Harmp's Paralaxed Forest'nCave

Recommended Posts

The 2 top pictures are 'print screens' from my gimp windows
and the bottom 2 are ingame views.

It's still a work in progress, I'm just looking for some feedback.

Without giving away too much I'll try to explain these shots:

My game starts on the beach to the south, where you ended up shipwrecked
You move into the forest to find food and a shelter to sleep,
After walking through the forest for a bit, you find the cave and there you set up camp for a night.

(the main character has a tent in his backpack (which doesn't show) if you were wondering where he got that.)

Let me know what you guys think.
Mucho amore
Harmp.

Edit:

Since I've got my HUD working
It seems a completely different game
Here's a link to a screenie to see how it looks.

Tell me what you think!
(thanks to Galv's Exploration HUD (with my edits))

Thanks for the feedback :)
If you mean the 3tile high rocks (1 on the left, 2 on the right side of the screen)
then yeah, they are supposed to be stair-like-rocks in the mountainside
But there's nothing in the middle to climb on.

I would say a couple of the trees in game are a little too bright but otherwise it looks really good! Keep it up!

Thanks raindeerman ;]
And I do agree with you, I just haven't figured out quite why it makes em so bright.
When I'm working on it in Gimp they show up darker (as you can see in the screenie)
But as soon as I open it up in RVXA, they turn bright as day.
I'll be sure to get this fixed.
Thanks for the feedback!

Wow, those look really nice!

The only thing I really want to point out is the tent

If you're able to go into it, it's a few pixels too far right, and it would probably look weird walking into it

If it's just for show, it's fine :D

The tent is just for the show, When you light the fire, there's a fadeout and then a fadein with the fire burning and the tent in place.

Then when you "talk" to the tent, or walk up to it and press the action button, it asks you if you want to sleep.

When you press yes, it will fade out with the character still in front of the tent, and fade back with him still there.

It isn't the prettiest way to do this, but it's a small scene and not that important.

ps. I think the pixels being off is due to the Pixel Movement script, and not so much the placement of the tent.
