The amount of resources you get to use for actor creation for one. I also think there is a map limit of ten. I may be wrong on that last bit.

Um, I don't know much about LITE, other then it is a horribly limited version of Ace that is not worth the time of day compared to Ace.

Hm. Odd. I just saw it for download on the site and was curious. Can a save from lite be used on the full version/ vice versa?

You can make your game in lite first and if you are able to buy the full version later, you can continue from there.

Limited number of events also you can't edit scripts easily.

Also lots of default resources are not included so it can crash unless you tell the game not to load stuff.

Yes, a save from Lite can be transferred :) I did it once. There are a lot of limitations--10 events per map, limited items, common events, skills, actors, etc. No script editor, which is really limiting. XD

Which brings it to the question: What's the sense of making it if there's so many limitations? Its name Lite doesn't suit it, lol. Its like making a very powerful sword yet it has no hand guard, one edged sword and a reverse handle :P

it's free, so it gives people a taste of RPGMaker's power, and encourages them to buy it

I think I know what you are trying 'not' to say.. My friend did me a 'favor' the other day and now everything is in Japanese. I had two weeks left on my trial period. Sigh. I was gonna buy the full version when I got my tax return. Now I'm gonna have to move my schedule up.

I have to stop letting people 'help' me.. Sigh.

That's not what people were trying to say. In fact I think mentioning that is against the rules, I would change your post, and buy the full game when you have the money.

I'm not gonna change my post, I don't think i should get in trouble for mentioning something someone else did. I was gonna buy the full version before the trial expired anyway. Now im worried about doing any more work on my project cause I'm worried people will be able to tell it was made with a cracked version and I'll get in trouble. People who hack ruin it for the rest of us.

I wasn't saying you should change it because you did it. I was saying change it because you pretty much told us you were using a cracked version of Ace. And that's probably against forum rules to talk about or use in the first place. I don't know what the consequences would be, I was just trying to help you out. But whatever.

Edit: lol is your friends name uTorrent?

Well, I'm NOT using a cracked version. I'm quite against that sort of behavior.

And no. His name is Jonathan. And he's in the hospital for being sick. So, karma.

Anyways, I don't think Lite is gonna fulfill my needs.. So I guess I have to wait til I get my tax refund to buy the full version.

"So, karma" ? You tend to assume a lot. I never said anything bad about your friend, I made a joke that questioned his existence.

To stay with the topic, I really suggest you try the full version instead. Yes, you can make a game with RPG Maker Lite, however, with its at least 89% limitations over the full version, making a decent game would be hard.

Calm down, guys. *pats air*

I seem to remember that PrinPrin was made in Lite? Is that true, or is my memory faulty...? ^^" And it was a great game anyhow, just took a LOT of work from what I could tell from Archeia's screenshots of the events.

PrinPrin was made with the JAPANESE trial which is a lot more limiting than RPG Maker VXAce Lite. (You can't save for one ahaha D:)

@Archeia: Oh gee. ^^"

@Chris: For the Japanese trial, apparently. I had Ace Lite (English) once--well I still do--and it's limiting, but not as limiting as the Japanese one apparently. :)

Good thing there's no RPG Maker VX Ace Postality Knights Edition, lol.

Another thing to probably mention is the fact that with the Lite version you do not get the license for all the in built graphics or anything with the Maker itself so if you were looking to sell the game you made you wouldn't be able to as you don't have the license to do this at all. Just buy the full version, lite is only a little tester to encourage you to buy. I skipped the whole Lite and just bought the engine cause I've used so many others in the past and loved the way they handled and felt like one of the best engines I've ever used for RPG Maker games.

Okay, so this whole topic is kinda blowing my mind. So, what the heck is the point of Lite? Is it basically just a shoddy infinite demo? 'cuz that's what it sounds like.
