Several Balance Changes Including:

Monsters Health reduced by almost 30%

Damage of enemy burst spells reduced by almost 40%

Monsters drop more gold

Monsters in puzzle areas do not respawn.

Shinyness added to quest objects to make them more obvious.

Extra shop added in Mekana.

 

More content will be added eventually.

10 towns were created by settlers, and on the birth of
these towns, a gift was given by a half godess named
Artess. From Artess, the towns were given an artifact,
each representing that towns role in the greater scheme
of things. Galeh, the capitol of all the ten towns received
a shield, which they thought meant safety and protection.
But when a massive beast named Igara, formerly harmless but
suddenly enraged, rampaged through the town, it was proven
very quickly that the shield was not protecting anyone.
On the day of Galeh’s massacre, the leaders from each town
had gathered there in Galeh. They too died with everyone
else, thus leaving Lord Armstram in charge. It was believed
that Armstram could communicate with the dead, and that
the leaders were instructing Armstram from the grave.
But it has become very clear to Alek and his friends,
that this is not the case. Can our hero’s channel the souls
of Galeh to defeat an evil greater than they have ever known?

That is up to you.

It's VX and i hope that saying that, doesnt get this torn down off the forums :(

 

I appreciate the compliment on my tiles, I actually only use tiles for in door scenes, MOST (not all) of my outdoor scenes are 100% parallaxed and hand drawn on Photoshop. upper layers are then placed overtop using character sheets.

I LOVE this comment. Between today and yesterday Ive spent 9 hours, making a room that will take the character two minutes to walk through... It's all about lasting images man. I cant wait to release this so you get the chance to explore :)

Celianna's Tiles hm? I guess the others were hand drawn as well. Good work there. I think there's an Other Maker Projects forum here... or not. I'm not so sure. I guess it's only in rpgmakervx.net? You might want to check it out.

Anyways have you thought of trying ACE? it has fewer scripts yet, but it has an easier interface as well. Hope somebody makes a MACK Generator for it...

I would love to try ace, to be honest, it's the lack of scripts that keeps me from doing so. Ill wait a little longer, and when im done my game i will probably just start drawing graphics for other peoples games. we'll see what comes.

You may wanna change the way Tristrum looks, I understand the artist that made the portrait did post them openly in my topic, but the sprite is still mine.... so if you have a sprite made based on the portrait, its basically copying my work, in which case I wont be happy about that ahahaha.

The story sounds interesting, although I'm not sure what you're going to do with it. What are the main characters trying to do? What's the point of the game?

 

The mapping is inconstant. Some of it I really like, but a few screen shots seemed out of place or were bland. Notably, the picture along the mountain cliff bled my eyes, and the house with the blue roof seemed way too small compared to the size of everything else in the world. Finally, you're going to have to edit some tiles to make them look better together. The picture with the tree in the center and the large mushroom next to it has some very out of place looking flowers on the cliff. I'm not much of a graphic artist, but I'd say they're too sharp or have too dark of an outline compared to the rest of the tiles. My favorite picture was the second one though, I felt that it looked well designed.

 

I don't like the character graphics. Two of the characters look like they're wearing wigs over their actual hair, since they're completely different colors. Ichor looks like Goku the bandit.

You may wanna change the way Tristrum looks, I understand the artist that made the portrait did post them openly in my topic, but the sprite is still mine.... so if you have a sprite made based on the portrait, its basically copying my work, in which case I wont be happy about that ahahaha.

 

Hmmm I actually found him on google ^^ thought he was enterbrain because it was very much the same art style. Ironically he is the only portrait I didnt edit or create myself that ISNT enterbrain in my game so far. Ill inbox you about this. Thanks for letting me know, No theft intended.

I do sprites, portraits, battlers and rtp, I do graphics for a living. once my game is farther along ill start taking requests! and yes, I will open the shop here :)

hey man I really appreciate the feed back. Part of the issue with the mixed looking images is that I have a true color graphics monitor, and the image im seeing is much sharper then what everyone else is seeing, and i forget that sometimes when im designing. Seeing as how most of my maps are parallax i could definately go back through some and sharpen some lines to make everything fit together a little better. Also, some screen shots are not final, as all my maps and art are subject to change. in regards to the wigs :P I really liked that look, and its too bad you didnt enjoy it as much as i did, sadly, that part of my art wont be changing, my character designs are pretty final. that being said, the ones that are displayed here are not all main characters, they are simply art work that i have finished. with the exception of tristrum who isnt actually my work.

If it makes you feel any better, the different colors are supposed to be died hair, not natural colors or anything. As for the plot of the story and what the characters are working toward... Its so hard for me to discuss without spoiling so much, and thats why my descriptions are soo vague, they were intentionally the bare minimum in order to get this post accepted. I will be releasing a demo VERY shortly and you will get to see so much more :) thanks again for commenting

I really like your mapping that's for sure, as a parallax mapper, your skill is excellent, I hope you could please make tutorials showing me and others how you map, especially exteriors

There is only one thing I would like to complain about your mapping though, that's the lighting, you should tone it down and gives it some color, that will help adding more effects into the atmosphere (For example, in the 3rd screen, you should change the light into a warm and orange-like color, that will make the atmosphere seems more...dramatic itself). And you should also reduce the light's intensity (If you made it in Photoshop then you should try reducing the light's opacity), that's all ^.^

Also, there is another thing: You should try to make your own graphics for the title though, what you are using, is somehow exactly in VS (Hanzo Kimura!!), a little bit of slight edit or maybe just a recoloring should do it well, it's just my opinions ^.^

As for the characters: They are very good, I really like this style of drawings, however, in the 4th screen, the monster seems to blend into the battleback, maybe you should consider adding a shadow for it and a little bit of shading on the outside?

Haha, the intro screen is very similar to hanzo's infact Im using his intro script ;) but the graphics themselves for the logo are 100% original. hold his next to mine and you will see the differences :). Im glad you like my mapping, and your very correct about the lighting. light is never white, and its a habit i need to break. As for the monsters blending into the battle back, I already have added shadows to every battler and darkened outlines. all screen shots here were very early drafts :) I really appreciate your comments!

Hmm, so you're using sprites from Ragnarok Online for your monsters and such? Interesting. I'm curious, what sideview battle system do you use? One you made yourself, or...?

In the final product I will be using ragnorok style battlers yes, but the ones seen are not the final draft. I will be using original battler sprites that i draw myself that simply maintain the ragnarok style. that is the goal anyway, well see how much time i have to redraw things. The battle system itself is a highly customized version of DerVVulfman's animated battlers vx. I hope that intrigues you.

Ahahaha yeah he was made by some random guy nobody ever herd of at that point who did an amazing job, in all there's actually about 30 of them :P but yeah its no big deal, just wanted to give you a heads up.

 

EDIT: I honestly thought nobody would ever use the portrait without the sprite, so i never asked him to PM it.

When you say weapons in the style of rtp, do you mean, graphics for weapons in your inventory? or for finding weapons on the ground, or for battlers? in what way are you looking to use these weapons?

Ahahaha yeah he was made by some random guy nobody ever herd of at that point who did an amazing job, in all there's actually about 30 of them :P but yeah its no big deal, just wanted to give you a heads up.

 

EDIT: I honestly thought nobody would ever use the portrait without the sprite, so i never asked him to PM it.

 

haha yeah in all honesty i just google image searched rpgmaker vx, I was looking for pictures to inspire ideas, and to compare other peoples maps to my own, and then i stumbled accross that portrait and drooled. couldnt find a source, and simply assumed it was enterbrain there for free to use. (assumed it was enterbrain because of the art style)

You might want to request for mods to transfer this to another place. In Other maker games, under Complete Projects or something. Don't worry, even if it's not finished it's okay for you to put it there. Mandatory, even.

I feel that VX and VX Ace are close enough in features that I will leave it hear unless a MOD requests otherwise, unless its bugging YOU that its here... I dont mean to piss anyone off, i just also think nobody minds. If it were xp or 2k3 on the other hand id move it in a heart beat.

I'm going to agree with Matt Beer and may even alter the rules to clarify this. While the site supports VXA, games are a bit of a different matter, and the in-game features between VX and Ace are hard to tell apart (especially when scripts are involved).

 

I think it'll be okay to post VX and Ace games here, and leave the Other Maker thread for everything but these two.

I'm going to agree with Matt Beer and may even alter the rules to clarify this. While the site supports VXA, games are a bit of a different matter, and the in-game features between VX and Ace are hard to tell apart (especially when scripts are involved).

 

I think it'll be okay to post VX and Ace games here, and leave the Other Maker thread for everything but these two.
