mapping One of my first Parallax Mapping

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Today, I need some feedback about one of the first parallax mapping I made (it may look bad, because it's really hard to make this one).

I also need some suggestions to improve it.

To be frank, I'm a little bamboozled by the map. That might very well be the point, but I'm not sure which direction to go, where the movement really is, and what that big bluish wall is. Or maybe it's not supposed to be a wall.

It might be helpful to add a thin layer of "walkway" under the stone tiles so that it looks...well, 3D and not as papery. I'd also soften up those shadows a little bit, and fix some of them. Several of them don't match up--for example, there's a shadow cast on the blue wall by a stretch of walkway, but on the right side of the blue wall the wall appears to be shadowing the walkway. So, what's shadowing what? It's become puzzling to the eye--an unwonted optical illusion, if you will. :)

I don't mean to be harsh, but I'm just a little confused. ^^"

Well, the map IS supposed to confuse the player. There are lots of ways, but only one will take the player to the entrance of Flynt's Palace. And it's really hard to make it look like a walkway is above the other one. Do you have any suggestions to make it really look like it?
