@KayakoChan Oops, I meant a script to add an option on the menu to turn voices on/off. It would call a common event where the voice switch would turn on or off. That's some planning I have ahead...

Yummy pie is delicious! and who cares about bad ratings or reviews? I mean seriously, some people will like your game and others will pick out flaws for your game. Let them come! And swish your mighty sword in the face of the hater for they will never know the true cause of this game!! For us, comrades, we know exactly what this game is about!!! And it is...to eat pie :3 whilst having fun.

Even the greatest game got haters. Don't worry, try to scan which reviews are good reviews, from where you can learn from your mistakes and further improve the game.

 

A review with just: this sucks and that is bad, is actually a very bad review and prob just a hater/troll.

Keep your head up and create one hell of a game! You're doing great so far.

Woop de doop! Update!

 

Thanks to a 3 hour vocaloid compilation on youtube, I've finished all the maps up to the third day! Wooo! \o/ \o/ \o/

 

If you want to know why the compilation helped me, the songs were so bad, I said to myself "I can only turn off the music if I finish the maps today!" It worked! All I needed was a bit of, uh, motivation. 

 

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but when making a new dream, I organize myself like this:

1- Draw rough map sketches + Puzzle ideas

2- Make the maps

3- Test if they're all working correctly (that's what I'm doing right now!)

4- Find a nice BGM for the maps

5- Work on the events (dialogue, etc)

6- Bugtest!

7- The worst part...  Use the portraits on the events, and test if they're...*trembles* working...correctly...(I don't even want to think about this...)

8- Bugtest!

9- b u g t e s t

10- Move on to another dream, repeat the steps until death.

11- ?????

12- Profit!

 

Now I'm going to take a looooong, nice break.

Whoa. XD Nice job Meiri. That sounds killer >< (And an awful lot like my methods as well, hehe.) I usually do portraits with events, but I totally get you. best of luck with all of this ;_;

@Tsarmina I absolutely hate Vx Ace's Show Picture command, that's why I always leave the portraits and pictures for last.    And thank you, I'm doing my best ;w;

 

There are SO many bad compilations on youtube, it's not even funny for me anymore. For the past few days, I've listened to like, 10 of them, and none had any songs I like.

I personally love me some vocaloid (Admittedly, I'm rather picky on them, though.) But songs like Rin's Hi-Fi-Girl or FOA (Or if I want to reflect on school, the lost one's Weeping) are among my favorite pieces ever. It's true that theres many horrible songs too though, almost any 'cover' for example... *shudders* but yes, I know that pattern, and loathe seeing how slow my progress is if I don't discipline myself brutally to make some strides.

Bad news, guys.

 

Some damned error appeared on the Apple Pie project, again. This has happened countless times before, but this time, for some reason, my usual methods didn't work. For the past three hours, I've been trying to fix it, to no avain.

 

I managed to rescue the common events and the parallaxes, which saved me a lot of work. But I'll have to write the events that I wrote after the final version of the demo was uploaded. All. Over. Again. After this bullshit, I'm going to take a break from this project for some weeks. I'm sorry. I'm extremely frustated that hours and hours of my works has vanished in thin air.

Why don't you take this time to play some other RPG games for inspiration , to get your juices flowing again? (Not mine of course, since it focusses largely on combat, so that won't help!)

Anyway, I'm sure you can find games that have elements from your own you can use to cheer yourself up a litte! I found out the switches are screwed up too. They're not named anymore, but they still function. This is a big mess...It turns out some of the common events were recovered. Like, 3 out of 5. I'd like to thank the based god for this blessing. ;w;

 

*sigh* The worst thing is, the events with like, 3-5 lines were somehow saved from the corruption, but the ones I spent half an hour writing are gone. Why? WHY?!

Have you tried doing a system restore? Or.. maybe there's a secret function to restore old things in Windows.

GUYS I'M FREAKING OUT BUT IN A REALLY GOOD WAY

 

Turns out the problem was with the "Mapinfo" file, right? So, I used this really really reaaally great snippet here: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/882-unexpected-file-format-error/?p=8871 AND I MANAGED TO RECOVER MY EVENTS AND MAPS!!

 

Seriously, I could hug Kread-Ex if I could. 

 

Right now, the maps are a mess because I was just testing the snippet, but... Nothing I can't fix. At least, I won't have to re-do all of the events.

 

I'm going to make a party! Everyone on the forum is invited. There will be pies, apples, cupcakes and tasty drinks!   WOOOHOOO!

While I was grieving my switches ( ) I changed a few scripts here and there, made some modifications...and, taa-daa!

 

 I'd like to thank Vlue for the neat script. One problem solved, 99 to go!

 

...one of them includes finding a way to boost my damn self esteem.
