After the event outside the shrine with Vance (before the Tamogrin Woods) the game crashes on my Windows 7. 

 

I have tried on my Windows Xp and works until I open a chest in Tamogrin Woods, then crashes again.

 

Am I the only one?

I have had several people not only play the game through, but make videos of themselves play through, and no one has experienced the same crash... That is very bizarre.  If you want me to help you, I will need the error message that you received when the game crashed.  Without it I have nothing to go on.  If you are not receiving a crash message, then it is very very much a problem with your computer.    I hope we can resolve this issue for you.

Thanks I'll be more precise: on my WIndows 7, the PC where I always play a ton of rpgmaker games (off all versions) without problems, the game freezes after the event in a black screen (no error message). For this reason I really don't think it's a problem with my computer

In my old XP service pack 2 crashes opening a chest with the following message: Script "Window_Base" line 45: RGSSError occurred. failed to create bitmap. This PC can have problems though.

 

I have tried the same files on my home computer, a XP service pack 3, and all works perfectly.

 

Maybe it is a SO problem?

Well as of replying to you right now, One other person has experienced the freeze, I'm waiting to hear back from them to see what their specifics are.  Windows XP definately struggles with RPG Maker VX games, thats no secret.  And actually with regards to opening chests, the crash can happen almost any time rpgmaker runs any custom code...  There have been others who try to fix this, but have had little or no success, I actually have a script in Alter Legend that fixes most XP crashes, but I clearly didn't catch all of them.  I'm currently looking into what causes the freeze outside the shrine.  This is going to be tricky as MOST people arn't experiencing it, including myself, and its happening in the middle of an auto run event that seems to have nothing wrong with it, so I'm unclear what happens in your case.  I'll let you know what I figure something out!  Cross your fingers!

Is there a chance that you have adobe photoshop elements, or adobe elements organizer installed on your computer?  Because we tracked the bug down on one players computer to be caused by adobe elements organizer.  She un installed that from her computer and all of a sudden the game worked fine.

I was wondering, does the updated version work with old saves?

 

If there's anything that I can do to make playing as Vance through the part of the game I'm on less frustrating, I shall do it. Because I hate Vance, I hate him with a passion.

Hmm, I too run windows 7 64 bit.  and it runs fine on my system, if your operating system is not a legal copy, that may play a part.  But I wont ask you to specify that.  4 gigs of ram and your processor should be enough to handle my game.  maybe try launching the program as administrator.  I've looked in the eventing, and there is nothing that would cause a hang in that scene.  And only one other person has experienced this hang, and they fixed it by removing software that was conflicting with the running ruby script.  Maybe try closing any background programs in your tool tray before running the game.  ...Honestly I'm shooting in the dark here though and your guess is as good as mine

The you can move your old save to the new game and it will work, you have to take the image file that comes with the save too though, otherwise it will crash.

 

All balance changes to creatures and money and quests will carry over, however I made vance learn a frost spell at an earlier level in the new patch, loading a saved game will not allow you to see this change as character data is stored upon a new game.

I downloaded it on the 18th which is now 2 days ago so I think I have the patched version you speak of.

I have to say it's a well made game,if you sold I'm sure I'd buy it

Well Galv, the moderator who keeps telling me to shut up ^^ him and I are working on a commercial project.  It will be much more polished and hopefully even prettier then Alter Legend.  I guarantee it will be more fun!  But its a secret for now!

I like this game very much just had few comments

-the game crashes after vance takes the stone for me why is that?

-the soundtracks u use are really awsome but some of them are really early for the stage i mean these ccan be used by the end of the game or something

-im trying to use vx ace how did u make your characters that tall because they seem alot shorter when I create them

In regards to the crash, what are your computer hardware specs?

 

in regards to the music, I was just having fun, Alter Legend was a practice project for me to learn rpg maker with

 

in regards to the tall characters, they are cusom sprites that do not come with ACE or VX and a lot of my sprites I made myself, like the main character for example.
