MaxYidown 2 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) DIGIMON ACE You turn on your PC and for no reason, a Digimon appears in your screen. You can give it food, train it, make them learn an evolution, play games, etc. You can put your digimon on the net and make quests that people send to your e-mail. By killing other digimons in the net you can scan their data (as in digimon world ds) and make a digi-egg. Raise up to 50 diferent species. There`s thousands of evolutions for each digimon, and thousands of items to make this posible. ABS for the battles and items that gives you power (digimon cards, disks, cores, etc) The evolutions are lerned on the PC (the PC is like the farm), the way to learn them is the next: - By gaining experience on the battles of quest or in the RTS Game and leveling up- By evolution items (i.e. Biyomon evolves into Airdramon with the "Air Skull")- By DNA (i.e. Ex-Veemon DNA evolves into Paildramon with the data of Stingmon)In quests they can evolve to the next form, by using the digimon cards (i.e. Renamon is fighting, and the player uses the card S-Evolution, Renamon instantly evolves to Kyubimon) But what`s the new feature that no digimon game has ever had? RTS (Real Time Strategy) Sometimes the quest requires you to go to the digital world. For this, you will team up 5 of your digimons, and put them on the battle, where you have to defend your core spires, defend your self from the digimon enemies, and destroy the control spires of the enmies. When you destroy all five control spires, you win the game. If one of your digimon dies on the battle field, it will respawn on the starting point, as same as the enemies. But if all your core spires are destroyed, your team loose. In battle you can use your battle cards and any item you have in your inventory, except for the ones that make you evolve on battle, because of the enemies control spires. There are 3 roads where your spires and enemies spires are. Map.bmpThere`s going to be more than one map, but the roads are the same allways. Saying RTS is a way to say it, but it is not a RTS as if. The "RTS" Battle will take place on the map, where 5 digimon on your side (one that you control) and 5 digimon on the other side (enemies) fight each other to destroy the enemies spires. There is no units, no minions... but in the battle, there would be a combination of digimon that make perfect balance like in any RTS game. There would be tanks, dps, carry, etc. And for a better explanation, the battle system is an ABS (Falcao Pearl ABS Liquid V2), you don`t use the mouse system to play on battle, the mouse system it`s to be used only on the breeding stage, aka "The PC". The items that the player will obtain int the game were be in the single-player mode, where the digimon has quest to make on the "net"(i.e. On the In-Box you recieve a e-mail that says: "A Gabumon got lost on the net and i cant`t find it, i saw him for the last time in B-56" then the player puts the digimon on the net, way to B-50 (because is the nearest entrance) just to make the quest. The digimon appears on the net, and the player controls it to fight other digimon that will be put on the way as enemies, till it gets to the objetive, the Gabumon. When the digimon accomplish the quest, gets back to the Pc, and the player recieves the reward (gold, evolution items, cards, etc) Online Features For Online, i mean "LAN" connection, maybe with Hamachi por other programs that create a fake "Lan" connection. The RTS game can be played online with up to 5 friends per team. In the online connection you can exchange either digimon and items. Wath do you guys think about this idea? Can it be done? Based on your questions, i`ll answer and put the new information on this post. I want to say that if the game goes ok and it has a promising progress, the Digimons will change to other type of monsters, but allways with the same basis, breeding, training, evolutions, dna evolutions, items and cards. + Sughayyer 163 Posted March 23, 2014 "Can it be done" is always yes. But I have the impression that you are trying to convey a lot of different games you like into one. My opinion is biased because I always put more thought in story and character development, of which you haven't revealed, but I think you should develop this idea a bit further.
2BitsLP 21 Posted March 23, 2014 I love Digimon and it sounds like a cool blend of the v-pet and console games, but... I'm not too awesome with the online or RTS idea. RTS in my mind implies a tactic game and those are realllllly long. I also don't think there would be enough support for online play. You would need some amazing ideas, considering there is already a Digimon MMO.
MaxYidown 2 Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) @Sughayyer: Maybe i dint explain it okay, the game has no story, it`s about leveling up your digimon, make quests and play on the battle arena. Yes, im trying to make a game with all the different features i´ll like to see on a digimon game. That´s because im asking if it can be done. @Aya_Vectra: The "realllllly long" time playing the rts game won`t be that long, because, there`s only 5 spires to destroy and the map is very small in comparison with other rts games like LOL. And you have 5 digimon attaking the spires, that make the game easier and faster than others. I know that some things (like the rts system, and the breeding system) are dificult to put together, but if there`s anyone how will like to help me, just PM me. Spectre 829 Posted March 23, 2014 It's lovely that the idea plays on a childhood favorite, Digimon, and has a similar playstyle to MOBA games like Monday Night Combat or Dota. There are, of course, a few problematic elements to the game concept: 1. Online Support As you may know by now, the current RPG Maker VX Ace doesn't have multiplayer support encoded in itself, nevermind online support. Online support generally requires not only special coding, but constant connections to a host server which has to be maintained by yourself or a subsidiary company. Of course, if you're capable of using these things, and the game maker solely exists as a template to which your code will be linked to rather than created from, then by all means, go nuts with online capability. You'd actually be a first if you pull it off. 2. RTS I hate to break it to you, but what makes most RTS games so successful would be the ability to micromanage several types of units in real time. This is accomplished with a combination of button presses and, more importantly, a mouse. Having to slowly scroll across to the other units and select their orders is, in all honesty, a pain for RTS games. Now, if you're able to code mouse functionality to the exact same specifications as your actual mouse, or better yet, to use your own mouse with all its cursor scroll speed, then kudos, you've locked in basically most of the mechanics for a functional RTS. Otherwise, consider alternatives to having to select and move up to 5 units in real time: Have turns that last up to 30s/1min per player for you to strategize and move pieces around individually. Basically, turning an RTS into a TBS. Have move orders, but delay them until all units have been given move orders, in which they'll advance together. This rewards players for faster reflexes and thinking. 3. Item System I'd like to see how you plan to have new items or Digimon introduced into the game. A few questions in mind: Surely the player will pick out a starter pack, but how will they obtain new items; by wagering with other players, or playing in single-player mode? Are there rare editions of Digimon? If so, how are they obtained, and how overpowered are they compared to the rest? Most freemium card games on the market/app stores generally have loyalty rewards or special events where you can get limited edition cards for free. You can consider this element, albeit it may be hard to code without server functionality/patching capabilities. As for your battle system, here are the following elements to consider: As you know, Digimon have various forms of evolution, each progressively more powerful than its predecessors. How will you balance the array of Digimon selected so that one player won't be overpowered as compared to the rest? (Consider a tier-based system, where some tiers have the players use only Baby Digimon, or some where only the highest evolved forms are allowed. Likewise, balance the spires' statistics according to the tiers.) Alternatively, if you're making them evolve in battle, have a point system where you lose more points on death the closer you are to levelling up, and you'd lose more points if a weaker Digimon finishes off a stronger one. If a Digimon loses enough points, it devolves back to its previous form. How will teamwork factor into the game? In many MOBAs, teamwork is essential - not everyone can be the tank or the dps. Will there be certain combinations of skills only accessible with certain Digimon, or will there be some which function as damage carries or supports? To what extent do items improve the functionality of the game? Are obtaining items crucial to winning the game and changing the equilibrium of the battle in your favor, or do they function as accessories to give a small boost at the earliest stages of the game?
MaxYidown 2 Posted March 23, 2014 @The Dragon God and @Notonatuesday: Thanks bot of you! :B @Kentard: Wow... Kentard, you are making me think 1.Online support: This one is the easy one to answer, the online connection (maybe i expressed wrong) is on a "LAN" connection. Maybe Hamachi or other programs that make fake Lan connections would be the solution. You know wath i mean, some one makes a host server and the other players engage with the IP of the host. 2.RTS Saying RTS is a way to say it, but it is not a RTS as if. 3.Item System The items that the player will obtain int the game were be in the single-player mode, where the digimon has quest to make on the "net"(i.e. When the digimon accomplish the quest, gets back to the Pc, and the player recieves the reward (gold, evolution items, cards, etc) I didn`t thinked that way, i just planed it to get different species of digimon, not only the basic line, many digievolution lines, and many DNA evolutions. I don`t think there are RARE digimons, just more dificult to obtain. The evolutions are lerned on the PC (the PC is like the farm), the way to learn them is the next:- By gaining experience on the battles of quest or in the RTS Game and leveling up- By evolution items (i.e. Biyomon evolves into Airdramon with the "Air Skull")- By DNA (i.e. Ex-Veemon DNA evolves into Paildramon with the data of Stingmon)In quests they can evolve to the next form, by using the digimon cards (i.e. Renamon is fighting, and the player uses the card S-Evolution, Renamon instantly evolves to Kyubimon) If this were a online game, maybe, but is still a proyect of a single-player with multi-player options. I will love to put preemium cards, but as i said, it`s not an online game, maybe patches are the solution. But this is still a proyect i´ll like to think in the game it self than in the gifts. As for the battle system For the evolutions, i was thinking a way to put on the battle arena only digimons of the same level stage (rookies with rookies, champions with champions, etc) The digimon will not evolve in battle (cause the control spire) they can only evolve on the net when they are making the quests. As i said before, there would be carry digimon, dps, tanks, etc. (i.e. Leomon and Frigimon are fighting in the same team, a Ogremon approaches them, Frigimon use a "Icy Breath" to freeze the Ogremon, and Leomon use the attack "Fist of the Beast King" to finish the Ogremon) The cards are just ways to implement a better strategy, but not a way to easily win the game. The training, level, and strategy it´s wath matters in battle. (i.e. Renamon and Gabumon are in the same team, a Goblimon approaches and Gabumon fights as a tank to distract it, Renamon then finish the enemie with a "Koyousetsu" attack from the back). I hope this awnser all your questions, and you can sleep peacefully Bye bye everyone (keep asking and supporting, or the Yeti will eat all your socks ¬¬)
