+ Sughayyer 163 Posted December 13, 2013 (edited) TA-DA! My first title screen. I actually wanted to draw it, but I simply can't. So I used pictures and effects to achieve this... I don't know if it's usable or not, of if the choice of effects was good. Aside from the font, I wanted everything to look like a painting on canvas... EDIT: After taking your advises, I came up with these: Edited December 20, 2013 by Sughayyer
Cecillia 652 Posted December 13, 2013 Looks good for your first title screen. I'd try to blur out the edges of the book with an anti-alias tool because the pixel edges sort of set off the ambiance you are aiming for.
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted December 13, 2013 Thanks! I'll try this.
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted December 13, 2013 To be honest, if you really want a painted look, there are two very easy ways to do this, but both require software ^-^ 'Cause right now the picture looks a little bit more like a blurry photo... If you have Corel, go into Photo Painting and choose Fine Camel (works really nicely for paints), then upload the picture and start it XD It's really easy that way. If you don't have Corel, you can still work with Microsoft Powerpoint--select the picture, go to Format, and choose, under Artistic Effects, the "Paint Brush" option. (Or you can use Paint Strokes.) I think only Powerpoint vers. 2007-10 have this. :
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted December 13, 2013 Thanks for all these tips! I'll be a tad busy 'till monday but I'll try it all!
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted December 13, 2013 I understand ^-^ (And check the lab--hint, hint)
+ Titanhex 284 Posted December 14, 2013 Illustration programs like SAI and Illustrator and Corel can be very useful for creating image outlines. If you trace the picture to make an outline and then just color it in you can create something that looks much more suited for RPG Maker style games.
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted December 14, 2013 To add on to Titanhex, Photoshop is (in my opinion) the best ^-^ Though SAI is really great too! Corel pales a little when it comes to strict outlines, I think.
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted December 20, 2013 Hi everyone! After hearing your advises, I came up with three new versions. They're in the OP now. Once again, thanks for the wisdom shared.
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted December 20, 2013 I like the yellowish one :3 Though the surrounding blurs of purple and red "water stains" (they look like water stains to me =.=") are a little off-putting.
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted December 20, 2013 It was meant to be a painting on a leather canvas. My favourite was the paper one, though I'm not sure if the monochrome picture with the black and red title would be acceptable. I can take the swirl away, too. Tsarmina 2,612 Posted December 21, 2013 Leather, huh. I liked the paper one too, but the achromatic color scheme might make the title screen sort of blown off by some people who expect title screens to be...well...uh...flashy? Well, that's not true at all...I just feel that for the mood of the game, the paper may not be the best choice.
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted December 22, 2013 Hmm, I get it. I'll keep on working on it.
