Say41Plz 0 Posted March 3, 2014 Hello there. Recently, I got my scripts data corrupted due to some unfortunate events. While I could easily get the scripts I had in my project from the respective authors, I did some editing to the scripts I'd prefer not to do again (mostly because I don't anything about programming, I just imitated what I saw in the scripts), so I was wondering if is there a way to open the scripts.rvdata2 using notepad or something to just copy the data. Thanks in advance
TheHarmp 155 Posted March 3, 2014 I'm not sure, like.. at all, but I think you can copy the scripts.rvdata2-file to a fresh project and open it in that one.I'd have to try it out, cause it might come in handy when I mess my stuff up. (again)
kayden997 84 Posted March 3, 2014 Usually corrupt data is forever corrupt. You should consider making regular backup (just copy-paste the data folder inside your project) as this has happened ever so often with most RPG Makers. Sorry about that
Tsukihime 1,489 Posted March 3, 2014 You should open it in a hex editor to verify that it still has data.
Say41Plz 0 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) I think it won't be necessary. I just opened using notepad and it's nothing more than a 500 kB blank file. Even normal scripts files have some illegible characters which I suppose is encrypted data. I remember this happened to me with a text file not so long ago, and somehow I got the data back, but I don't remember very well how. I'm not even sure if that actually happened. Oh well, thanks anyways. Edited March 4, 2014 by Say41Plz
Tsukihime 1,489 Posted March 4, 2014 There is no encryption. They are all binary serialized data. If it's blank, then it's corrupt. If it's not blank, then it should be fine.
Say41Plz 0 Posted March 4, 2014 Well, it is blank, so I guess I'll have to edit again x). Thanks anyways. "Question", eh, solved?
