Unfortunately your friends always hang out at night, and you lose out on your social life; your inability to do overtime annoys your boss and you never get promoted, and most shops eventually decide to open at night to cater to more nocturnal populations. Even worse, they lobby for those people to help people named Maliki achieve greatness thru their RPGs without rest. And since the subject was so niche, they got laws passed within days. First comes the zoning requirement forms in triplicate to your town council to approve of a garage large enough to store your mecha. Following which comes a release form indicating that any and all damages sustained to your body while in said mecha are not of the retailer's responsibility, and you hereby adhere to all civil rights while piloting the mecha. Then, a series of rigorous tests in the wilderness to ensure that you can pilot your mecha effectively without risk to the surroundings or yourself, taking about six months to a year, and a license to be filled up and registered. You then have to reapply for the firearms and equipment on your mecha, and the licensing for those takes another two years. By the time your mecha is fully operational, it is in disrepair, and you have to commission mechanics from CERN to fix it up. Total cost: $32,500,000. You end up mortgaging your home, which is not bad for getting a sweet mecha... oh, and your license got revoked since the authorities haven't yet come up with a classification of a vehicle of those specifications.
