This is great! Thanks as usual for compiling everything Jonnie.

I noticed you changed your avatar to the dragon again btw. (XD) Also that... u decided to use my forest background for your track hahahaha.

Your ambient sound is really nice/ relaxing to listen to; and actually, i've been looking for something exactly like it for my game. (!) I feel very honoured that you chose my drawing to represent it, though. /o/

Nice job again, everyone~! I decided to share my thoughts!

@Jonnie: Another beautiful ambiance that made my ears smile~ Very high quality stuff! (I likely will be listening to it all day. Sometimes, it's nice to take a break from lyrics and such, so I listen to stuff like this a lot.) Thank you!

@ WBRUH: Omg, that is such a wonderful scene! I seriously can't believe how vivid and detailed everything is. (That crystal clear water...and the sunlight on the trees~) Please submit more work like this in the future!

@Tsarmina: I love the work you did on those tile edits; very nice attention to coloration. Nothing is too bright or dingy or wonky, lol. And they're put together thoughtfully. The class status pics are adorable, and put a smile on my face. â™¥ Also, nice forest picture! I really love the way the sky turned out; a beautiful blend of colors.

@Cecillia: Excellent job on such a high quality tile set! I especially love those windows; classy and elegant~ Marietta is beautiful, (as are all of your girls, lets face it). The subtle peach to pink in her hair is adorable. Love it!

@Charlesthehurst: Very cool forest scenes you have there! The blue one is my favorite; it's eerie in a 'ghost story at night' sort of way. The green one with sunlight is calming; like I'm about to walk into a sunny glade~ And the amber one reminds me of autumn at sunset. *sighs dreamily*

@Palladinthug: That broom is genius. *hordes* Great job animating it, which is where I definitely would have stumbled.  I adore what you did with the tile set as well. The stained glass is beautiful, and I love the over grown roots/vines you made. I've never seen tiles like that before. And the waterwheel is pure, undiluted genius.

@OneCut: Lol! That mushroom is way too adorable. The sprite is super huggable, (and very high quality), while the battler looks like he'd nom my fingers off. XD I'd hug him anyway.

@Resource Dragon: Wonderful pixel battle back! I love the depth you gave the field via the trees in the horizon. They're subtle, but make all the difference! Also, excellent job on the grass and leaf textures!

@Allusion: Get started on next month's ideas now. Like seriously. Right now. Or I will take away your nap time. =_=

Lol, anywho, I'd like to remind ppl to please let us know what you'd like to see as next month's theme~ It really helps, seeing as every re-staff is released with the devs in mind.  :)

Thanks Allusion =^-^= I appreciate it! The class status pics were in a burst of inspiration, and the forest CG took a couple of days but was definitely worth it. ^^

By the way guys. As I have for the past months, I've put my full content for my ReStaff contributions in my laboratory. They're still restaff content, but just in case you only need a few select things :)

Really loving what everybody did here this month! It's all so ambient/foresty, and I can really put some of these to use in side projects (If I have any) but definitely saving these ^_^

Aaargh! I was off again like last month! I drew gamblers for a ancient theme, then I drew a modern nurse for a forest theme @_________@!

@Cecillia: It's okay! Whenever there is a month you'd like to contribute to, just PM Jonnie and ask what the chosen theme is. If the re-staff team has it thought of, you'll be informed of it then! If not, you'll be PM'ed when it is.  :)

I have been PMing him actually XDDD, but he says to do whatever so I do whatever. I thought restaff had no more themes :S

Oh! Well that's odd; it worked for me both times~ Maybe there could be a public posting of the next month's theme, once it's been decided from now on? I think it's something for the mods to consider~

Yeah we were in discussion about doing a joint piece for this month, but in the end life got terribly in my way and had to take time off, so said to Cecillia to do what she wanted :D^_^

The themes are more of a suggestion more than anything :D it's to help give inspiration :D^_^

Excellent work guys - great stuff for forest scenes / battles and Cecilla work would suit a modern setting very well :)

Marietta reminds me a little of super sonico :P

To be honest, I wasn't even aiming for Sonico. I was actually inspired by Compa from Hyper Dimension Neptunia and Nurse Lolita.

Ohhh I love Compa! She is so adorable! I love Hyper Dimension Neptunia in general, and all their character designs~

Never tried the games or watched the anime to be honest (Although looking forward to Fairy Fencer F). I just have a friend who really likes it and that's how I mainly know the characters/designs xD

TEACH ME MASTER.

In all seriousness though, how the heck did you do all that? It looks... amazing. :o

BGs were never really my thing, but I'd really love to learn how to paint some nice scenery.

Also, how long did it take?

Lol, i am far from being a master >_< honestly, most of the time i just do stuff that i think would look nice. Thanks a lot though Kentard /o/ i've never really had another artist describe my work in that way. I'm always really surprised when people are genuinely interested like that..!

Tbh, it took me about 4-5 days to do it. As for wanting to learn how to paint scenery... i'm.. not sure what to tell you. (!) I mean, idk if you're implying something (XD), or if you were actually hoping for way i could try to help you.

I think practising it conscientiously has a lot to do with it though. And then really looking at real-life scenery. I mean, analyzing the layers and colour values, etc. There's a lot you really need to think about. I think if i had to give general suggestions though, i would say

- Try to start on a grey canvas.

- If you are having trouble with a piece of shading, try working in greyscale. Depth is processed in grayscale in the human brain.

- Scenery will always blend into your background colour the further away it is.

- Your composition will tend to appear more dynamic if you use two different colours.

This is how i basically do my water and grass if you're interested btw. I do a base gradient, and keep refining the overall object, instead of specific parts.

afLh8ZH.jpg

Also, "http://imgur.com/WafTWEj.jpg" (this) is how i did backgrounds when i was 15, so hopefully that will encourage you to keep going if you ever find it trying/ frustrating. It's very easy to say "i'll never be a backgrounds person"; but the end results you see will be very self-rewarding if you stay committed.

Both of you STFU I look at the artwork you drew at 15 and the stuff Ceci draws now and cry in joy I WANNA DRAW LIKE THAT grrrr :D

This was my artwork at 15 T_T That ugly background. I literally just googled backgrounds then just pasted it there with watercolor effect/texture. I didn't know what to do, but now I know better :X
