Tsarmina 2,612 Posted January 2, 2014 I feel the default screen is often overused, sadly. Even a small edit to it would be noticeable/different/helpful/unique/what's-the-word. For one of my games, you play as royalty, so I used a beautiful curlicue gold-fringed scarlet windowskin. There are lots of them out there, perhaps Sergeant Google can help you with this one ^-^
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted January 2, 2014 I changed the skins. I'll also search for some script to allow the player to choose the skins, if possible. Unfortunatelly, it seems I can't post any more pictures in this thread Either way, thank you very much!
Wren 179 Posted January 9, 2014 You can link to images hosted on another website, such as photobucket or imgur or something. You take the pictures, upload to the sites, get the direct links, then use the image button on the post editor and drop the link inside and bammo, more pictures. + Sughayyer 163 Posted January 10, 2014 Hmm, what do you think of that one: I originally intended to do a parchment-style, but it became a mess due to the white font color.
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted January 10, 2014 I used this one for some times, it works pretty well. (Once again I forget who it's from T_T)
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted January 10, 2014 OOOOOO can I use it? But I'll change the window frame.
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted January 10, 2014 I guess you can. It's not mine or anything. If whoever made this has any objections, I'm sure you can find a way to get them to know that you're editing it.
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted January 11, 2014 How about that windowskin? It's a modified version of the one Tsarmina just posted!
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted January 18, 2014 I have been thinking (until I get my FMV functions working right it's probably the only thing I'll be doing for now) about a mechanic I'm not sure I should implement: ammo system. There are two characters who use projectile/ranged weapons. Combat is an important part of the game, but it can often be avoided. So I don't know if it's worth to add a new system that may end up being only an annoyance for the player - or totally overlooked. What do you say?
+ Omega Zero 48 Posted January 18, 2014 Why not see what everyone thinks by way of a separate demo with the ammo mechanic included, in addition to your regular demo? That'd be a good way to figure it out.
TheHarmp 155 Posted January 18, 2014 Why not see what everyone thinks by way of a separate demo with the ammo mechanic included, in addition to your regular demo? That'd be a good way to figure it out. Or a hell of a lot of work for something you might not use after all. I personally am not bothered by characters using bows or guns without running out of ammo. Wren 179 Posted January 23, 2014 lecode finally did get the choice of munitions script bug free and working, so you have an option if you want to use an ammo script. You could even tie your abilities to using different ammo types, so to use fire arrow you actually have to have some fire arrows... Also, I don't know why, but I do like the blue windows more than the brown parchment. Maybe I'd feel different if I was actually playing. I guess it depends on the rest of the game's style and aesthetics.
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) Thanks to estriole I now have FMV's in the game. For now there's only one an opening scene, but If I can get enough help I can make more I'll try lecode's ammo script, and I hope it doesn't conflict with the chained combo scripts or other battle scripts I'm using. I'm also searching for a way to change the menu background and it's RGB values in-game... I think Yanfly has something that does it. Right now I'm stuck at this: http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/topic/21467-how-much-is-too-much/ that means, I'm now able to add pretty much anything I want in the game, but when to stop adding functionalities to actually begin inserting the story in the game? EDIT: I tried lecode's awesome ammo script. Unfortunately, I'm using so many battle scripts at once that an incompatibility seems to be happening... I guess the ammo idea will have to be used in another game, until I find out how to circunvent this. Edited January 25, 2014 by Sughayyer
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted February 13, 2014 Okay, I've been away because I was secretly working on battler sprites for my game I'd like to list the functionalities I added so far: * Visual battlers, Holder-style * Class selection and skill learning system * Customizable equipment * Accessible difficulty curve (smart stat-defining) * Day and night * A lot more...... ..... because of that, I'm thinking about launching a "teaser" (too short to be called a demo) so everyone can get the feel of the game, try out the mechanics, etc. I'll start working on it tomorrow. It's been around a year since I started developing this game (from the very early stage) and there are so many functionalities that I must STOP and actually start developing the story within the game. I'd like to know from any moderators if it's ok to post this small teaser here, instead of the gaming lounge (since it's not properly a demo),
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted February 14, 2014 :x Is the teaser playable? Or just a video?
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted February 14, 2014 It is playable. It is a brief story of how Joshua met Dolores and his first mission under Emperor Eglom, that means, a few months before the actual game. This will feature Agronopolus as a playable character as well!! This must be playable, otherwise the game's features wouldn't be noticeable.
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted February 14, 2014 I think it'd be okay, but I'll check.
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Thanks!! By the way, I made the 666th post! MWAHAHAHA edit: view. I meant 666th view... Edited February 15, 2014 by Sughayyer
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted February 15, 2014 A-okay, go ahead and post the teaser.
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted February 15, 2014 XD XD XD XD XD Great! Thanks! It'll take a few more days to be finished. I hope you guys and girls like it!
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted February 19, 2014 Just an update, the teaser for the game is around 30% done. It happens a few months before the game and shows a lot of info that is only implicit in the actual game.
Wren 179 Posted February 19, 2014 So this is sort of a prologue that introduces us to the universe and sets the stage for the game.
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted February 19, 2014 Basically it's like when you order a buffet service and they send you a slice of cake and canapès (no idea if this word exists in English, but it is edible, haha) for approval. It is a prologue but the game works very well without it, it just adds flavour to the whole experience.
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted March 1, 2014 Hello again! After a long time away (working and training a lot...) I finally managed to finish the teaser. the download link is on the first post, but I also added one here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/bpw0y1nokgsjkjs/Lilium%20Cruentus.exe This is not a demo, it is just a small teaser. It happens before the game's timeline. There may be a few grammar mistakes, the dificulty is really easy, but the main point here is to analyze the mechanics and the style of play (and why not, writing?). So, I hope you guys and girls can give me some feedback! Thanks!!!
