Hello Community,

Ok, guess it's my turn to post a idea.

Title: "Legacy"

Genre: Rpg

Story: you develop it

Summary: I was thinking about us, the Community. What we can do together.

A open source rpg where we group together and add on to it, like a series. It would be like a archive, we leave our fingerprint on it for futher generations to see. thus our legacy. Like we got a Master List for collecting scripts, how about a game to collect our thoughts and creativity. I'm not sure if this was done before but seems like fun. I await judgement.

The protagonist is anyone we agree on. I personally think it could be a villain lol I feel evil whahaha!!

Story wise it can be about war, magic, animals ( don't tell Peta) XD

Sounds interesting. Has the potential to be quite messy, though I'm sure it won't be anything too hard. Might need a few collaborators to work on consistency; this is the messy bit I waa referring to, but otherwise has room for what is essentially infinite creativity.

Might want to start with a file sharing document, maybe even a wikia page to allow brainstorming. Also polls. Lots of polls. We're the contributors, but at the end of the day, you're the arbiter of this entire project.

As for my two cents on the protagonist, well... we could go with an anti-hero or antagonist rather than a hero, per se. Would be a nice change for once; and rather than having a purely Aesopian, moralistic story which involves them learning about being good, perhaps we use their evil acts for a good cause, sort of like vigilantes that kill criminals rather than capture them.

A story about a people that have to feed on brains or uh something of other people in order to live
The result of something passed down as a "gift"
Maybe it results in them being younger or healthier than most people or powers or I don't know
I'm dumb
Anyway
The protagonist comes to age where s//he resent this "gift" and wants to find a way to survive without feasting on people
S//he wants to bring a new "legacy" of life without these sacrifice
The player has to sustain life by taking as least lives as possible during the game by making choices
Or timer
?
In the RPG Day or night cycle
?

While searching for another way of existing
For emotional part one teammate can offer themselves as food as a willing sacrifice
After some event
I'm bad at writing so
But this is just my idea
OK

There

Thanks! I agree, it'll need sonstant work but at least there'll be a new gam release every blue moon lol.  I never did a wikia page before so I'm lost on that but ideas can be passed around here afterall we are the creators. I agree a villain breaks the cliché so I'm on full support with that.

Feel free to add a idea or feedback .

Lol sounds like a zombie game but instead the character is alive and apparently the "gift" is souls cause everyone needs one to live XD  Good start!

Actually, if you want, we could have a new open source RPG every three to six months or so, just to keep things fresh.

Sounds strangely like Monsters, Inc., only with zombies as a twist. Very creative, and certainly not lacking in depth.

You could also have teammates turn on you and try to eat you, or at the same time, work with the aforementioned "timer" system which sends you into a frenzied state if the request is not met, forcing you to attack the first NPC/teammate you encounter. There's a lot to expand on in that idea, and it gives you an incentive to keep looking for alternatives.

Storyline wise, perhaps set it as either a zombie survival/drama based game, or one with the first humans looking for meat substitutes in a world without animals. Perhaps introduce the idea of agriculture in the game as well, and you go around persuading people that vegetables are, contrary to popular belief, still edible.

Anyway, Dragon, perhaps you'll want to set up a poll once more ideas flood in. Makes it much easier to start work on a single project.

How about an open source RPG where the player chooses their own adventure from a randomly generated seed? That way we can update the generator and not the whole thing. Add and remove seeds and stuff :) Also it would kinda be like ABC's of Death, many mini adventures, maybe an interconnected storyline? Like we could have a main storyline broken down into seeds, where you can play each part of it?

As soon as I started reading your idea the thought popped into my head of someone who can't die and goes on a quest to find a way to get killed. This spawned mainly from my misconception that the protagonist of your story can live forever so long as they keep eating brains.

As interesting as the idea of a joint project is, there's a high chance things get messy, as Kentard said. Katawa Shoujo and the SCP Foundation are examples of two projects that (I'm pretty sure) are joint community projects on the level you're planning, that turned out well, so it IS possible, though.

In case anyone is interested in the hero who can't die, I'd imagine the game to explore themes of loneliness and despair as loved ones die around the hero (a la Dr.Who). The battle system could be based around making the hero take the brunt of the attacks, because apart from them all other characters have low HP and defence and die very easily (as people do in real life).

Another thought came to me: to achieve your idea of a legacy, it might be good to go for a sort of compilation of stories by various people (sort of like an anthology film). In the case of RPG Maker we can all make a sort of general "world" with certain characters, countries, lore, laws of nature etc. that are defined beforehand. After that we create the maps and worlds and then release it all as a single game, but without any events. People are then free to create little stories with the pre-designed characters. They then send the game to some sort of admin body who checks the story, fixes things up, and releases the game with the new stories added, which you can choose via a character selection scene after selecting "new game".

In this way everyone can be a part of the game, adding in little bits and pieces and fleshing out the game world and creating a "legacy". Furthermore because there is no set beginning and ending, it is possible for newcomers to join in at any time. You don't get much more "community" than that.

Awesome!!! I suggest then we take everyone's ideas from here and use those as the beginning stories. I saw a script for character seldom but forgot who the scripter was.

A neologism is a made-up word. :)

No, I mean the definition of "neologism" is "a made-up word." XD It's confusing, right? "neo" meaning "new" and "log" can mean "write, communicate," so "new writing/word"=a created word.

Ooh, I like this idea! Totally going to join in! :)

@Shi-nan :o that was quick!

So, how do you plan on organizing things? A shared document? A new topic?

In what way was it quick? It's been two days since the topic started.

And I don't plan on organizing anything. I have my own project to deal with, and half of the posts in this topic are off-topic. If the project does kick off, it's gonna need a strong body of one or more "higher-ups" who piece together eveyone's ideas and gives the game some sort of coherence. Most likely something like a new topic won't be controllable enough, the idea of a wiki was brought out which I think was good.

I... wasn't asking how you would organize things. I was asking the TC. But whatever. I was just surprised someone already came up with a plot and all.

Back to the topic at hand, yeah, I think a wikia or a shared doc would be nice to organize things. As I said before, this is a fun idea, but it needs to be well organized, or else it wouldn't work out.

I'll try to make a Wikia or Document soon, been busy atm and I generally like to fill up the jar before I do something lol.
