HumanNinja 144 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) Genre: Fantasy RPG Game Progression: 15% Demo: As of now the demo is only a sample of the battle system with limited characters and limited skills. If you decide to play it, please let me know what you think. I need feedback on all aspects of the battle system and the skills. Brave Force - Demo3, at dropbox with no RTP. Synopsis: Brave Force is a story-driven RPG. Basically, the Kingdom of Men exists on a continent known as the Isle of Man. This kingdom is ruled from Knight's Ridge which sits beside a giant canyon that splits the Isle of Man into two. Across the canyon lies another kingdom ruled by the Imps. Both kingdoms are relatively peaceful and prosperous thanks to man's ability to harness the immense power of the Manastream. The Manastream is the lifeblood of the planet and seeps out of the earth at certain spots creating mana. The people of the world harness and rely on the Manastream for most everything. However, the Manastream is also responsible for the creation of the Shadowed (natural creatures/beings that have also learned to manipulate the Manastream). Hundreds of years before the game takes place, the Shadowed were enslaved and used as an army against the Kingdom of Men. Obviously the ancient armies of men won, hence the years of peace and prosperity. Interestingly, some of the Shadowed were affected to a much deeper extent by the constant use of mana and developed the ability to reason. After the war, these elite Shadowed were imprisoned for their crimes against humanity. When the game begins, the world is largely a carefree environment full of young adventurers seeking fame and fortune. However, their exists an uneasiness that does not sit well with some. This game is about one of four (your choice when you begin the game) heroes who has a chance to step out from under the boot of providence and make a difference in the world. The hero you choose will affect certain aspects of the game including, but not limited to: Hero enlistment, Faction cooperation, and major game events. In a world where magic seeps from the within the earth, the Kingdom of Men has reigned supreme for a thousand years. This relatively peaceful existence is due to the ability of the realms to control the immense power of the Manastream. But while peace exists, the underlying threat of the Shadowed is ever present. The people of the realms live a content life, wanting for nothing; leaving their fate in the hands of their esteemed rulers. While most simply accept this peaceful and prosperous time for what it is, there are some who sense the complacency of the Shadowed is an illusion at best. These people are ever searching for answers to the questions nobody else seems willing to ask. The majority of maps are still in production and need some polishing. ATB system Multiple heroes to begin the game with Faction reputation system that affects which characters can be recruited by the main heroes A skill system that I believe to be intricate and dynamic in regards to customization of battle parties based on how hero skills affect each other through the use of damage formula and state A leveling system that allows the player to customize hero stats at their own discretion The graphical style revolves around the DS pack and RTP Edited April 1, 2014 by HumanNinja
HumanNinja 144 Posted March 29, 2014 I've updated my topic with a link to the battle demo I have. It's not a tutorial or anything. You're dropped in with 3 chars all at level 3 with only 9 skills available between the 3 of them. There are four battles to participate in, each scaling in difficulty. From the main menu, you can adjust stats through CruxGrowth and you must equip your skills through EquipSkills. Descriptions of the skills can be viewed with SkillList (let me know please if the skill descriptions are adequate or should they provide more info). BTW, for this demo, if you choose any char besides Berengar, you'll be transported to an empty field with no hope of escape. Any feed back on this battle demo will help me tremendously with balancing out my skills.
HumanNinja 144 Posted April 1, 2014 I've updated my topic again with a brief synopsis. Soon I'll have an entire area of the game finished as far as mapping and events go so I'll be able to update again with screenshots.
+ AdamSakuru 43 Posted April 9, 2014 This is looking pretty neat. Keep up the good work
HumanNinja 144 Posted August 6, 2014 Just wanted to say that I'm back to working on this project again after a long break. I will be updating the OP with the new story synopsis soon. Reason for this is because I am trying to simplify the game so that I will be able to complete it. The battle system and characters are staying the same. I'm just basically rewriting the story slightly. The rewrite will make mapping easier for me. I'm also probably going to stay away from parallax mapping because of the time involved. I'm going to go with RTP tiles but slightly altered/recolored. I'm also going to ditch some of the "extra" features that I think won't add any real depth to the game. Currently I'm finishing the new animations for skills/spells. I'm also editing the RTP tile sets to fit the look I'm going for. Hopefully the simplistic approach I'm taking will allow me to actually finish this game. I've put hours and hours of work into the battle system so I'm excited to get this game finished! hiromu656 27 Posted August 7, 2014 So have you updated the Demo at all?
HumanNinja 144 Posted August 7, 2014 No I haven't updated the demo. It exists as a sample of the battle engine only at the moment. There is really no explanation so if you haven't played around with the Ao no Kiseki CBS then you may be a bit confused. My bad for that. I'm currently working on the first segment for the character 'Berengar' right now. When I'm finished with that, I'm going to finish up a tutorial/prologue segment that will introduce players to the battle mechanics. After completing the tutorial, the player will be able to choose which character to begin the game with. By this sunday I plan on having my OP updated with all the new information and a new demo that will allow a playthrough of the tutorial and at least part of Berengar's first scenario. Thank you for your interest.
