choice I made to make it look rough. I am critical of my work and what I dislike about it the most is that my lines could have been a lot cleaner. If you look closely you can see many artifacts hanging around the edges. I believe two Breaking Bad designs made it to the finals, but ultimately a mutli-colored roaring grizzly-bear won. Thanks for your input.
