When you release your next Demo, make sure to inform me alright? It seems you are progressing faster than I am with my project lol

siiick, I'm excited to hear what you think cap'n. Seeing as you missed out on the first demo, your first impression will be cool to read. I think im more excited to release the demo then the people who play it are :D

 

haha 藤原å¥å¤ª my first topic was all a picture too. Just not as much time went into the first one. Believe me when i say my project is not moving quickly. every battle sprite takes me about 4-8 hours to make -.- It's gruuling. every main hero i add is about 12 hours of graphics work and another 2 of stats, items and skills. <sigh> but its sooo worth it!

Major update to the battle system. There is now a timed buttom system. Hit the correct timing and gain an extra melee attack. each success will make the timing faster, making each success more difficult. Hitting these timings will be crucial to defeating some foes.

That actually may help the overall feel of the battle, as it gives a bit of incentive to timed attacks.

as i balance test the battles, Ive noticed that it makes you gamble between using a spell to guarantee some damage, or trusting your timing skills to get you some huge combos.

One thing that catches my eye with your battles is the sliding of their feet in their idle animation. It seems to me like they should be the anchor to the ground and not moving.

Still look VERY cool, though and looking forward to playtesting.

It's true, Ive put some serious time and effort into this thing, and its really starting to move forward. I cant wait to flash off the next demo.

Added Scan function in battle to give data about enemies. Added enemy health bars and sates which didnt previously exist. redesigned window skin and changed game font. Removed sprite shadow script - to be replaced with manually drawn shadows on sprites. this decision was made due to shadow overlap of tileset A walls that were meant to be below the character.

Added relationship system - not in a gay dating sim kind of way, but in the, befriending one person can make someone else hate you, opening and closing quest possibilities kind of way.

 

Added Rare monster system - similar to The Last Remnant, in which your character

mediafire wouldnt let me upload a file that big, so i had to use 4chan. You could choose to register, or deal with the complications of me uploading it in multiple files and you having to piece it together... If you know of a place that will allow larger uploads by all means let me know.

This is actually really good. I like the Legend of Dragoon ish battle system and the mapping is top notch. Its already pretty damn melodramatic though lol.

Ameera I think is her name crying in the first two minutes of the game was jarring a bit haha. I did do the minigame it took a couple tries, maybe shorten it a bit? Are you using Mogs battle hud by chance since I see you using some of their other scripts?

 

I'm really trying to get my demo done and this is pretty good inspiration honestly.

I love the combo chain in the battle system! I don't feel to threatened in battle now, even though I'm not great at hitting combos haha. Everything currently flows a lot better than the beta, there are a few glitches/bugs I've noticed so far but I will go back through once I'm done record them and PM them to you. Anyway everything looks good so far, I'ma head back and keep playing :P

 

Ohhhhhh and the door with the epic combination lock!!

 

 

OMG I JUST GOT A 7 HIT COMBO!!!!

As for my battle system, only the chain function was scripted by mog. The rest is not mog related at all. Mog did my menu's though.

Were these just requests to him? HIs work is really good I would not mind getting some help on the menu front from him. Also finished the demo, which is a first concerning rpg maker games honestly. It was really well done and even when I lost a couple times against the golems I continued to see what would happen. That is a pretty big stamp of approval from me. Good work and I'll definetly keep up with this project.

@His work really is amazing. The menu I used was actually a menu he had already made and just posted some where. The version of it that you saw in my game was edited by me to be better laid out. one example of that is the item menu. His version didnt work properly for some reason... items were drifting out of place and things like that, so I had to re write it a little bit. Other then that, they are beautiful. He doesn't speak english though, so good luck trying to get him to collaborate. :P I'm pretty sure hes Brazilian.

 

@ as odd as this souds, I was trying to make the main character one of the least entertaining characters, because noone is interested in themselves... and I technically, you ARE alek, the world around you is whats awesome.

but yeah, I hope to have many more characters that you can fall in love with :P p.s. What did you think of the save/load screen and the battle result window? the battle result window took FOREVER to get working right... soooo many common events.
