haha thanks... Alot of time went into that room, more so on the event scripting then the graphics themselves... but yeah, jumping around on those bad boys is alot of event switches... over 12 switches, and 100 event pages

The fog in the last map is superb, and it's quite impressive the depth it gives your map, as if you are super high off the ground. I'm assuming you had to use a parallax to get the fog just in one area, or did that take extra coding and events to do?

The fog is a combination of, guess what... a fog script who knew, and yes, a parallax map. they then slide over eachother to create a really beautiful effect. you should see it in motion.

I wondered if it was a fog script but then doubted myself because of how it was tailored to just one end of the map. It does have a nice effect, though.

like I said, Demo soon, and a still image really doesnt do it justice! I would really appreciate it if you gave the game a play once its up! I value your opinion after reading your posts around the site!

im not getting that error, but whenever i try to extract it the extraction process becomes non-responsive

No problem man, I was just looking forward to it!! Downloading again.

 

Edit: @Bravo2Kilo try downloading from winrar instead of double clicking. I had the same problem but this fixed it.

 

Edit 2: Played and enjoyed. The puzzle on the left side took me ages to work out but once I got the rythym it was easy ( great work on that).

 

A few things which you may or may not know, you have a few spelling and gramatical errors. Also when tinting screen tint it before you bring the scene up (in my opinion) also there is a blank skill when you are fight which you can use but does nothing. You call the swords keyblades but vance calls them key swords (is that an error?) also in the room with the puzzle in which you have to action the swords on the wall there is a box which is on the ground but you can walk under it.

 

They may known or may not be I hope this helps.

Finally, I really liked the mapping especially outside the shrine it was amazing!

hey bud, thanks for being so hastey in downloading and trying! that was awesome!

for the things you mentioned:

 

1.spelling mistakes are a given and will exist until the game itself is finished... at that point i will have it proof read.

2.vance calling them key swords vs keyblades was not intentional, but it works because vance is just like that, indicated by the sentence "i dunno, i wasn't really paying attention" I think you know the sentence i mean

3.on a scale of 1-10 how annoying is the screen tinting post transfer? can i leave it as is? just because it works really smoothly with the way i do my events. it just ensures the area always tints properly. get back to me on that!

4.I had no idea about the mysterious hover box O.o Thanks for letting me know, ill look into that!

 

finally, thanks for the comment on my mapping, I promise it will only get better!! how were my choices in music? and how do you feel about the characters so far? does anything annoy you as of yet? let me know!!! thanks

1. I though thats what you would do, I just thought I would point it out.

2. That actually makes a lot of sense!

3. On a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being least annoying 10 being most annoying) I'd say about a 2. Fair enough.

4. Haha I walked under it and was like omg don't fall on me ahhaha.

 

Music worked quite well for me.

My favourite character so far is Vance! And I love the friendly conflict between Mr Mako and Alek.

 

Great job so far I look forwward to keeping an eye on this page as your game progresses.

Congrats on making me post in the development sub-forum for once.

 

Looks great. Love the battle system with the large sprites (I'm tired of that chibi shit). Maps are pretty damn awesome. They aren't incredible but they definetely execute the mood perfectly, one of the best ways I've seen.

 

My only beef is the the MC's hair is uh...a little but too colorful. It's radiance blinds me, Maybe make it just a tint darker >_>

haha thanks for the comment I'm glad I could draw you in funny that your beef is with the mc's hair considering the profile picture your using lmao! but yeah, im glad you like the maps, Ive been putting my heart into them and you can bet that they are only going to get better the more practice i get. each one benefiting from the previous ones experience. Have you tried the demo? Id be curious to see what you think!

Just as I had expected, your mapping is very good, the way you put your stuff and leaving out spaces is excellent, the atmosphere is well done too, except for one thing lol, you haven't yet fixed the light though, it's still intense and sometimes I can't see my character 0.0, and sometimes, the shadow you put is kinda annoying too, but in overall, they looks good together

And yea, there are lots of grammar mistake ^.^ I hope you'll fix them soon 0.0

I really like this project Matt, hope you'll be able to complete it soon ^.^

 

P/S:Sorry for late comment though, I downloaded it yesterday but didn't have much time since then ^.^

haha I know I havnt fixed the light yet because the demo was done already when you mentioned the light problems and yeah grammer mistakes are going to be there until the game is done. once it's finished I will have it proof read! Thanks for trying it out! I'm extremely glad you enjoyed it!

I sent you a private message as to how to resolve the issue. for a more permanent fix I will be altering the download so people dont run into problems in the future. If my solution doesnt work for you, please redownload!

I wouldn't mind, except it tells me that I have to sign up and every time I tried I got a mass amount of popups. If you would please upload your demo somewhere more reliable or a site that doesn't require sign up, that would be wonderful.

I haven't played the demo yet, but I want to say that your mapping skills are first-class. I stick to more simple mapping because I'm just not very good at the whole paralaxing thing, but you handle it like a pro. *Very* intriguing screenshots and the premise itself sounds like it has a lot of promise. I'll definitely be checking out the demo when I get a spare moment.

The reason you received those popups is because there are two download buttons... one which is the real one, and one which is an add. Those "download" add buttons are all over the internet right now and they are a total pain in the ass! Im sorry I confused you! That being said, You aren't the first person to be confused. Im uploading a new file, to a new location to hopefully simplify things.
