so before i try my hand on shopkeep kind of game thats like Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

 

is there anything i need to know to get started on one? because i have no idea how to set up items on a shelf to display

I had no idea what that game is but I made a quick research (I just looked for images of the shop) on it anyway.

 

Does the shop system work like Harvest Moon: Back to Nature where you can lift the object then bring it to the counter or you just need to interact with the item and a choice window will pop up?

 

Can you explain the how the game works to make it easier for us to tackle the problem?  Details can help especially when there is enough to even discuss about.

i was thinking of interact with a counter and pop up a menu on what items to put there then set a price thats ether higher or lower then the base price

 

the items i intend to get will be getting from monster drops, fishing, and buying crops from a farmer

 

the dungeons in which you go to to get items and treasures i intend to use a random stock dungeons i make like 50 of then and get 2% chance of going into each of them how would i reset the chest that are in there once the floor has been cleared?

I don't know about the shop counter interaction but you'll probably need a script that lets you materialize an item from the inventory.

 

This script will help you with resetting self switches of chests upon leaving a map.

maybe you can use this for starter.

it create container for your shop. so you can place goods you want to sell.

then you need to create scripts that make event use the graphic of item placed on that container. and create customer that want to buy them. etc.

 

be warned though. this won't be easy. if you're not expert in RPG Maker VX Ace. and cannot script. you might want to postpone this until you gain enough experience.
